(closed) apartment A2 mingle
[Free housing is such a blessing for Zoe. No way in hell would she have figured out her own living situation in one night. Having roommates isn't exactly ideal, but she certainly isn't going to turn down the offer—if she doesn't get along with her roommates, she can find a different place to live, right?
...The thought of not getting along with her roommates is heavy on her mind when she reaches the entrance. And of course it is. She has a hard enough time making friends on a regular day, and if this is an abnormal day for her, she knows it's likely the same for her roommates. Please just let this first night be peaceful, she pleads silently, to no one in particular.
She almost doesn't want to open the door, but what else is she going to do? Going home isn't an option now. Or, rather, this is home, now. With a sigh, she enters, and makes her presence known.]
Anybody in here? Or do I got this place to myself for now?

Can I take care of myself, [she says, more a statement than a question.] I've been takin' care of myself for nearin' on ten years. Had to teach myself how to kill an' eat gators to get by. I can handle myself.
no subject
Okay then. You don't need me harassing you. What can I do to make it up to you?
[ He may be tone-deaf to a lot of things, but she's so clearly annoyed with him that it's even obvious to him. ]
no subject
Sorry. I’m just touchy.
[So much for good first impressions… she knows she didn’t have to be so harsh. But he was being rude, after all, so she doesn’t feel bad taking his offer.]
You could show me what you’re cookin’.

[ 'Moody teenagers' was only just the beginning of describing them. But he perks up considerably when she asks after the food, clapping his hands together. ]
Okay! Follow me!
[ He heads to the kitchen. The so called soup will resemble more of a sludge when she looks at it, but he seems blissfully unaware. ]

She enters without knocking, of course, because she lives here now. What catches her attention first is actually the smell. It's...difficult to place exactly what it is, but it has a distinct savory quality that tells her it's food. Plus, she can hear faint noise in the kitchen.
She calls into the apartment as she makes her way to the kitchen, voice lilting and singsong.] Hellooo~? Is someone cooking?
[Obviously someone is cooking. She's already popping her head through the doorway of the kitchen, grinning excitedly at the prospect of food and company. She eagerly greets the two she finds.] Hi there!
no subject
Oh, hey—you’re our third roommate, I’m guessin’?
[Please please talk about something other than the food.]
no subject
You're adorable!
[ He points at her and turns to Zoe. ]
Do you see how adorable she is?
no subject
[Though she's glad to make a good first impression. People tend to be more patient with you when you're dumb if you're also cute.
She answers Zoe with a carefree little wave of her hand, as if trying to wave off Gojou's question so that Zoe doesn't feel pressured to answer it.] It looks like it! Guess I'm late to the party, huh?
[The sludge soup party.]
no subject
Not too late. I've only been here a couple a' seconds. I'm Zoe, and this here's Gojou. Surely you got a name we can call you?

With a bright grin, she clasps her hands behind her back and rocks forward excitedly on her toes.] My name's Sayori! It's nice to meet you guys! Uh—
[She gives each of them a discerning look for a moment. At a quick glance, she didn't pay much attention, but they both look older than her. Not old old, but worth asking:] Should I say "Miss" and "Mister"? I don't want to be rude.
no subject
No, 'course not, I'm just Zoe. I ain't even thirty yet. You're gonna make me feel old if you call me that. [With a glance to Gojou, she adds,] 'Course, I don't speak for all of us.
no subject
[ Gojou offers her an encouraging grin. Really, this is one of the ways that he misses his original language - if he could use his preferred pronoun, she would know that he didn't want to be referred to in such a way. English just didn't have as many variables to fill in context. ]
But there's nothing wrong with being rude, you know. Sometimes it's the only way you'll get somewhere.
