Congratulations, you've made it to the Good Harbor Beach September barbecue! With the weather cooling, but still pleasant enough, it's a pleasure to have a hangout involving ADI's residents and those who live at Bonnie's. There are still so many people who don't know one another, and many to strengthen bonds with, so the hours your dearest Wanda and Ren spend cooking and flipping and seasoning are nothing but rewarding! Seeing people enjoying themselves is great and it's motivating for them to keep doing these encounters every now and then.

On the menu, we have:
- Burgers;
- Steaks with jacked potato sides;
- Ribs;
- Zucchini-and-Pecorino fritters;
- Several different salads, including ovcharska;
- Aubergine kebabs with charred onion salsa;
- Salmon yakitori;
- Takoyaki;
- Cupcakes
- Apples and honey;
- Cherry dumplings;
- Sarmale filled with rice;
- Bundevara (pumpkin pie);


For drinks, there's a selection of alcohol, as well as coffee, water, tea, and a variety of sodas. Take in the nice view, jump on the ocean, sink your toes in the sand and enjoy yourselves. There aren't any usable tables, but there are several blankets on the floor for your perusal.

ɪɪ. ᴛɪᴍᴇ ᴛᴏ ᴘᴀʀᴛʏ

With bellies full, now it's when the real fun begins. There are a few decks of cards being passed around, as well as one of their single tables now organized to a beer-pong competition. Individually, games such as Never Have I Ever, as well as Truth or Dare can be seen, and those who wish to use their skills for entertaining are more than welcome to do so.

A little bonding here, a little drunken chatting there, this is your time to shine!

ɪɪɪ. ᴀ ʙᴏɴꜰɪʀᴇ

With those who have a curfew to worry about in mind, a bonfire is lit, and a few tents are set around the beach (may have to be shared). If anyone's got a nice story, now it's the time to share it, or perhaps if anyone can play an instrument, it's about time to break it out of its case. The night will be lively until the early hours of the morning, and of course, mindful of those who couldn't stay up this late.

The next morning, everyone will be properly thanked for their attendance and tupperwares will be distributed with leftovers for those who'd like to take some food home, the beach will be cleaned impeccably and everyone will go their own way, hopefully with smiles and a new sense of unity and connection from the amazing night they've just experienced.

(Not awar criminal, but a criminal nonetheless, Ren was just passing by when he hears the last thing Aelwyn has said and he pauses for a second, like he's just heard something shocking, the sound of a record scratching being appropriate.

Boy, Ren and cops don't get along, fuck the police, etc. He's standing there for a second... Before he starts walking again...)

[ he gives his a lazy raise up in return, only regretting he doesn't have any seltzer left.

ELECTROCHEMISTRY - What you should regret is a lack of alcohol.
REACTION SPEED - Wait. Who was that watching you from the corner of your eye?

with that he turns his head past his shoulder, only seeing some kid walking away. he looks back at her. ]

Huh. [She looks at him walking away. She cups her hands over her mouth and calls out.] Ren!

[And then she'll pat the spot next to her. Despite appearances she can actually detect the animosity, she just wants to get to the bottom of it. There's only one reason why a mean girl used to manipulating the ins and outs of social hierarchies plays Never Have I Ever after all.]

(Ah, crap. Listen, back home, he was either too ScArY to be engaged with when he eavesdropped, or outright ignored, unseen. So, he's mid-step when he hears the familiar voice.

Boy, he's very uncomfortable, but Aelwyn has nothing to do with it. Ren's not turning his back on her. So instead, he takes a deep breath, turns around, and sets a hand on her shoulder before crouching to her level.)

Did you need anything?

What's up? Having fun? I saw you stop.

[She is the very picture of innocence.]

[ ah so it was a kid. must be a friend of hers. harry keeps quiet, not wanting to get between them right now.

