All this science, I don't understand (Open)
Who: Senku Ishigami and everyone!
When: April
Where: Various: Apartment, ADI, the park...
Summary: An opportunity to meet the illustrious scientist in the context of one's choosing.
Warnings: Potential for altered perceptions, apocalypse. Will update if necessary.
I. A New Apartment
The whole experience thus far has been completely curious and unusual. Fortunately, Senku was not the type to put up a fuss, but rather someone who could roll and adapt to unusual situations, while trying to gather as much information as possible.
He’d been given the necessary tours and brought to this apartment and finally left to his own devices. Senku was wearing slacks, a button down with a tie, a labcoat and dress shoes but most notably, he had a tattered cape tied around his shoulders. He removed his shoes upon entry and walked further into the place. “Bigger than I would’ve thought...maybe not.” He murmured.
Senku wasn’t put off by a roommate situation inherently but as he wandered a stranger in this place there were multiple rooms. That was a bit novel. “Heh. Guess I don’t have to share a bed.”
II. Equipment/Information Technology
He’d been told he could work in two places if he wanted to, so that’s how Senku agreed to structure his day, if only because he didn’t want to find himself getting bored. He appreciated getting to work with his hands, and hoped at least they’d be looking for innovation.
However, heaven help the person who got Senku as the local IT tech who had to give tech support.
III. The Flowers Came Early
That was a lot of flowers.
Senku couldn’t say for sure how unusual they may be, but typically flowers didn’t appear like that in parks. Not without someone planning them to be that way and who would plant so many?
Did it really count as paranormal? Of course if this was the best this world could offer to paranormal, he would keep on believing that it likely didn’t exist, not without proper explanation.
“Something about these flowers seem kind of weird.” He commented a little bit. “Maybe we should check them out.”
Was this really going to be worth $100?
IV. CTRL + ALT + DEL
Even though he’d been accepted to the IT department, as a new arrival Senku has not had the opportunity to really distinguish himself.
He could not look any more bored if he tried. He was slouched in his seat like a teenager who was forced to attend a class they hated, which he definitely was not. There was nothing of interest about learning how to create a password. He knew that already. He knew how to crack into some serious hardware with government-level security and he’d accomplished this as a child.
“Ugh.” Senku groaned, he couldn’t help it. “This is such bullshit.”
Unfortunately for the trainer, if anything his education taught him, he was not going to get less disruptive.
V. Spring Festival
Out of force of habit, Senku made an appearance. Over the years he’d been compelled to show up to light events like this and now it was an ingrained habit. He didn’t hold the same position in this unusual world, but habits were hard to break.
He was far more interested in browsing the food stalls and getting a drink. He wouldn’t be playing any games, but checking out the crafters was also an option.
In the early evening, he found himself mildly distracted by an okay stage magician. He scoffed. “I’m almost sorry I called him a hack.” He declared out of nowhere, that might have been a bit strange.
Although he’d changed into more casual clothing thanks to the light shopping trip, cargo pants and t-shirt like he was some kind of college student instead of an esteemed scientist, he never removed the tattered cape. It likely made him look a bit...eccentric.
VI. Wildcard

"I'm a scientist." Senku responded. He wasn't considering the cape made him look like some kind of performer.

"All of them." He was completely serious. "I've done significant work in all of the hard science fields. Soft sciences aren't my thing."

Setting the pole down in the corner he sets the damp bag near a cutting board. "Sorry, didn't know we were getting a new guy. Not sure I caught enough. We'll see." He continues, pulling out a fish and picking up a kitchen knife. "I'm Manji." With an ease that shows his confidence and comfort with a knife in his hand he begins to clean the fish. Cutting out quick and effortless fillets from the first fish.
no subject
He followed after Manji, looking around at the kitchen a little curiously. "Senku." He responded in kind.
"Don't worry about it, I had dinner last night." He hummed. "If there's not enough I'll be fine for another day." Senku admired his knife skills. "Do you normally cook?"
Sorry for the delay. Life happened.
"Yeah, someone's got to cook. Live alone so if I don't do it then I don't eat." While no chef and most of his meals are fairly basic and plain, they're not bad. "Although sometimes Garner will cook as well." He nods towards the other man's room. "That's his room."
No worries, happens to all of us!
"I taught my roommate a bunch of things, at home I mean." Senku hummed. "And others, but we also know a chef and they definitely outclass my efforts every time." He smiled fondly.
"Sometimes they'll make food for me if Gen's gone, but otherwise I'm left to my own devices. I'm happy to help."

