I'm thinking of going into Staff Development. What skills are people looking to develop?

I'm down for it if you are. And hitting stuff with a bat is a good skill, even if it's not cutting it. You run into a lot of assholes who want to hurt you like that?

Yeah, hunting. How to make a fire without matches or a lighter. Making a shelter. Generally "how not to die if you get lost hiking" type stuff.

Yeah, you could definitely say that. Most of them I probably couldn't do anything against even if I was Bruce Lee, they're not usually human, but for the ones that are it might have saved me a finger and a leg.

I accidentally ate a chipmunk once, so that might not be a bad idea either.

Hah, sounds a lot like what I run into back home. Can't say I've ever lost an appendage though, so yours might be worse. Usually I talk my way out of snags with things that are more powerful than I am, but I can be pretty powerful when I want to be.

Accidentally? Sounds like a good story.

Good isn't really the word I would use. More like "long" or "weird".

Or something. I can tell you all about it later. There's just a lot of the supernatural going on where I live.

It involves a sociopath, a glowing mutant raccoon, a couple of demi-gods, and a really long sleep-deprived walk through the woods after not eating for... a while and then hallucinating a set of cookie scout twins that may or may not have existed but either way fed me what turned out to definitely not be cookies the next day

You know what, I don't say this often but I think your story is weirder than most of mine. And mine involve necromancers with ancient Viking bodyguards and a dryad that we pacified with vodka and lemon bars.

It's really weird how many supernatural entities are appeased by liquor and junk food.

I mean, when you think about it, most people can be appeased with liquor and junk food. I know I sure can.

That's fair, it's definitely relatable. Sometimes a gas station burrito is just what you need in your life.

A gas station burrito and a beer and I'll shut up for at least 5 minutes.

My pack's at least caught the hang of it.

Pack as in like a wolf pack way, or pack as in a Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr. way?

Like a wolf pack. You could say it's a nickname for my found family.

Not that I've seen yet, but I wish they'd show up.

My found family pack thing, I guess. Can you have one of those with only one person? Maybe that's more like a dynamic duo or something.

Two people can be a pack. My brother and I were one for a while, until we met up with Noah. Noah is my best friend.

Okay, cool. Then I guess we're that.

Anyway, I hope your brother and/or Noah turn up. It's way easier to deal with this place when you have somebody you trust looking out for you.

I hope they show up too, them and Jasha, my other closest friend. And the rest of them, honestly. If they're back home, I can't take care of them. They're on their own. I trust them, but I'd rather be around to watch out for them.

That sounds like a lot of responsibility to put on yourself.

[wolfssegen]

Yeah. But if we're a wolf pack, you could say I'm the Alpha. It's my job.

On a scale of one to ten, how Chad is Alpha in this context?

[wolfssegen]

In theory, zero. An Alpha's job is to protect and take care of their pack, which means you have to know them, understand them, all their emotional and mental needs, what they're afraid of and what they're good at. It means really taking time out to get to know your people so you can help them do their best at everything. You serve your pack, and you gain their respect by making their lives better.

In practice, most alphas end up turning into stupid dictators, and that's why their packs fail at everything. Those guys don't deserve the capital A. I don't respect them at all.

I have to hand it to you, that is probably the least Chad thing I've ever heard.

Also, you're being like really specific about pack terminology. I'm not really sure if this is an offensive thing to ask or not but
