[open network - video]
Who: Delloso de la Rue
Username: Rue

[With how much Rue's come to use their smartphone over the last five or so months, they feel like quite the pro as they begin this video message across the network, their feathery countenance perfectly in frame and prettily lit from a nearby window.]
Now that my beloved and I have finally picked a date, I find that our wedding is fast approaching. I must confess, I was originally quite set on our ceremony being a delightful mix of both goblin and faerie ritual, but I've come to find some human practices absolutely fascinating!
Tell me, do you have any particular wedding traditions from your homeland that stand out as unique?

Of all the things I expected to hear in return, I am most surprised by all of these generous offers of help. And maybe just a touch overwhelmed. Thank you, young one. If there's anything that I need of you, I shall be certain to ask. Though most especially, I hope you'll attend, if it would please you.
[With a plus one perhaps :>]
Oh! That is one I have never heard of before, but it sounds most beautiful! I hadn't considered any symbolism as deeply as that, but it makes sense. I suppose on an even grander scale, that is exactly what we've done, breaking free of our courts and leaving our old titles behind to be together instead. To turn that into such powerful symbol... Truly, I have goosebumps. That's breathtaking.

You guys could probably use something similar to symbolize that if you wanted? I know with the breaking of the bottle people keep the glass after its broken to add to stuff they make. My parents apparently did that with some of the pieces from their wedding.

But for what it's worth, the feeling goes both ways. Rue feels closer to all of the new friends they've made than any of the fey they've been associated with these last few thousand years.]
What a clever idea! I never would have thought broken glass could hold such meaning, but when you put it like that, it must be full of the fondest memories they have. I'll have to consider it. I'm wary of taking from other worlds and culture that I do not fully understand, only because I know how deep and powerful the meanings run for others, but we shall see. First, however, I must attempt to incorporate the tamest goblin traditions I can find.

What are some goblin traditions-? If you don't mind me asking anyway?

[Through the power of stubbornness, Rue will win.]
Goblins are... [Rue has spent many millennia learning how to say even the worst of things as diplomatically as possible. But it's different when this is about Hob. They really, truly do not mean to insult his former court, no matter how terribly they treated him. It was still his only family and home up until recently.] Unpredictable. And a little wild. As I understand it, most of their events involve fighting of some kind. And eating live animals whole. And then eating one another, if I'm not mistaken.
My Hob is, blessedly, an outlier amongst his kin.

[The spider will worry for the Owlbear in the distance.]
Oh.
Yeah, that would probably not work super well here. Though I'm sure a few people would wanna like pretend to fight or spar with each other to show off or something. That feels like a little much for a wedding tho

Agreed! At least for my own, I suppose. I don't need all of the over-the-top elegance and flash, but I would prefer not to have any sparring, stabbing or murder. I don't think that's too much to ask for.
[they hope]
Tell me, my dear, I must admit, I've been watching many movies that feature weddings and I'm most curious. When the officiant asks if there are any objections, is it truly so normal for those in the audience to make a dramatic argument against the couple? It seems to happen in every film!

Its like some old custom that most modern weddings don't actually do anymore. Usually, it was for like legal reasons opposed to like more dramatic ones. Like someone is marrying a cousin or something? I've only really been to one wedding when I was like really little, so I don't know a ton tbh.

Oh thank goodness! I was beginning to grow worried. As much as I love the absolute drama of it, I would hate to have the whole day ruined. And I would not be too pleased to see my Hob challenge someone to a duel in the middle of our wedding.
