[Donna isdressed for the beach with a bathing suit, wide-brimmed, and sunglasses. After what happened in Wolf Pen, she's fairly certain she deserves a nice little beach holiday. Maybe for the next month or so. She's been lazing in the sun for a while, but her mind turns to thoughts of food, and she wanders over to see what's on offer.]
Hotdogs, hamburgers... or fried clams?
[She glances at the nearest person, who just happens to be Quill.]
You don't eat the shell, you silly goose! [Donna huffs at the idea.] You usually steam them and then crack them open and eat the meat that's inside. Not sure how it works with frying. Probably pull the meat out beforehand?
We're not shelling them now. Someone else already did that. C'mon. You need to try this. At least I've had regular steamed clams.
[She gestures Quill to follow and joins the queue for fresh fried clams.]
Had some really interesting shellfish once when I was out exploring with my friends. Alien lobsters. Things were as big as a pony and fed the entire restaurant for the evening. Paired lovely with the wine.
The Doctor said it was basically space lobster, and it tasted well enough like one. If I was eating some sort of, I dunno, space spider and he was having me on about it, I'll step on his toes or something. He's probably got a foot to spare lying around. He's a weird alien, too...
Keeps his hand in a jar on the console of his ship. Like it's one of those little hula girls on a car dash.
( an alien, a ship. the hand is gone by the time quill visits the tardis but-- )
The Doctor? Of course you know him.
( and out of everything of course someone knows him here. which you'd think would be a good thing. and it kind of is, she's grateful to him even if she sounds as if she's not a fan )
[Wait. Food is forgotten for a moment. Donna's face lights up with excitement.]
You know the Doctor? You've met him. W-when? I mean, what ye- Oh, god, if you're not human, that's not going to mean a bloody thing. Did he- how did he look? What did he look like? Tall and skinny with silly brown hair? Brown or blue suit? He's kind of got a theme, but I've told him, he really ought to branch out, honestly.
( not that he'd really had time to either time she'd seen him. though it quill had been less involved in her own situation she might have noticed which name he was looking at one the board )
Though that's interesting. Very... self-involved.
( not what was happening being of concern but who he was with )

[She glances at the nearest person, who just happens to be Quill.]
Have you tried these?
no subject
( there's a very confused sound from her, a matching expression )
What are they?
no subject
[She gives Quill a confused look.]
They're like... like little shell things?
[She uses her hands to mime a shell opening and closing.]
no subject
( a shell? sounds... unpleasant even to her )
I wouldn't have thought your teeth could handle it.
( human teeth. because you eat the shell right )
me, having to go and look up how people eat clams because i don't do seafood...
you're the best of us
( give her something she can stab with a stick and roast over fire? is that how cooking works?
let's be honest, quill's earth cooking is terrible, she hasn't figured it out. whatever she did on rhodia apparently doesn't apply )
And they're small.
Apologies for the delay! Gonna try to get back on the horse here after some brainrot.
[She gestures Quill to follow and joins the queue for fresh fried clams.]

Alien lobsters? Are you sure it was actually a lobster?
( and not just an alien )

[No...]

( so there. she's not human but she can still play at one for a little longer. though there's also a good chance he might not )
And he wasn't tall and skinny. Old, weird clothes. Not the Doctor you remember.
( she knows enough about who and what he is to know why )

[Donna clicks her tongue. She's not sure who to ask about.]
He didn't mention a Rose, did he?
[Not Martha. But Rose had known an earlier version of him, from what she knows.]

Excuse me for trying to figure out where he is on his timeline. I'm assuming he dropped in to save you from something. Aliens?
