log;
Who: Katrina and you!
When: Sept 13-15
Where: ADI HQ, ADI apartments, the memorial room, wildcard
Summary: Katrina makes rounds to assess the state of her Gloucester home base
Warnings: past character death; will edit as needed
• HQ
[ Who's that short-ish young woman walking around the non-restricted parts of HQ, looking at everything like it's hers and she's willing to fight about it? It's Katrina, the angriest mermaid, who has been informed she's been gone for almost a year and now needs to see for herself what's changed.
She ends up in the gym and decides to stay there, training much like she used to. She'll also watch others train, and if there's any advice she can give anyone, she'll go up to them and give it in her usual serious tone. ]
• apartments
[ More wandering and inspecting. Now and then she'll climb a tall tree, the better to see from.
And then there's when she scales the building by way of apartment balconies, making sure it looks like something a strong, athletic human can do. Totally normal! She just wants to get up to the roof. ]
• memorial room
[ She's here to see if the people she remembers are still here, or at least not dead. When she does find someone she knew, she makes the signs to honor them the way she would for her fellows beneath the waves, and sings a short song of mourning for them. Katrina will not respond while she is singing, but she'll be conversational (for her) after. ]

[After all, things would be awfully bad for some of the people who don't look human at all, like Rue for instance.]
And they don't mind us using our powers near as much as they used to. [Because she's not sure if Katrina's actually been filled in on the changes around here, or not.]

Why do they make this change to rules?
[ And what's the catch? ]

But Nia, the Warden, she's a Hunt avatar. We decided to keep her in charge anyway, as long as she keeps herself under control. And... she's giving us a little more freedom. As long as we keep ourselves under control. Feeding off random people's still a big no, but we can use our powers when we need to.
[Which means feeding off the people and things the ADI thinks they should be fighting. Which is its own can of worms, but it's better than the eggshells they were walking on before.]

[ Shades of gray between good and bad are still something Katrina struggles with. ]

She does. She's just... tied to it. Like I am. Like most of us are to different ones. It happens when you get mixed up in this.
[Some people think that just because the off-worlders were like that when they showed up that they have a better excuse, but she's honestly not sure.]

You are not enemy. This means... Nia is also not enemy.
[ ...yet. ]
Sister, if she will help stop apocalypse, then Nia is not enemy.

[For better or worse, that 'yet' is on both of their minds. For now, though, they don't really have the luxury of turning down the help they can get.]
Still, we've talked before about whether using our powers is worth it to stop these things. [And whether the humans just wanted them easier to control.] I think... it might be. So long as we're careful.

[ Strategic. Keeping an eye on Nia is all they can do. ]
I can change form if it help fight... This is good. I am stronger in siren body.
[ But she'll have to feed the Extinction to do so. Well. A little bad for a lot of good. Like working with humans to stop the drilling in the cove. ]
Sister. I must go to apartment and meet roommate. But I am now here. We must meet again.

[Of course, that's still unlikely given the glamour, but you never know. Maybe eventually they'll talk Milo into giving them more say over the whole thing.]
Oh--yeah, alright, we should--[And then she remembers something, mostly because Katrina was looking at the memorial wall. It's not the happiest topic, but maybe it;s better to bring up while she was thinking about the people they've lost anyway.]
Oh. It... doesn't have to be now, but I should give you something. From George.
no subject
Her gaze goes to the memorial for George. They didn't know each other for long, but she remembers how much he cared for other people. He spoke up for those without shelter in Wolf Pen when no one else would. She'd respected him. ]
Yes. I will take his gift. Eda... sister. Thank you.
