Dogtown Emergency Service - Open Network - Video
Who: John Carter
Username: Carter
Warnings: None so far; potential discussion of Dogtown related injuries and happenings, will warn accordingly in the threads
[The video starts... awkwardly. The angle is slightly off at first and when Carter wants to begin, the phone falls over. There's some fumbling, blurry images, noisy mic sounds, but he actually manages to salvage this a few seconds in. It's not a disaster, just... off. The slightly clumsy handling of someone who learned about a new technology later in life and has only been using it for a couple of months.
Also, not enough to warrant editing this out, sorry, he's lazyand probably doesn't know how to do it.]
Uh, good morning. Sorry about that?
For those of you who don't know me, my name is John Carter. I'm an emergency doctor and I work in medical. I'm looking for volunteers.
I'm worried about the Dogtown situation. We've had several people on here warnings us of invisible bullets, madness inducing birds, blood river monsters... and who knows what else is waiting for us in there.
[A sigh. He looks worried.]
Thing is, I've treated several people now who got hurt. Really hurt. Now, it's never been an inviting place, I know that, but I don't think it's ever been this bad. And I don't think people are gonna stop exploring anytime soon, so...
I want to set up two mobile clinics outside the entrances so those of you who go in there have quick access to medical supplies and treatment if things go wrong. I already talked to ADI and they're willing the fund the bill. If people want to help out, that'd be great.
And if you head out there, be careful.

I mean, I've been doing some exploring, too. But I can switch it up a little if you need help.

[You know. This place being this place. And all that horror jazz.]
no subject
I do - so hopefully I'll be able to get in and back out again.
[Because sometimes that is a problem.]
Is it worth distributing a few basic first-aid kits around, maybe to the people most likely to go poking around in there? If you've got the supplies to spare.
[And it sounds like he might.]

[Does he want to know? He doesn't want to know.]
I can definitely help you.
I just don't know how to treat...blood river monster injuries...

[He's tired, Luka. He's so tired.]

[He makes a face and takes a deep breath.
Worse than County?
…]
I see.
Do you think the blood…river…monster will be attached or…
[It’s just he doesn’t know much about river monster jaws, much less ones that live in blood rivers…]

Dr. Carter. I think it's a very good idea to have medical attention on standby. My name is Andrew Jaeger, I'm in Investigations and Security and I'd be happy to offer my help. The clinics will likely need at least minimal security and assistance?
I have some basic first aid training, as well, but martial assistance is my better set of skills.
no subject
And yeah, security is definitely a concern. There's always the possibility that we have to go in there and get people out, too. It'd be great to have you on board.
no subject
A retrieval team is an excellent idea as well. I'm hoping people are wise enough to have a partner for going into Dogtown, but some of the things that happen in there are enough trouble that even an experienced pair could find themselves in over their heads. It's good to have an anchor team.

I can only operate for about 24 hours before I have to be charged so it'd be hard for me to go into Dogtown itself, but I do have some medical knowledge - I'd be willing to help out with a clinic.

[He smirks, imagining he'd try that line on Benton or one of his other supervisors. Man, what he would have given for that excuse during his internship!]
Is it dangerous for you to shut down if you go on for too long? Or is it more like... us humans just falling asleep eventually?

Why would people be compelled to continue exploring this Dogtown when the threat of dismemberment and potentially death is so obvious as to require triage? [is there like, for example, Cool Shit]
no subject
[Should he say something about that username. Mhh. He'll refrain for now but it is there, taunting him for some dry commentary.]
Well... to figure out why things are getting so bad in there, for one. Potentially trying to find a way to stop it or stop it from spreading further.
[A pause.]
And some are just reckless, I guess.

[For a man with an ursine nose and many large, sharp teeth, Hob sounds unnaturally refined. He introduces himself with a stiff bow.]
K.P. Hob, at your service. Firstly, I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude for your expert treatment of Delloso de la Rue. They speak highly of your kindness in their time of need, and I do not wish to imagine what would have occurred had their wound turned sour.
Truly, thank you. I owe you a debt greater than you know. If you should ever need a favor you need only ask it, and I will grant it to the best of my ability.
Which brings me to the second matter. I should like to offer my services in this most noble endeavor. While I am no healer, I am learned in field dressage and, should it come to it, more than equipped to aid in the recovery of injured persons from within the park.

[Hey, he's getting better at this. He doesn't even stare all that much? He thinks. Honestly, he imagined someone quite different when Rue had mentioned a goblin army.
There's a bit of a pause and then he bows back a little. Not a proper bow, the sort of half motion when you're not quite sure if you're really supposed to bow but maybe you are and you don't want to be rude...]
It was my pleasure, really. I was just doing my job. But it'd be great to have you on board, thank you for the offer. You're, uh, military, right?
Rue told me you stayed behind in Dogtown. Are you all right? You're not injured, are you?
no subject
[You could. AWOL is, perhaps, more appropriate but hey. Who's going to call him out here?
Hob's bushy eyebrows lift when his own health is asked after, as if it hadn't occurred to him that it was worth considering.]
...ah. No, not in any way that requires treatment. [Here one of his long ears twitches. There's a half-crescent hole punched through the edge that has the look of a recent, but healing, near-miss. When he speaks again his voice is subdued.] I was...lucky...enough to make it through relatively unscathed.

[And because he only brushes up every few decades anyway.]
But I'd be willing to take a few shifts outside Dogtown.

Thanks, Mr. Pierson, that would be great. What year are you from?
