Now that my beloved and I have finally picked a date, I find that our wedding is fast approaching. I must confess, I was originally quite set on our ceremony being a delightful mix of both goblin and faerie ritual, but I've come to find some human practices absolutely fascinating!

Tell me, do you have any particular wedding traditions from your homeland that stand out as unique?

I fully expect my guests to riot if I did not. [It's a tease, but Rue's hosted enough weddings that maybe there's some real truth to the bit.]

Congratulations! I think you’re going to end up married before us. Ummm I haven’t been to many weddings, but dancing is probably a fun thing that people consistently have.

[They hadn't expected so many sweet words of congratulations, but they absolutely preen at them anyway.]

Have you met my darling Hob? He's a most handsome bugbear, about my height, has a penchant for rolling his 'r's...

Well! [Rue laughs, delighted] Shall we hold off and aim for a double wedding instead?

[just a tease, of course. Gloucester would never survive such an arrangement.]

To be perfectly honest, our engagement has run a little longer than what one would expect back in the Feywilds. But it has been a bit of a blessing, to have the chance to spend so much time together, to get to know one another on such a deep, personal level. I would have married him the moment he proposed if we'd had the chance, but I do find myself even more in love with him now, this many months later.

[What a blessing indeed. Rue wouldn't trade these last few months for anything.]

But enough of my sentimentality, please indulge me, my dear. What kind of music is most popular for dancing where you're from?

I’ve been married before [Didn’t work out but that’s neither here nor there] and we did ours in a tent in the backyard of of my family’s ranch, at sunset.

[He grew up ridiculously wealthy and even while mostly estranged from his family they still threw quite the bash. Of course, he hated that part…]

Do you have rings? The ring ceremony where we exchanged vows was…it was nice.

That sounds absolutely perfect, my friend. What a beautiful place to exchange vows, among family. To be quite honest, I have hosted perhaps hundreds of weddings in the past, and while most wedded pairs were eager for the most grandiose of ceremonies, my tastes lie in something a little less. More centered around the little family we've gathered in this place than tiered cakes or gifts.

[A tent on a family's ranch honestly sounds like heaven. They can only imagine how lovely it was, no matter how things ended up.]

We do not, though I have seen humans exchange them during their vows in movies. What is the purpose of such an exchange? A token of affection shared?

I'm not actually sure why. I've only been to one wedding and I was, like, eleven.

[Not having a reason for it honestly only makes it better. Rue laughs to themself, beaming across the phone at Malcolm.]

Humans are absolutely fascinating! What a strange tradition to uphold! Pray, do you think it would be too strange to include a chicken dance at my own reception? I rather like the idea of doing something so ridiculous together.

Its a more Jewish tradition, but after the vows are given the bride and groom step on a glass bottle wrapped up in a towel or napkins. There are like a lot of meanings attributed to why, most of the time its just for good luck or breaking the glass symbolizes breaking away from your old lives to make a new family together.

[There are the more religious reasons, but Peter only kind of knows them, trying to go into depth feels weird given he was only kind of raised Jewish by Ben and May.]

[He was worried for a moment there; he'd gotten out of his depth on a subject he's hardly qualified to speak on, but he likes Rue and wanted to talk to them some more.

Um. Maybe. I'm sure Neal has ideas for things. He's good at this stuff.
