To the Gentlefolk of Other Worlds,
My name is Sister Mercy Graves of the Spring Tide. I have been told this is the best means by which to reach all who dwell in hope and fear in this place of refuge. It has been a difficult time for many, myself included. The creatures in the water who took us from the streets and wrapped us in a terrible cloth have been slain, but their scars remain in our hearts.
I would ask, who among us found themselves transformed? How have you felt since? I have aids for sleep if you find yourself entangled with the Dread Watcher's claws. She that hooks and hangs a body with nightmares. I have taken to lessons in the healing facilities in ADI. I would surely welcome the company of those who would learn, as well. And if you have knowledge of the tinctures and tools of a practitioner, I would beg your guidance as I train in these new arts. There is so very much to learn and I look forward to the challenge of it, that I might help those who best need it in our fight against the dark forces of this world.
As seasons turn and carry on,
So to the winds we fly.
The hope we bring is never gone,
It strengthens by and by.
The cheer is ever in our hearts,
A song of joy to bide.
We all must love and do our parts
To raise the great Spring Tide.
May the Spring Bring Life to You and Yours,
Mercy Graves

The Jealous Eye is another name for her. She steals your fears and makes them your nightmares, if that is what you mean?
Are you truly an archivist? The man who helped teach me to read was. It is a noble profession.

And yes, I am an Archivist.

She is a god as surely as the Spring Tide, the Blind Mother, and Brother Earth are gods. Those who worship her are wicked people with hate in their hearts, though. They are not welcome in Leigland.
Do you plan to continue your good work in the archives at ADI? I know they have a library, but I was not sure of an archive.

Mercy Graves

I admit I've never heard of Leigland. So somewhere different then. Interesting set of gods.
I am considering it. I would like access to some of their information.

Not many folk have heard tell of it or the village I hail from, Evergreen. It has an abbey of some renown. Many heroes have been prophesized in that place and even come to be there. The Blind Mother's chosen have a particular insight into when the world might have need of them most.
[No one would know she's being snide, thank goodness. She and the others had made a pact to keep it secret. Let the faithful have their fairytales, so long as it was the truth going forward.]
I have not yet had trouble asking for things in the library, but joining as a scholar would have its own benefits. I'll wish you luck, in whatever you study.

Mercy Graves

And does that usually work out well for anyone involved?
And I agree. I do wonder how much more information there might be that isn't so easily given out.
no subject
I expect that would depend on your perspective. Those who pledge their allegiance to Torland or the Sidbutian Empire would have one thing to say about it. Those who hail from Leigland would have another. It has been good for the protection of our borders.
Do you think they are keeping very many things from us? The people I have met have seemed very open.

Mercy Graves

I think most people have secrets. And I'm not sure if they're keeping things from us, or they just don't have the information.
no subject
I would think they do not have the information. Given what happened with the kelpies, it would seem they may be as in the dark on some things as we are. But the good folk here can serve as candles to illuminate, I am sure.

Mercy Graves

Perhaps. Or perhaps they have some other reasons for hiding information from us.
no subject
What reasons do you think those are? It is surely fine and clever to be suspicious of a body, but to fear simply because you are not certain seems a practice fit for fools. If you will pardon my writing it plainly.

Mercy Graves

Plenty of reasons.

I cannot speak to those first two, but this place is fighting against those terrible gods. They've said as much and shown it, have they not? They wanted to get rid of those kelpies hurting people.

I will hold my judgment, sir. I have known evil people in my time, and these people have not shown themselves to be that.

Dear Mr. Jon,
Do you have faith, sir? Belief in something higher than just yourself? If you do, maybe take comfort in the notion that people like that will get their due in time.

It is a shame you know only cruel gods. There are ones in my world with a deep goodness to them. The Spring Tide can wash away your fears, if you'll let it.

Dear Mr. Jon,
The Spring Tide does not drown! It cleanses, renews, heals. You take baths, do you not?

Mercy Graves

And yes I take baths. Last time I checked, the level of my bath didn't have waves or tides and wasn't capable of dragging me underneath or carrying me away from land.

Dear Mr. Jon,
That is not what the Spring Tide is about. It is good and healing and making things better for people, not worse. You do not understand it, yet, but I will show you. If you ever find yourself in need of healing, I will be there with aid, the Spring Tide will guide my hands to help.

Mercy Graves

Dear Mr. Jon,
I pray you do not have need of the Spring Tide to heal you, but if you do, and you are willing, I will be there. Thank you.
