Do you have any idea how long I have to keep this on my desk for 'observation'? I know the child isn't moving (I checked the security cameras!) but it's making me imagine things when it's in the corner of my eye.

Also can someone please explain what "pogge" (I think) means? I thought I had adjusted to Earth language well enough, but these videos might as well be speaking Snakurlan.

There are a lot of Earth languages. I don't think that's any of them.

I wish humans would stop shouting it in their videos then. It is disorienting every time!

American teenagers are very strange. I think it's a point of pride with them.

People from Earth think of themselves in terms of their regions on the planet and America is this mass of land, right?

Where I am from, space travel is commonplace, so the scales here are still a little confusing to me.

It's a little more complicated than that. I'm sure you've already learned that we like to make things very confusing.

When we say "Americans", we're usually referring to people from the United States of America. That's a specific region within this land mass, but it's not the whole thing.

I can teach you a bit about Earth geography and political structures, if you want. I do not think you'll need it for travel, but it might be helpful if you interact with people from other regions.

I would love that!! I have been trying to get an idea with books and television programs, but I do not think anything beats actually talking to somebody as you study!

My old home was very secluded, even within the world I am from, so it is a pleasure to learn about the kinds of societies that can exist out in the universe.

I agree. Everyone experiences the world differently, so nothing beats actually talking to people.

Did you have any contact with people from other worlds before you got here?</span?

[romelle]

Not really.

The "leader" of our colony is from another world, but aside from him and his subordinates, all I have are stories about other planets that were passed down through the generations.

Did you, before you arrived?

[musicdied]

Not personally.

Most of the contact my world has had with other planets has been hostile. It just shows that people are people, no matter where they are from.

Were the hostilities from the end of your people or theirs?

[musicdied]

Theirs. We fought back, but we haven't been the aggressors.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying we never would be. If you have been reading about the history of this world, I'm sure you've realized that we can be very warlike. But my world is only a little bit more technologically advanced than this one. We've only barely been off our planet.

I have looked into it a little. It all feels a little like small scale versions of the history and wars in the universe as I know it.

I suppose that means you're right. People will be people.

But I think there is still a difference between fighting and annihilating others, at least.
