[open log - it's a wedding!]

Who: Rue, Hob, and everyone else! Even if you don’t know the couple personally, Rue will not be throwing anyone out.
When: Evening of April 9th
Where: On ADI grounds
Summary: A fey wedding! Come take a break from all of the usual drama to dance, drink, and be merry!

[After months of extensive planning, the day is finally here. To all those personally invited or who just so happen to stumble upon the lovely outdoor tent on ADI property, they’ll all be welcomed as anticipated guests to join in the celebration.

For how lavishly Rue had lived prior to this realm, the wedding is elegant in its pure simplicity, all creams and ivories splashed with the bright color of wildflowers, golden lights twinkling in every corner of the spacious tent. The decor is all fresh flowers and gentle lights, nothing over-the-top or excessive, just a pretty, aromatic backdrop for the ceremony taking place.]

[Is it any surprise that fey weddings are a touch more eclectic in their traditions than most humans might expect?

Upon arrival, all guests are invited to pick up a smooth stone, small enough to fit easily into even the smallest of palms. The game then becomes being sneaky enough to slip that stone into someone else’s pocket without being caught. Fey tradition dictates that if you manage it without suspicion, that person shall be blessed with good luck for the rest of the year. But get caught and it backfires only on the gifter themself, who is then cursed with bad luck for the next ten years.

(It’s only a silly fey game, of course, take the gift of good and bad luck with a grain of salt. ..Though you never quite know for certain in a place like this, do you?)

After the ceremony, in an imitation of one of the more bloody and violent goblin customs, bird-shaped confetti is rained down on the guests, tiny, edible doves to either politely brush out of your hair or to catch and eat. Collect more than anyone else and you just may be named Destroyer of Doves for the rest of the evening, a title that comes with a small crown and sash. (Goblin traditions are something else.)]

[Reception]

[The ceremony itself is brief, fey promises are already binding, no other long-winded declaration of vows or exchange of gifts are needed, the words Rue and Hob speak are weighty enough.

But the true celebration follows immediately after, an after party that lasts long through the night, with music, drinks, and nonstop dancing. Feel free to drag a friend onto the dance floor or stand awkwardly on the sidelines, waiting to be bullied into dancing the macarena. You can try to use the tender environment to strike up a conversation with your crush or maybe just challenge your rival to see who can Cha Cha Slide best.

Or, if you’re truly opposed to dancing, you could grab one of the delicately painted eggs in a basket by the entrance. They weigh next to nothing, and the instructions are simple: throw it at someone. Ideally a someone that you’re fond of, but it doesn’t have to be. Regardless of whether the egg is chucked out of affection or malice, it will break with a puff of perfume and a spray of colorful confetti.

When you leave, don’t forget to grab your gift bag! Rue’s prepared small bags for anyone who attends, invited or otherwise, filled with all of your wedding gift bag essentials! Included is a mini bottle of champagne, a decorative baggie of jordan almonds, and a small paperweight with a spray of the same wildflowers preserved within it.]

Raine smiled contently. They were quiet, just taking in the sound of Eda's heart, the music, the way everything smelled and looked and felt. It was a rare moment of peace, and though they were still definitely not sober, the buzz of the alcohol had died down a small amount.

"If we ever go home, and I remember everything..."

They perch their temple on her shoulder.

"I want to find a way for us to be together like this again. And work together, without all of our mess getting in the way of things. We needed you, and I was stubborn..."

They trailed off, and decided to steer away from the negative.

"Maybe.. we can even live together. Like now."

Moving in with Eda back on the Boiling Isles did sound quite appealing.

Eda smiled softly as Raine rested their head against her again, pulling them a little closer. Her expression began to falter when they talked about being stubborn, but when they trailed off she was just as glad to let them move on.

She made a soft surprised sound at their next comment, before doing her best to cover for it. She'd been hoping they'd want to, and almost expecting it given how well things were going, but it was nice to hear it.

"Wait, were you thinking we'd stop living together?" Eda teased, feigning shock just to imply that she had already been hoping they'd stay.

They'd spent enough time apart, she thought. Yes, if they got home and things were alright, they'd probably have a chance to take things slower if they wanted... but at the same time, she'd been missing them for years. She was done with sleeping alone, if she had a choice in the matter.

Raine jumped at Eda's shocked tone. They relaxed, but they feel a little embarrassed nonetheless.

"I mean- I don't know, I wasn't..." Their green eyes flash up at Eda for only a moment. "I just wasn't sure! Everything's so uncertain at home.."

They idly fidgeted with the fabric of Eda's coat for a moment, but decided rather than dwelling on the uncertainty of home, they wanted to focus on telling Eda about what they didn't want to give up. They placed their hand on her waist, though their eyes still wander- mostly on Eda.

"But I mean, I'd like to.. especially if it means we get to sleep together again and.. do- uh-"

They possibly can't blush any more than they already are. They lower their voice, though they don't really need to with the loud music.

"-what we did the other night. B-because. I think you looked very pretty flustered. I also think you looked very pretty when I-"

Raine stopped themself. Maybe that wasn't appropriate to say at a wedding.

Eda let out a fond chuckle as they stammered, before the comment about how uncertain things were. That dampened her mood a little, and she glanced away as they fidgeted with her coat.

She was just as glad when they changed the subject—well, in some ways. All at once they weren't the only one blushing as much as possible, and her ears flattened back a little as she glanced at the nearby guests.

"Raine! There's... people," she pointed out, thoroughly flustered. People who probably couldn't hear their conversation over the music, but still. As much as she enjoyed their flirting, she really wasn't sure if this was the time or place.

"But thanks," she added a little more quietly, leaning in to give them another kiss on the cheek.

Being called pretty in harpy mode got to her on the night in question, and it still filled her with soft, fluttery feelings now. She knew it was a little silly how much she enjoyed it, but she wasn't about to complain.

