( hearing that there was a library was a good thing. she hoped. the vague information that quill had been given so far sounded both bullshit and just another tuesday but that seemed to sum up her existence now. which made information more important.► CANTEEN
and she could handle a computer. granted, she didn't know exactly what she was searching for but she'd uncovered interesting (and disturbing) things on less before.
except after her first couple of searches, clicks and maybe a bit of a rabbit hole she'd ended up on ancestry. it wasn't what she'd been searching for, didn't have a relation to what she'd initially googled. and actually was more confusing than anything )
How's this supposed to help anyone?
( and why would anyone want it to? family history? endless searching that probably wasn't relevant or related? sounded awful )
( the last time she'd come over for coffee she'd ended up distracted by something else and hadn't actually found the coffee. this time she was beginning her search again, poking at what was nearby and generally missing the coffee machine that's probably right next to her.► FLOOR B3
it's not entirely her fault, she's not familiar with one and is used to making it herself. which is probably why there's some irritated muttering as she keeps looking because how is it so hard to find something.
clueing her in is probably as risky as it is helpful. good luck )
( considering that quill can't actually use any of the weapons available you'd think it'd be torturous for her to look. it is, a little at least but what soldier would she be if she wasn't at least a little informed about the defensive capabilities of what was here.
besides, she can still hold them to see how they'd work even if that's all she can do.
though she happens to come down when someone's getting training -- of knives of all things. it's interesting to watch, sad in some ways and-- the last throw might have hit painful )
The balance is wrong.
( of the knife. did they know she was there? whatever. she's observed enough and at least what's happening isn't entirely the trainee's fault )
Probably badly made or kept. It makes the landing harder.

no subject
( or how fruit even becomes a tea rather than what it is. is it still tea?
whatever. she's not looking for tea at least. not that coffee is always so simple, at least not if you buy it from anywhere else )
I just want coffee.
no subject
[Truth told, he could take it one further. He doesn't know why tea at all. She's not asking about that, though. She's asking about coffee, and since he's still right next to the pot...]
If you get you a cup down, I'll give you a pour.
[He shifts his cup to his off hand and reaches for the carafe again.]
You need room in it for anything, or you take it black?
no subject
Uh... just as it is.
( black, quill )
It's already made in that?
no subject
Yeah. Didn't have anything like this back home. Sure makes it easier to grab a cup whenever you wants it.
[He's not too bothered by sacrificing quality over convenience for something like coffee.]
God knows I needs it with some a' them classes.
no subject
( says quill who probably ignored 90% of what adi told her when she got here.
or maybe she's heard of them and... just ignored the fact that she was supposed to go to them.
she'll get turfed there eventually )

[He pulls his phone out of his pocket to give it a bit of a shake.]
Ain't got nothing like this back home. I'm learning it from the ground up.
[He tucks it back away again.]
I understand the reasonin' behind what they're saying about the passwords and all that. Jes' getting it to work right's a slog.
no subject
Tell me one thing you need to do on it.
( that he doesn't yet know. she's not going to assume how he wants to use it. or what he knows.
and she had to learn these quickly )

[He unlocks it before handing it over.
No, George! The tech instructor would be rolling their eyes so hard right now. This is the exact opposite of what they've been teaching.]
I ain't got the hang a' how to put it on voice control fast like.
[Because constantly fumbling for tiny buttons he inevitably fat fingers anyway is going to get him hurt in the field sooner or later.]