She checks her phone, making a note of the coordinates of the oddly-rectangular patch of flowers, then nods.
"The shape is too uniform," she says. The corners of her mouth quirk slightly upwards. "It's probably not a body. Do you have measuring tape?"
no subject
"Not offhand." Senku admitted with a shake of his head. "Nor any rope and it would be faster to buy something rather than make it."
He knew that, from experience.
no subject
Just...not usually as a makeshift measuring tool. But it's a decent idea, so she'll take it.
She unslings her pack from her shoulders, unfastening it and pulling out a neat bundle of thin nylon rope - the sort of thing easily found anywhere that might have cause to stock climbing equipment - and a wax pencil. She eyes the items with an air of faint dissatisfaction that suggests she's mentally adding measuring tape to her field kit for the next expedition.
"This will have to do."
no subject
He poked at the soil, and rubbed it between two fingers as he considered it, wondering what was making it so fertile that there were so many flowers about.
"Noted. I haven't carried a tool belt in years, maybe I should revisit that."

V. Spring Festival
"Better take a pass on the root beer," he said, matter-of-fact, a short, taciturn guy in sturdy denim work pants, a denim work jacket with brass buttons, and a slouchy brimmed hat. "Waste 'a money. You one of the acts? They oughtta comp you, not make you wait in line like everybody else."
no subject
It was strange in his world too, but everyone was used to his eccentricities.
"No, not at all. Performance isn't really my thing, more my roommate's thing. I'm a scientist."
no subject
"Oh, yeah?" Something in his body language closed off a little, not a visceral withdrawal. He just seemed to shrink a bit, seem less affable. "One 'a them smart folks. That's good. Guess you got plenty a' work to do here."
no subject
He wasn't terribly good at reading body language, but he shifted slightly when he was called smart. "Intelligence isn't everything." Senku responded with a shake of his head. People called him that, a genius even, but that never sat right with him.
"So they tell me. I chose a department where I could work with my hands." Senku had been spoiled for choice really, but he liked working with his hands.

At least the teacher was interesting? Obviously not human, clearly some kind of hologram, and also full of horrifying anecdotes about the dangers of improper cybersecurity.
...She's also entirely unamused by Senku's attitude.
"Well then, if you're that bored, maybe you'd like to help those who are struggling?"
no subject
"Ugh." He groaned at the suggestion. He never liked classroom settings, and he never handled listening to things he already knew terribly well.
"I guess." Senku sat up a bit and tried to refocus from tortured unwilling student to teaching mindset.
no subject
"Join the club buddy. I wish that we didn't need this class too, but unfortunately, even people who aren't from completely different technological eras can't be trusted to take care of their technology." Fortunately he seems to be cooperative despite his attitude, so she'll indicate a guy who looks like he could be as far back as ancient Greece. "Think you can help catch him up?"
no subject
Senku just resented having to sit in a classroom again. He'd never liked it, he'd never enjoyed being a student, he much rather did his own thing. He was very very lucky that had been permitted when he was in school.
He crossed the floor and sat with the student in question. If he was checked on, he could be heard describing in very small baby steps how technology gets to this point, how the security works in clear, well-practiced detail.

He pauses there in the doorway, listening where clouded eyes offered no better input, before deciding to call out. "Not unless you really want to, I suppose, but the rooms seem quite large."
He's dressed simply, a pair of joggers someone had helped him pick out and a plain t-shirt. The most out of place thing aside from his clouded white eyes and the scar over his right eye, is the long strip of black leather coiled around his left arm from elbow to wrist.
"Hello there?"
no subject
"I can assure you it's been a few years since I slept with a stranger in the same mat, and I don't exactly miss it." He grinned. "I'm fine with my own room."
He looked the man over, the eyes were noticeable and he considered that it was entirely possible this man couldn't see him.
"I'm Dr. Senku Ishigami. I've been assigned here. Senku's fine though, I'm not really big on formalities."
no subject
He steps away from his doorway and towards the new presence, his hand trailing the wall until he stops just before him and offers it to shake instead. It's calloused, but his grip firm. "Garner Cinderbrooke. A pleasure, Senku. I think you'll find neither of us here stand nor sit much for formality regardless. Welcome."
no subject
"Nice to meet you." He said, because he knew that was the proper response. He shook his hand firmly. His hand is very calloused, but soft like he'd been using a hand cream of some kind. He was definitely the kind of person who worked with his hands, although it may not be obvious what he worked with.
"That's good, never much cared for it, but you know how it is. People expect shit and sometimes throwing your weight around is the only way they'll listen to you. Pain in the ass if you ask me."
