I'm thinking of going into Staff Development. What skills are people looking to develop?

And/or what skills do you have that might be useful that I could learn?

I'd be happy to. We'll have to pick a time, but I try to work out every day so it should be easy enough.

[ADI won't let him work himself to the bone, so he's got to find other ways to fill his time. He's very industrious.]

That makes perfect sense, then. In a few ways.

I don't have a lot of experience with werewolves, though they do exist in my world. They tend to keep to themselves so most of what I'm aware of is through lore and secondhand accounts.

I'm very open, honestly. ADI will only let me take so many shifts so most evenings, I've got time. So I'm happy to work around your schedule. I try to visit the gym or the pool at least three times a week, if that's any help.

Magic is very much a family matter for me, so I grew up with training from a very young age and eventually, went into a line of work that required both mundane security and supernatural awareness and skills. It's been very helpful for me here, taking a similar role.

I can't think of any questions at the moment, but if anything occurs to me, I'll be sure to ask. And if anything comes across as rude, please let me know because I don't wish to offend.

Just a bit, I suppose. It was expected of me in my old company, as a ranking member of the organization. Old habits are hard to shake and I like to be useful. Plus, you're absolutely right...I've been lucky enough to fall into almost exactly my accustomed role, so there's always plenty to be done here.

[It helps keep his mind off things, mostly.]

Mondays would be fine with me. I only have some equipment of my own, but the gym does provide some as well. And I'd be happy to compare notes, if you need any help settling into things here. I am very sure that your skills will come in handy here, though. Especially since the things that happen here tend to affect everyone at some point, whether they're actively on investigations or not.

I think your experience will still be useful, even if there aren't any other werewolves here (That I know of, at least). And most of us wind up doing investigations at one point or another, whether by choice or necessity. Even if it takes you a little bit of time to settle, there's seldom a shortage of things to be done and keeping up training is very important.

The gym at ADI proper has practice weapons, protective gear, and all the basics for training and working out. Including a shooting range, which I've been making good use of. There's also an indoor pool, which I appreciate.

They don't give out weapons easily, unless you want pepper spray or a taser, but I've been able to replace some of my gear out of my own paycheck and I still have my pistol. I lost most of my belongings when I arrived here, unfortunately, but I've managed well enough.

That's an issue, too: when things happen, they tend to spread fast and affect a lot of people. So, being prepared for the worst is really the safest thing.

Investigating is also the best way to make bonus money, here. Often there are rewards offered for proof of the unusual and strange goings-on, particularly in Dogtown, and on our salary that extra $100 or so is a big help.

I'd be happy to sit in on one of your boxing classes, sometime. I have some training in self-defense and martial arts, but I need to get in better shape, maybe branch out a bit. Or simply some sparring practice would be welcome, though I don't find a lot of people in my weight class here.

It's unfortunate that it's necessary, but probably the safest approach. This place tends to surprise you even when you think you're prepared for the worst.

And by all means, just let me know. I don't have a lot of experience with boxing specifically, but my background is very mixed. I learned to fight from a security and self-defense standpoint, so the emphasis was very much on practical application.

I'm 6'4", 250.

Unfortunately, I think that's true for a lot of situations. And this place seems to draw in those with some sort of troubled background, so I expect many of us have that sort of outlook in common.

I definitely think I'm interested in your lessons. I'm always glad to learn more and test out different tactics and styles. Size is an advantage in many cases, but it's not everything, especially when you take into account the presence of the supernatural.

I've had the tar beaten out of me by physical mages half my size. To say nothing of the completely alien creatures that seem to turn up with alarming frequency here.
