[Mini-Mingle] A Shopping Trip

Given that those who're staying at the ADI housing are getting a clothing allowance, Meredith has taken it upon herself to organize a shopping trip to the Marshalls at Gloucester Crossing. The store is full of surprising deals, and a wide enough variety of clothing that people of all genders might find something interesting. There's even some of the new fall selections in stock already.

While Meredith's been sure to grab those who obviously need a little help, and those who'll obviously enjoy the chance to get out of ADI territory, everyone's welcome to come along for the trip.

(ooc: feel free to tag around with one another as well as me, this is just a fun way to introduce our characters to one another)

"Uhh, I mean, Delaware probably exists? I don't know much about the States, sorry."

He shifts his weight between his feet, trying to come up with some kind of excuse for sounding like a dope here and coming up pretty empty. "Wait, are there people here who aren't, like, actually from Earth? Like another planet entirely?"

[henchgal]

"Some aren't even human. Ask around sometime about Caduceus; he calls himself a firbolg. He's big and pink and shaggy. But not threatening, at least, whatever he is."

At least, not physically. He gets right to the heart of people, though.

"A what?" Okay! That's news to him! That's very news to him! Martin's beginning to feel like he needs a reset on this entire conversation, and clears his throat in a way that hopefully makes him sound less rude.

"Sorry, sorry, that's-- that's not an American thing, right? Isn't someone going to notice?"

[henchgal]

"I think ADI has a solution for those who are...conspicuous, in the field. Some sort of illusion, but I don't know the exact details." She shrugs.

"He's a good guy, though, so if you do run into him...don't be weird about it."

[lowficharm]

"Oh, oh, no of-- of course not." Martin's pretty good about not making it weird, at least when it comes to being in front of people he doesn't know. Just to make sure he has somthing to do with his hands, he goes back to shuffling among the clothes.

"It's kind of weird that they've got everything figured out, right? How did they even plan for something like that? How, how do you even develop one of those?"

[henchgal]

"While I don't have extra insight on the organization, my guess is they're holding it all together with paperclips and bubble gum, figuring out each piece as they go and trying to look like they know what they're doing for our sake."

Not that Meredith has any experience with that, nope.

[lowficharm]

"Well, that's..." Martin goes to say something, and then just sort of lets it die out, because that is kind of what most organizations run like. Or well, it was the perception of academic institutions on the whole, which he isn't sure the ADI qualifies as, but is close enough. It's complicated.

"I mean, I kind of hope they know some things? But maybe not... not too many, you know, like there's still things to figure out and they're not just lying or, uh,-- you know, it's, it's fine." Goodness, he's going to tie himself in knots. "Maybe if we're lucky they've got, uhm, staples, at least. Staples and... kiddie glue."
