Anyone who goes into Dogtown, especially around the Fox Hill area, bring liquor with you. With the newspaper mentioning the packs of dogs, I get the feeling someone's going to hare off to try to investigate. If you do, have a bottle of something alcoholic on hand.

Not the dogs. There's old stories about Thomazine "Tammy" Younger aka "Queen of the Witches" taking a toll from anyone who goes near Fox Hill. Liquor from those who have it, blood from those who don't. And cursing those who don't pay up.

I'd rather everyone have it and not need it than the reverse. A payment in blood to a witch feels inherently risky, right?

Also, if you do go to check it out and you want backup, I'd be glad to join you.

But I have no intention of making your visit to Dogtown more troublesome or difficult. As for liquor, my default is sake, but I bring the biases of someone born and raised in Japan. I didn't see anything specific about what she wants in what I read.

...or any specifications about what blood she'd take. These sort of things tend to be bound by the letter of their laws, not by the spirit. I wonder if animal blood would suffice.

There's been rumors of werewolves or ghost dogs in Dogtown before, actually. I came across that in some research recently--this isn't a new phenomenon. I kind of wonder which came first, the dogs or Dogtown.

ADI has a fairly robust medical department, but that may not be useful out in the field if there's trouble.

They pop up every few years--no discernable pattern. Witchcraft in general has been a thing in Dogtown since the 1800s, when widows and 'independent women' took over that area and men moved to the coast.
