[open network - video]
Who: Delloso de la Rue
Username: Rue
Warnings: n/a
[With how much Rue's come to use their smartphone over the last five or so months, they feel like quite the pro as they begin this video message across the network, their feathery countenance perfectly in frame and prettily lit from a nearby window.]
Now that my beloved and I have finally picked a date, I find that our wedding is fast approaching. I must confess, I was originally quite set on our ceremony being a delightful mix of both goblin and faerie ritual, but I've come to find some human practices absolutely fascinating!
Tell me, do you have any particular wedding traditions from your homeland that stand out as unique?

[Steve's laugh only leaves Rue chuckling along excitedly, clearly very excited about all of this new information they've learned.]
You must simply ask Malcolm to demonstrate! [I'm so sorry, Malcolm. He will never be able to live this down.] I'm told it's quite the wedding tradition for humans. And what a funny dance it is, where humans flap their arms around as if they had wings. Why, if I hadn't seen such proof online, I would have thought he was trying to trick me!

Well that sounds... like something to see.
Oh - now that you have a date. Have you done up your invitations? Those are usually a big deal, too.

[Any party can be vastly improved with a little glitter.]
Not yet! To speak plainly, I hadn't originally intended to invite too many along. Not out of a need for privacy, but simply because Hob and I did not know too many in this realm. But I suppose that has changed over the last few months and now invitations have become a necessity. I need to get those out and quickly.

Well. I, uh. I know you might have someone else in mind to do them, but - I can do calligraphy. I mean, I can do a lot of things, depending on how you wanted them to look. If you needed any help with them.

[Oh. There's just something so devastatingly kind about how many of Rue's dearest friends are leaping at the chance to offer themselves up to help for their wedding. They never expected this kind of attention or generosity from anyone. They barely know how to contain the emotion that threatens to overwhelm them.]
Steve, such an offer from you is most generous. I - I suppose that I could use the help, if you'd be willing. There's still much for me to arrange. But please, if you change your mind, you must let me know! I will not burden you with tasks for my own wedding.

I can mock some up or if you've got a theme in mind, I'll just go off of that.

[How wonderful to have feathers thick enough to hide their blush.]
Our theme is very soft and neutral, natural tones. Soft greens and creams and browns. I have spent a lifetime facilitating enough gaudy gold and marble affairs. I should like ours to be more simple. More real. We have both spent so long hiding our true selves to everyone around us, I should very much like for our wedding to be a true reflection of ourselves, not the caricatures we created.

I'd be happy to give you a few options - although if none of them work, I need you to tell me so I can fix it. These are your invitations, so we want to get them right.
[There's an art shop he's already been to a few times; they'll have just what he needs.] Give me a day or two? I won't need more than that to give you a few designs, and then we can go from there.

But that isn't what Rue wants. And it's absolutely not what Hob wants. They only want a joyful, simple day with their closest friends. It's the people that will make it perfect.]
You need not worry. I've been told I'm quite obvious when I don't like something. [How they can convey so much with a single, silent stare is a talent.] But I shall answer you honestly. I am not afraid to speak up. But again, I'm most grateful for your help, Steve.
[And though they are still new friends, this offer of generosity makes it feel as if they have stepped up their friendship, so Rue doesn't hesitate in reaching over to gently grasp Steve's hand in their feathery paw, squeezing gently. They make sure to catch his eye.]
Thank you.

I haven't gotten, to, uh. Make something like this in a long time. It's honestly going to be fun.
not me mixing up our threads LMAO im so sorry im so fucking dumb
[On their own level, that is. Steve kind of has bigger problems to deal with than Rue ever will.]
Simply having the time to devote to something creative feels like a breath of fresh air. I've been thinking we should start some kind of crafting group, to explore different avenues of artistry!
lol not at allllll XD <33
Oh, that's - that's a really good idea, actually. That sounds really nice. Maybe we could work on a big project together, once things get established. See what everyone brings to the table.

Count me in, for sure. Maybe I ought to go pick up some new art supplies.