EMPATHY [Challenging: Success] - What's this strange vibe you're picking up from him? It's like he wants nothing to do with you.
AUTHORITY [Medium: Success] - Of course he doesn't. The *youths* rarely ever do. ]

[forethinking]

(Strange vibe checks out. Ren's gaze is so piercing that even the frames that soften his features aren't rising up to the challenge.

But not to her. To her, he simply shakes his head a few times.)

Just checking if your glass was full.

(Most likely, he's promised to not allow it to run empty.)

[She drinks up the last of her cup. Okay, okay, if he doesn't wanna say it, that's fine.]

I do kind of want a refill. Do we still have pinea col – the pineapple drink?

[ LOGIC [Medium: Success] - Given how close he was, there's a chance he overheard the last things the two of you said. Calling her a 'war criminal', and her calling you a 'cop'. And it's clear which of the two he has disdain for.
VOLITION [Easy: Success] - It is what it is. Most people hate cops. You could do everything right and they would still hate you on principle. Don't let it get to you. ]

I can refill you. [ he offers with an easygoing smile her way, standing up and reaching to take the cup out of her grasp. ] I want to get more seltzer anyway. I'll be right back.

[ and he goes off for now, deciding he'll take it slow on purpose. ]

(Assessment incorrect. Ren won't hold it against him forever, but his trauma is still very much fresh, visible upon his skin with the marks of botched needles from his interrogation times.

He'll get to know the man and make his own judgement based on that, but thus far, he hasn't met a single cop that hasn't fuck him over. Perhaps he can be forgiven for being on the defensive.

Once he's out of earshot, Ren sighs a little.)

Harrier Du Bois. [He'd actually never told her his name, but she's familiar with everyone's basic information. She's in the research department.]

Amnesiac police officer. Not a fan of them, I take it?

Haven't met a good one.

(He stores the face, the name. It feels important, and Ren's gaze falls back to the man in the distance to make sure the conversation is safe from prying.)

Well, if you want my opinion, he didn't seem too bad. Had about as much faith in the system as you, honestly.

[She shrugs, then looks back to where the detective's walked over to.] I think he was looking for an excuse to walk away. He better come back with my drink, though... we worked hard on those...

(There's a sigh of tension in Ren before he pats her back gently before taking his hands to himself.)

I think he might. I imagine he gave us space for a while, only.

[She shrugs.] I confessed to some of my crimes during the game and he didn't attempt to shoot me dead.

It's not like they have any authority to abuse here.

(That just means he's not stupid.)

True, true. [She doesn't think she has any right to judge, but she has been mistreated by government authority before so she gets it.]

You're really not a fan, huh? [Normally people would react more to war criminal than cop but Aelwyn's not offended. Mostly.]

(What right does he have to be pissy at a war criminal? Isn't he, technically, a terrorist? Oh, well.)

Fair enough. I don't like them much either.

[Sklonda Gukgak was kind of a milf, however, so she'll make an exception for her. But the Military Police at Fallinel apparently oversaw her torture, so that's not great. Maybe she'd match him for anger if she actually remembered the events involved.]

Isn't your boyfriend a detective or something, though?

[ and comes back harry from his extensive trip to the drinks station. he holds out the refilled up to the woman as he looks between the two with his eyes. ]

Wow he must be young. Do they just let trainees rank up where you're from that fast?

[ kids can enter the police academy in revachol as young as fifteen, but they are definitely no teenage detectives on the force! (although maybe there should be? hmmm...) ]

I don't have a boyfriend.

(And he looks much more surprised than embarrassed. Does he have a boyfriend? Nobody let him know. Especially Akechi, that one hasn't told him shit.

And quite honestly, he doesn't fucking know. Akechi's whole detective thing is a complicated thing on its own.)

[Aelwyn takes the drink with a nod and a smile of thanks before turning to Ren with a baffled expression.] ...You mean you and the pretty boy you keep visiting aren't involved? The one who's apartment you keep visiting and staying the night at?
