If no one's told you about audio books yet, that ought to be next on your list for sleepless nights

I imagine, if there were more hours in the day or less obligations I took up, I would do nothing but listen to books and music. Which, I admit is odd and indulgent.

That's not all that far off what I'd do back home when I wasn't working. What's the point of living if you're not being indulgent?
no subject
[He laughs to himself for the second part of that.]
That is not at all how I was raised. Indulgence was wasteful. What did you do before? Other than occasionally make tapestries?
no subject
[He knows how the internet works.]
Well, that sounds like an awfully dull way to live. I've done all sorts, a little academics, some consulting here and there, project management, that kind of thing. It's real busy when it's busy, but there's a decent amount of downtime, too

[He’s…not wrong. In retrospect, it was boring, but at the time, it had simply been life. There were a lot of things he was still learning were not quite right.]
Forgive my curiosity, but are you an elf or, perhaps, a dwarf?
no subject
[Case in point.]
I'm neither an elf or dwarf. I take it you have those where you're from?
no subject
I do. They are naturally longer-lived and you have made insinuation in the things you've said that you are as well, so I figured I ought to ask.
no subject
Oh, I'm not anything interesting [oops 😅] Just get bored easily, really, never liked to stick with one thing for too long
no subject
Really? Then you must be quite skilled in your various endeavors.
[Perhaps he's wrong. He usually prides himself on spotting connections, but he's never actually met this man, so who is he to say?]

[He briefly considers privating the conversation, but he knows that means fuck all, and anyway, it'd just make more people suspicious if they happened to stumble across it.]
I'm probably rubbish at about half of them. Makes it a lot easier to give up and move on, honestly

Then you've much time and wealth to take on so many hobbies. Still, a jack of all trades is far more impressive than a master of one, that also likely means you've lived a hundred lives through each venture.
I apologize if my speculating troubles you, there are a few things I have limited practice with and making friends is, unfortunately, one of them.
no subject
You're not wrong on that one. My parents left me a good bit of money, so I've not had to worry about holding down a job
[It's lies all the way down.]
You're fine, mate, might just be worth remembering that these conversations aren't private unless you choose to make them that way
no subject
That is fortuitous, despite the loss, and at least you seem to be doing better with yours than a friend of mine has done with his recently.
[Raleigh seemed to enjoy all his booze, drugs, and companionship, but Garner felt antsy even just thinking about doing nothing else with his time. To each their own.]
Ah. A fair point, I did indeed forget. I will remember for next time.
