Summary: A meeting, away from the prying eyes of ADI.

[Aelwyn mentioned offhand that they should discuss a plan of attack in person, away from the prying ever-present eyes of the ADI. Pretty early in the morning she tells a few people she thinks are tight with enough people to make a meeting work without having to go through the regular channels and one things leads to another and eventually, a meeting is organized.

At an Ice Cream place, which, to be fair, makes a really good milkshake. Aelwyn arrived here extra early, just to check that she managed to actually book the place and keep it away from prying eyes. Luckily, it seems that whatever money she has, it's good enough to afford one booking.

So she's there, at the table, a cup of ice cream in her hand.]

I think we've all got out suspicions, right? And I'd say a lot of us are sick of not knowing when we're being watched by those who claim to be protecting us.

Who wants to start? [Logically, she knows she should, but she's a dramatic bitch, so why should she.]

Mercy makes an excellent point! [Just to let Mercy know that she is supported. Aelwyn plays favourites.]

Regardless of what they actually are, the ADI's official job is hunting monsters and preventing the apocalypse. There's no reason for them not to want to at least discuss it.

[All right, well that's a little heartening. Mercy smiles at Aelwyn. She knew the other woman would understand.]

Aye. We could bring it to Reyes. Or... should we try to higher than that? I don't like jumping the chain of command, makes some folk uneasy, but sometimes you got to when something needs doing quick-like.

Reyes seems like the sensible option. I'd say they're considerably easier to trust than the leadership of this organization, considering they obviously have connections to this world that they value.

You don't think the leadership'd have connections to this world? [Mercy tilts her head at that.] Has anyone heard anything about the lady in charge? I know folks at the top can be... more suspicious than the people working under them. Tricking them and the like. Maybe that's what was happening with Mr. Down's circus? Most of the workers I met there was nice enough folk.

Oh, I'm sure they do. Just not enough to deter them from their goal. But, I suppose that's a rash assumption considering we haven't met the woman. She's been mysteriously absent the entire time we've been here, but I imagine she'll have to show her face is we force the issue.

[She drums her fingers on the table, chewing on her lip.] ...I'd say the circus was a mix of that and a cult-like sort of fraternity. When you drag someone along with you into the outsider category, it's easy to manipulate those feelings and direct that resentment outwardly. [Spoken like she's seen it personally.] At least that's what was happening with Pyre. And probably any other avatar there that we might not have spotted.

I seen that happen, aye. Good folk believing in a thing, and it getting twisted up into something terrible without them realizing it. Brother- [She cuts herself off.] Don't matter. You think we should try to help Mr. Pyre? Or is he too far gone into it?

Well, I did try. He wasn't very receptive and I think by now he's become something he can't come back from. But... I don't know, it might be worth a shot.

Maybe. If he really thinks that the Circus is only scaring folk and not hurting them, then... I reckon he doesn't want to hurt people, right? Not for real. That means there might still be some good in him. There are people with magic here. That don't mean they're bad.

[She offers a meaningful look and a small smile to Aelwyn.]

[Aelwyn responds with a smile in turn. She doesn't feel it. Just a weight in her stomach.

You're right, I imagine. Bonnie's been known to take in avatars, hasn't she? Might be worth asking her about it.

Could do. I keep meaning to get over and visit her place, maybe help do something to spruce it up. It's where Ren lives, and Brother Caduceus, too. Might be nice to make a thing of it, aye? Reckon Ms. Bonnie might have some information ADI don't with them turning folk away.

Beyond that, she probably has information that she's willing to share that the ADI might not.

She does want to help. And that's sincere for once.]
