[Mini-Mingle] A Shopping Trip

Given that those who're staying at the ADI housing are getting a clothing allowance, Meredith has taken it upon herself to organize a shopping trip to the Marshalls at Gloucester Crossing. The store is full of surprising deals, and a wide enough variety of clothing that people of all genders might find something interesting. There's even some of the new fall selections in stock already.

While Meredith's been sure to grab those who obviously need a little help, and those who'll obviously enjoy the chance to get out of ADI territory, everyone's welcome to come along for the trip.

(ooc: feel free to tag around with one another as well as me, this is just a fun way to introduce our characters to one another)

Mercy stares at her for a long moment, trying to process how a machine could tailor clothes. "Like... a printing press?" That's the fanciest machine Mercy knows of, and at least this has completely sidetracked her from accosting the clerk. She holds up the shirt and puzzles over it. Maybe you could... well, if you had something like one of the die cutters the kitchen uses, you could cut out the shape of a shirt with a press. But how would you stitch it together?

This is thrilling! Mercy's lips part slightly as she watches the little screen light up with different images that look real enough to jump off the device and at her. She half-jumps when the needle going through is demonstrated, half-expecting it to poke out of the phone and stick her.

The video comes to and end, and Mercy holds onto the phone before offering it back. "How do I get a sewing machine? I can make everyone clothes!" She can make some people clothes... provided she has the material. She's not a tailor, but she certainly knows the basics and can stitch herself a simple dress or shirt, even breeches for when they're working more!

The concept of a paycheck is still such a foreign thing to her, but she nods. "I'm gonna." She glances at the shirt she's still holding and nods to herself. "Right, well, it ain't like I never gone in the same clothes for a week or two. 'Long as they don't need us being formal, I just need something to wear when I'm doing the washing up, and I can keep what I got so far."

Her dress is as good as anything, even if it's... very unlike what other people here are wearing. Well, if they want to look, that's on them. "Thanks for telling me 'bout this. Saves a fair sight of trouble. There's too many choices here."

"I'll thank you kindly, ma'am. I'm in A1 with Ms. Monika and Mr. Akechi. Brother's kindness-" She stops herself. "May be Spring Tide keep you. I'll come over with some of them ointments once we head back. You said you were needing some, aye?"

"Oh! Sister Sarah's always been that way. She likes a little tipple of Fire Whiskey in the morning to help ease her into the day, too." Mercy tilts her head, glancing up toward the ceiling as she finishes placing the shirt back on the rack. "I ain't seen a cellar around ADI, but I'm sure there's a tavern 'round here we could get something like that for you, too.

"Providing you're the Fire Whiskey sort. I'm more for Late Rose Ale, personal-like."

"Never hurt Sister Sarah." As far as Mercy knows, anyway. "But if you got another way about it, that'll do. Reckon I should get to heading back if I ain't buying nothing. You found what you were looking for here, Miss?"
