Who: John Sheppard and you!
Username: Pegasus
Warnings: (cw: emetophobia, arachnophobia, bugs, bees, body horror from the prompt A New Spin from the TDM, implied hallucination, gaslighting)
[The video is of John hastily setting up the screen so that it’s full-body. He’s in one of the ADI offices, which means that his crab arm is clearly visible. But what’s also visible, to some, is that he’s being slowly covered in multi-colored candy coating. The shiny, sugary shell has worked its way up from his normal arm, and has spread through most of his face and mouth and one of his eyes. His movements are slow, stiff. It’s progressed pretty far at this point, and he looks like an escapee from Willy Wonka’s. His voice might sound a little weird because it’s covering his mouth, or it could just be nothing at all and John is just so convinced he’s even making his voice sound weird.]
Word of warning, don’t eat the bug candy in the canteen. Also, can you see this?
[OOC: Feel free to have your character see or not see the effects!]

Huh. Eda and I have eaten things from that place. Neither of us are candy-coated..... yet.
[There's a pause.]
Maybe I should go check on her. Do... you need help?
no subject
[Please stay safe, Raine and Eda.]
Probably should, just in case.
I-I don’t know, actually. Like, it’s hard to move, and here’s hoping it’s just temporary. I’ve eaten cursed food here before—not on purpose, okay—and it usually fades out.
It just…sucks until then.
no subject
I'd need to ask Eda about the meal.. Worms...
[They sigh.]
Are you. Sure you don't need help?
no subject
[There’s a beat, and he sounds a little more lost.]
Honestly I don’t know what anyone could do for me right now. I mean, I’d like some help, but…
I just hope this doesn’t get worse?
no subject
I could do something else, but it might not work. And I.. would hate to use magic on somebody who doesn't want it.
[Namely, they can transmute things with their magic, but with how things are now? Things are weird. They scratch their chin, and try to think of something else.]
I.. I'm not sure. Sorry.

He will claw your shoes when you least expect it.]

For now he'll just heave a sigh but drop whatever he was doing anyway to grab his emergency bag.]
Where are you? Can you breathe all right? Any other symptoms than the surface spread?
You know, just for the record? Calling medical should be a priority before the PSA, not that I don't appreciate it.
no subject
Office near the canteen, and yeah, I can breathe okay. It seems to be on the surface only.
I didn't call for help cause I don't think there's much you can possibly do, honestly! Unless you know how to combat magic?
no subject
[Is that childish? Absolutely. But he's also feeling insulted by that assessment, especially with all the hours he sinks into his attempts, feeble as they may be.]
Stay there, don't touch anything and don't touch anyone. I'm on my way.

Can you wipe or pull it off?
no subject
No, it's on there pretty good. It's either covering the skin or it is the skin.
no subject
Why did you eat it?
no subject
[But he was curious. And possessing cat instincts. Therefore bugs seemed acceptable.]

Pray refrain from water-based solutions to Lt. Colonel Sheppard. I doubt his current composition would react kindly to it.
[ Yes, his features DO look intrigued despite his warning. And also yes, he doesn't look like he's making a quip at the man's expense. There is some concern that someone might try to spray John down with water.
He's seen more foolish actions in his long life. ]
That is quite the fascinating effect. Do you find your mind still clear? How difficult is it to speak? How fast is it advancing?
[ A pause. ]
I'm inclined to agree you should have reported to the doctors first, though I appreciate the warning.
no subject
[Bruh he did not even consider the possibility like thanks for the new fear]
I--yeah, my mind is fine, I--it's a little difficult to speak, honestly...and it's pretty slow, but nothing is stopping it?
I don't think a doctor can do anything, really...
no subject
fear filledreal. But seriously. Don't spray water on John right now guys! Elidibus tilts his head to the side as if thinking on the matter in more depth. ]It is certainly a possibility. But my ability to tell you for certain is limited.
[ Mostly because he's not there. And also because it'd be a waste of carefully farmed resources when there's a perfectly good doctor, John, who probably has a biopsy punch ready. ]
Fortunately you are indoors and the likelihood of being exposed to sugar dissolving fluids is minimal.
[ John will get a brief, patient look. You know. The kind that therapists give when their patients are possibly trying to spell out their fears/concerns/reluctance to take a step toward a helpful resource. ]
Perhaps the modern medicine of this star would not be capable of reversing the symptoms, but would they not at least be capable of telling you of the mundane risks you face while affected?
no subject
I mean, I guess that's...good, as long as I stay away from water?
[Oh man, now he's second-guessing everything, there's so many more awful possibilities he didn't even think of before...]
Minimal. That's great. Great.
[Guess he's gonna have to get with Carter after all.]
I-yeah, you're right.
[Grumble, mumble.]

[Mercy cannot, in fact, see anything.]
no subject
[He gestures to his face, indicating the candy covering.]
Do you see this?
no subject
[She's peering at him intently, trying to figure out what he's talking about. What other people are talking about.]
Maybe you're seeing funny stuff?
no subject
There's this candy coating that's growing all over me. But some people in the canteen couldn't see it, so that's why I was wondering. Thing is I can still feel it, and other people can see it, too.
