[open network - video] backdated to beginning of August
Who: Delloso de la Rue
Username: rue
Warnings: mentions of murder/dissection, non-human
[After the last few difficult months here, is it any surprise that the first network message from Rue in some months now comes with none of the cheerful optimism and excitement of their last? Instead, the owlbear looks exhausted, tightly wound and deeply troubled.
Something they have recently learned has set them on edge.]
I am afraid I must be the bearer of unfortunate news.
Though our numbers have dwindled greatly these last few months, there are still those of us non-humans simply trying to live in this world. But I have recently been informed by Nia that there is a greater chance of danger coming for us. My worst fear about being seen by humans was the terror the sight of me would incite, but now I have learned that was only the beginning.
Pray, if you are weak of constitution, I beg of you to turn this off. I do not wish to distress anyone, only to inform.
To put it plainly, Nia said that if we were discovered by those government forces outside of ADI, that we would very likely be killed and dissected. Such news has weighed heavily on my heart, I can not think how any of us are meant to reaction to such horror.

Come in, come in! Oh, it's so lovely to see you, Winter. You look well.
no subject
I look the same as always. You're smiling pretty big, though.
[That can't just be him. Other people are coming to their side on the network post, he saw on his way over. They have people. That's important. Hopefully this thing he has for them helps, too.]
no subject
They will not forget again.]
Seeing you always makes me smile. Please, would you like some tea? Coffee? I also have some iced tea if that better suits your mood.
no subject
[Winter doesn't get the point of iced tea. Just drink juice or water if you want something cold.
As small talk is not his forte, and he'd like to move past the embarrassing compliments as soon as possible, he launches pretty quickly right into his reason for coming:]
So me and Belova and Steve and-- a few of us, actually. We've got trackers. It's helped me find Cortana before when she was in trouble. I thought, maybe, if you wanted one too. There's a burner phone that comes with it, so you can track us, too.
no subject
But Rue's gaze doesn't leave his as they listen to this offer, absolutely unaware of the fact they're being tracked twice over by two others. The life of an owlbear everyone wants to protect.]
That is such a kind offer, Winter. If you think that I would benefit from such a thing, I would be happy to take it. Does it work the other way? If I need to find any of you?
no subject
[And hey, at least Winter only does it with people's permission now. He's considered before just sticking trackers to people without their knowledge, but frankly, that's inefficient because it could be found, or only work on some of their clothes, or they don't wear clothes....
So: with permission and full knowledge.]
Yes, that's what the extra phone is for. It has the trackers for all of us on it, as well as yours. I will show you how to work it.
no subject
I am rather technologically illiterate. Please, if you can show me how it works, I will be able to use it.
no subject
[He pulls both the tracker and the spare phone out of his jacket pocket to show them.]
You keep the tracker in your pocket, or I guess you could put it on a chain as a necklace or something, but it's not very pretty.
[It's also not very big, so it could pass for a weird pendant.]
no subject
Thank you, Winter. This does bring me some relief. That no matter what happens, we shall at least be able to track one another down.
no subject
[And he'll run them through how to work the phone and the single app on the home screen, the tracker. It's basically just a google maps type thing with moving dots for each tracker. Rue can highlight a name on the list to track each person. label each tracker dot on the map whatever they'd like, though it defaults with their first and last names. Currently it's Winter, Yelena, Steve, Cortana, and Kate. Rue's dot shows up, too. (Steve's dot will update to "Steven" after his run-in with the fae that steals his name...)]
It should automatically add a new dot if anyone else gets a tracker. Gonna give one to Martin, too, I think.
no subject
[It is fascinating equipment, how little the tracker is and how much it does, but Rue follows along with instructions, committing them to memory.]
Thank you, Winter. I feel much more secure, that no one shall be left behind.
no subject
[Winter gives them a light pat on the elbow.]
If any of your people want one, too, I can always get more to add to the app.