Raine had suddenly become much more self aware of being in front of a bunch of people. They clapped a hand over their mouth, and if Eda thought Raine couldn't get any more red than they already were, she was in for a surprise.

"Sorry! Sorry... I got a little carried away..."

They glanced around at the others, but as Eda relaxed they did as well. It's not like what they'd said could be heard by anyone except their intended audience.

"I wouldn't say it if it wasn't true." Raine added sheepishly as Eda kisses their cheek.

The excitement of dancing with Eda died down as the song did, and eventually they relent to the urge to their loss of energy.

"Can.. we sit down? Maybe someplace more quiet?"

Eda couldn't hide the little smile when they insisted it was true, silly or not. Sooner or later she would have to get used to Raine complimenting her again, but the novelty hadn't worn off yet and to be honest she was enjoying the fact it hadn't.

But as much a she was enjoying the attention, she wasn't disappointed when the song ended. It was fun, but... maybe not the best activity for the two of them, all things considered.

"Sounds good by me," she said, before pulling away but keeping their hand in hers as she looked around.

"There's not too many people that way," she noticed, nodding towards some seating furthest from the dance floor.

"Or we could catch some fresh air." While she wasn't about to leave the event early, stepping out of the tent was probably the quietest option, and she wouldn't mind a breather.

Raine was mildly disappointed when Eda pulled away, but kept their hands in hers. They weren't too upset about not dancing anymore- it wasn't their favourite thing in the world come to remember, and Eda seemed to be having an unpleasant time as well.

Raine surveyed their options- but being asked to choose between more people, and outside, Raine already had their answer.

"I wouldn't mind a moment away from everything. We've been in here for a while." They gave Eda a tired smile, and pulled her towards the outside.

"Plus, it would be nice to get away from people for a moment."

Eda laughed when Raine pointed out how they wanted to get away from people. It didn't surprise her, and Raine being, well, very much themself made her smile.

"Honestly? I'm impressed you've lasted this long," she teased, as she followed them out of the tent.

"But... I could use a break, too," she admitted. As much as she liked everyone, she wasn't that much better with crowds or parties than Raine was.

"Me too," They chuckled. "The alcohol helped a little, but.."

Raine trailed off as the scenery changed. They found a spot outside of the tent- a quaint area with a few small trees and a planter that the two of them could sit if they'd like, and have a bit more privacy away from the noise. Once they were satisfied with their spot of choice, they added:

"It also helped that you're around."

Raine let go of Eda's hand and sat down, their eyes half lidded, ears and cheeks still flush from the awkward dancing and champagne.

"You make social events a little more.. Tolerable."

Eda just looked at Raine for a moment, and thought about how cute they were at this particular moment. Perhaps unfortunately, she was thinking a lot more about that than about what she was saying.

"Yeah, I dunno what you'd do without me." She realised after saying it that that might not have been the best choice of words. But calling attention to that fact seemed like it would just make it worse, so she simply forged ahead, sitting down by them and leaning her shoulder against theirs.

"But y'know, so do you. Always have."

Raine couldn't help but giggle at Eda's flirting.

"Very bold words from the Witch who prefers using me as a pillow, or else she can't sleep as good."

Raine watched Eda as she sat down, and leaned their head against her shoulder. They didn't say anything else, initially, but their eyes never left her. Their mind swam between acknowledging the sweet reply that they made things easier for her as well, the party, and how the light hit her face in a way that made them want to ramp up the amount of affection they were giving her.

Raine's body shifted on the planter to face Eda more, and they even kick their legs up underneath themself.

"I think.. we should kiss about that. A lot."

Raine wasn't entirely not self aware quite yet though, and they couldn't help but awkwardly glance away as they added:

"If you want."

Eda felt better as she earned that giggle, and to be honest it helped when they teased her, too. Not that that kept her from rolling her eyes.

She raised an eyebrow at the boldness of their next comment, and then had to stifle a laugh at their tacked on addition, even if it was sweet of them to want to make sure.

"I think," she began, leaning close to their ear almost conspiratorially, "you read my mind."

She kissed them on the cheek, then on the lips, turning further to face them and bracing a hand on the planter on the other side of them from them as she leaned in. She seemed to be taking 'a lot' to heart, as she gave them another kiss, and another.

"...But I'm pretty sure you're the one who sleeps better when you use me for a heavy blanket."

Raine let themself be swept up into the moment, finding the feeling how the hair on the back of their neck prickled when Eda whispered in their ear to be exhilarating. They grabbed at Eda's shirt, enough to keep her close while she gave them kiss after kiss.

"Mmmh," Raine tilted their head to the side when they broke away from the kisses. "I don't know what you're talking about. You would be a sleepy mess without me."

Their hands cup Eda's face, and pulled her into more kisses.

"Oh yeah?" Eda asked, breaking away again after a bit. Mostly because leaning over them was ceasing to be quite comfortable.

She sat back and idly chewed at her lip with her gold fang for a moment before deciding what to do about that. Without any particular warning, she pulled them up into her lap, and gave them another kiss the moment they were settled there.

"I can always stop sleeping on you, if you'd rather..." She didn't manage to sound especially serious about this. It would probably take a lot to actually get her to break that particular habit.

Raine made a surprised noise as they were pulled into Eda's lap, and wrapped their arms around her neck to balance themself. They're delighted to be held by Eda, however, and meet the kiss halfway.

"I never said anything about that," Raine playfully bit back. "Plus you'd get all sad about it. I'd feel too bad."

They played with her long ear tuft for a moment, before they lean a little closer and let their hand rest back on her shoulder.

"And I'd hate to do that."

They don't bother letting her say anything back, in favour of giving her their suggested "a lot" of kisses.
