All this science, I don't understand (Open)
Who: Senku Ishigami and everyone!
When: April
Where: Various: Apartment, ADI, the park...
Summary: An opportunity to meet the illustrious scientist in the context of one's choosing.
Warnings: Potential for altered perceptions, apocalypse. Will update if necessary.
I. A New Apartment
The whole experience thus far has been completely curious and unusual. Fortunately, Senku was not the type to put up a fuss, but rather someone who could roll and adapt to unusual situations, while trying to gather as much information as possible.
He’d been given the necessary tours and brought to this apartment and finally left to his own devices. Senku was wearing slacks, a button down with a tie, a labcoat and dress shoes but most notably, he had a tattered cape tied around his shoulders. He removed his shoes upon entry and walked further into the place. “Bigger than I would’ve thought...maybe not.” He murmured.
Senku wasn’t put off by a roommate situation inherently but as he wandered a stranger in this place there were multiple rooms. That was a bit novel. “Heh. Guess I don’t have to share a bed.”
II. Equipment/Information Technology
He’d been told he could work in two places if he wanted to, so that’s how Senku agreed to structure his day, if only because he didn’t want to find himself getting bored. He appreciated getting to work with his hands, and hoped at least they’d be looking for innovation.
However, heaven help the person who got Senku as the local IT tech who had to give tech support.
III. The Flowers Came Early
That was a lot of flowers.
Senku couldn’t say for sure how unusual they may be, but typically flowers didn’t appear like that in parks. Not without someone planning them to be that way and who would plant so many?
Did it really count as paranormal? Of course if this was the best this world could offer to paranormal, he would keep on believing that it likely didn’t exist, not without proper explanation.
“Something about these flowers seem kind of weird.” He commented a little bit. “Maybe we should check them out.”
Was this really going to be worth $100?
IV. CTRL + ALT + DEL
Even though he’d been accepted to the IT department, as a new arrival Senku has not had the opportunity to really distinguish himself.
He could not look any more bored if he tried. He was slouched in his seat like a teenager who was forced to attend a class they hated, which he definitely was not. There was nothing of interest about learning how to create a password. He knew that already. He knew how to crack into some serious hardware with government-level security and he’d accomplished this as a child.
“Ugh.” Senku groaned, he couldn’t help it. “This is such bullshit.”
Unfortunately for the trainer, if anything his education taught him, he was not going to get less disruptive.
V. Spring Festival
Out of force of habit, Senku made an appearance. Over the years he’d been compelled to show up to light events like this and now it was an ingrained habit. He didn’t hold the same position in this unusual world, but habits were hard to break.
He was far more interested in browsing the food stalls and getting a drink. He wouldn’t be playing any games, but checking out the crafters was also an option.
In the early evening, he found himself mildly distracted by an okay stage magician. He scoffed. “I’m almost sorry I called him a hack.” He declared out of nowhere, that might have been a bit strange.
Although he’d changed into more casual clothing thanks to the light shopping trip, cargo pants and t-shirt like he was some kind of college student instead of an esteemed scientist, he never removed the tattered cape. It likely made him look a bit...eccentric.
VI. Wildcard

"I chose two things, the technology department which is like computers and the like, and the machine maintenance, design and building. I've had a lot of jobs over the years, but I really like engineering." He would rather work than play, his interests were perhaps a bit odd.

Aside from being good with his ear to the ground and having street smarts, it was hard to see how he'd fit in. His body language was opening up now, though. He didn't look nearly as uncomfortable. "It's all kinda weird, especially the way the others keep talking about things I ain't seen yet." His own experiences in Dogtown aside, he could still squint and call those mental episodes if he tried real hard.
no subject
"I don't know yet, it could be." Senku responded. "If not, maybe I could get a transfer or something. I've got a lot of skills that could be of use in their mission."
He hummed a little bit and it was his turn so he ordered a corn dog and accepted it before moving closer to George. "I haven't seen anything like- well okay I've seen strange happenings before, exclusively to one thing but nothing like they're talking about here. Sounds entirely fictional, but I assume it must have some explanation."
no subject
He nodded. It was like almost everybody else he'd met working for ADI so far. Lots of skills. Made him wonder if they ever made mistakes.
"I thought that, too. Kinda still feel that way about some of it." He was a believe it when he sees it sort through and through. "That one thing you mentioned. Was that back home, or here?"
no subject
"But a lot of that mechanical knowledge transfers over."
He took a bite of his corndog while he asked his questions. "At home. There was an event where all of humanity was petrified. The mechanical aspects of that are somewhat outside of my knowledge, but what I do know is some of the science behind it. The technology is far outside our capabilities at the moment."
no subject
His brow furrowed. The only way he understood that word was in the context of terrified. "I'm not sure I follow." He wasn't afraid to admit it. He'd felt nothing but ignorant since getting here. This wasn't so different.
no subject
"Ah, well as far as we knew, we'd seen a light and every human's physical composition turned to stone. Like a statue. Except their minds. Their minds went into a stasis-like sleep. The cause was a parasitic artificial creature from another planet. Its goal was to get us to be its caretakers, in exchange for eternal life."
no subject
As for the rest of it, his face pinched up and he just...blinked a few times. That one was going to take more processing. "That's one a' the weirder things I've heard here, I gotta admit," he said once he could collect himself enough for it.
"How'd you avoid it?"
no subject
"I was fortunate to have kept my mind active so I broke free of it on my own, eventually, but there were six humans that avoided it because they were up on the International Space Station...just outside of Earth's atmosphere so they were spared. They returned, had children and a population of about 100 had survived at the end of all that time, in two different tiny villages."
no subject
"Once you broke free, what'd you do? Them others, the children, did you find them?"
no subject
"The children themselves had lived and died and populated themselves many generations over by the time I broke out, but yes, I managed to make contact with both villages over time. Initially though, I spent most of my time trying to survive alone in the wilderness." Senku snorted lightly. "And trying to crack how to break the petrification on purpose. I did actually figure that out, but it took a year of work. A friend of mine broke free six months into that. Made it easier to do more research because I could get him to focus on the survival part."
no subject
"You sure have lived one helluva life. Almost sorry to think you got dragged here somehow. Sounds like you'll at least be plenty useful in them labs." He shook his head and reached up to rub just under his hat brim at the nape of his neck.
no subject
He had no intention of dying, that was his plan at any rate.
"I might be, or it might be beyond my comprehension and I'll have to study more. It's hard to say."

He grinned. "See you later."
