Warnings: Possible mention of body horror and transformation, warnings will be added if necessary
The haunted evolution game was provided by a donor who wanted to remain anonymous. The museum's administrative records identified the company donating the software as Top Education.
This isn't a name I've come across before, but it's worth looking into what else they provide, and where.
[separate, private messages to Steve Rogers and Winter]
We made it out all right, but we won't be able to rejoin you in the museum.
Any trouble on your ends?

steve is not
he shrugs his shoulders and tries very hard and mostly just looks dumb
[This is a fond insult, not that it's easy to tell through text.]
we got out okay though
and i can still go back to see the dinosaurs again if i want to
private
When we finally get a vacation, we should take a tour of all the dinosaur museums that I haven't been thrown out of.
And this one again. I can wear a disguise.
Re: private
but it would be fun
when do you think we would get a vacation
perma-private
[She's only half-joking. Maybe three quarters.]

or do they assign them out
[Look, he has never taken a vacation before. He doesn't know how this works.]

The harder part will be finding enough information to do some proper digging and see if this is a one-off, or if their games can be linked to other problems. Or if they're a shell company giving cover to something with wider reach.

Right now, we know who provided the game, and we know what it does. If we find out where they've donated or sold, we can look for a pattern of strangeness, and start narrowing down where the problem is - the company, the owner, one programmer...
Or it may not be the company that's the problem at all. Just because we look at this avenue doesn't mean disregarding the possibility that the games were infected after being installed.

That all seems a rather large web of connections to try chasing down, long enough to potentially see it happen again, yes? I admit, I don't know...well, anything about programming, but I know people. If it is a single person causing anomalies, I don't expect you'll find them without luck. If it's a company, then there's bound to have been someone who has talked or is only too scared to, but willing.

[There's a slight, wry twist to her tone.]
It is a lot to chase down, but less the more people who are working on it. And we might not be able to stop the next time, but that will also give us data points.

[It's a miracle he's learned how this phone works, but he's learning.
And there's a small shift in his tone to match hers.]
Necessary sacrifices? I haven't worked with someone who didn't mean that in the worst ways in quite some time. Not that I disagree it has its place. I would offer my help, where I can, with the understanding that the year was the mid 1920s when last I knew it. My ability to navigate a computer is likely comical.

Find anything good?

But for useful information, just the name of the company supplying the games. Most of the real digging will have to be done once we're back in Massachusetts.
I'm hoping that we turn up a connection between the games and the illusion exhibit. Having two cults bickering over the museum would be very bad news for the people there.

[So: absolutely agree.]
I was thinking about maybe staking out one of the exhibits, tomorrow. Try to keep people away from them. Somehow.
