Season Turning Festival

season turning festival
winter turns to spring The Oval Playground, just south of the Old Bridge Street Burying Ground had seemed the perfect place to set up for the Winter to Spring Turning Festival that this get-together has become. It's a grander affair than Mercy had first envisioned, but she's glad for the shift given Rue's help. The air is brisk, the day clear, and colorful tents have been erected on the open green up against the northern edge of the park… not terribly far from the graveyard, if one were to hop a fence. It's no grand city festival, but there are more than a few activities and foodstuffs to catch the eye of those who might deign to drop in for the fun.

Everyone who does stop by will be immediately directed to a table where winter-themed flower crowns can be picked up. Each one is unique and there seem to be enough crowns for any who might want them.

A photo area has been set up with a tasteful background and a variety of Seasonal Props (and just cute or interesting things Mercy and Rue have come across) one may wear or hold: cornucopias, bouquets of flowers, heart pillows, a skull with antlers, and all other manner of odds and ends that seem seasonal to winter or the coming spring. Some of them are a bit more macabre than others.

There is food and drink aplenty to be found within the tents. Nothing excessively grand (or too alcoholic), but set out in a very pleasing array with a chocolate fountain at the heart of the display. A variety of unique and wintry centerpieces are dotted about to add some additional flair.

There are also sign-ups for a Blanket-wrapped Race and Campball with promised prizes for the winners. These come along with another sign-up for a Fashion Show to be judged by Rue and Mercy at the end of the afternoon's festivities. Wear your seasonal best to the festival or step into the Fashion Tent where you'll find an offering of clothes and accessories to help pull your winning design together!
sampling the season
celebration in style Introduction
Mercy isn't usually nervous about giving speeches. She's spoken to all kinds of people for her work both as an undertaker and as a healer… even as a rebel, after a fashion. But this is particularly important, sharing something with others that's part of her homeland, something that's not technically her right to do. She adjusts the flower crown atop her head, steps up onto a makeshift little platform, and raises her hands for attention.

"Thank you, kindly, friends, for coming out. Me'n- The Honorable Rue and I have been working to put together a little shindig we thought folk might enjoy, something to liven the spirits while we're coming out of this long stretch of dark and cold. Where I'm from, Evergreen Abbey, we got a tradition of celebrating the changing of the seasons. Spring to summer, summer to fall, fall to winter, and winter again into spring. The world is cycles. A deep breath in and another out as the earth, hisself, breathes.

"With a season turning comes a naming. We honor the time we've spent with the past and present even while we look to the future. It's the right of the Abbot or Abbess of Evergreen to name the season, but seeing as we ain't got one of them on hand…" She manages a crooked grin. "I name this the Winter of Kindled Flames. Whether that's warmth in fire or in friendships, both'll see us through to what's ahead." She looks to Rue and steps aside in case the owlbear would like to say their own words.

Of course crowned in their own set of vibrant flowers, Rue’s glamoured countenance beams down at Mercy before they turn their charming smile on the crowd. They wave an arm out - and for any familiar with Rue’s true form, it would be easy enough to imagine the grand flourish their feathery wing would make - directing the attention to them. “My friends, we only ask that you open yourselves up to the true beauty of the changing seasons. It must be said, that although the aim of this festival is to bring some lighthearted reprieve into our lives, it would not behoove of us to simply ignore the fear we have all been faced with as well. But as a wise woman once spoke -” And though it’s quite subtle, Mercy would feel a gentle, feathery paw at her elbow. “‘Fear falls when it's faced with bonds it can not break.’ So please, we welcome you to enjoy the grand festivities planned, while you engage with friends, both old and new.”

I. Flower Crowns and Photographs
A table is set up and regularly replenished with a variety of unique flower crowns that seem to have been handmade. Each is different, featuring little touches of interest here and there, whether in an unusual color combination or arrangement. There are even some supplies in a nearby box and some basic instructions laid out should one want to fashion their own flower crown or add to an existing one. A small sign accompanies the table of crowns, written in Mercy's neat and very old-fashioned looking handwriting:

We weave the world together
And place each blossom bright
To find ourselves the vigor
To carry on our fight
And with each crown we place
Our hearts alight with yearning
We name ourselves the vessels
For joy and season's turning

- Mercy Summermist, Hero of Evergreen Abbey

Not far beyond the flower crown station is a photo point. This place seems to have been set up specifically to provide an excellent opportunity for any person (or persons) to pose for a picture. There are rich cloths draped artfully over some branches of a tree and little lanterns and faerie lights that twinkle in the shade. There are a few logs and stumps that have been rolled over to provide seating or something to stand on for those who might wish to be a bit taller than usual. Off to one side of the photo area, there is a cardboard box filled with all manner of eclectic items. Some of them are sensible and seasonal. Others are just a bit odd. You might be surprised what you find in that box to join you in your photo. The stranger things undoubtedly came from a certain gravedigger, but it's best not to ask where she might have acquired them.

II. Food, Mingling, and a Grave Path
Tables have been set up in some of the tents and out on the green of the park that sport an assortment of foods and beverages. They're mostly the standard platters of fruits, cheeses, veggies, and meats one might be able to purchase at the local grocery store, but they've been arranged on nicer plates. There's one table set up as the central and most prominent display. In the center is a chocolate fountain and assorted dipping items. There are also whimsical candies here from the newest shop in Gloucester that's making an invertebrate splash!

In addition to the tables for food, there are little seating areas that are a combination of chairs and whatever else could be found at Bonnie's and on short notice to serve as seating. These more… eclectic sitting locations are covered by comfy-looking blankets and set up around small fire pits where they're available. Enjoy a plate filled with food or a big cup of hot chocolate or coffee from a nearby drinks station.

For those who are less keen on mingling with others or who just need a moment to themselves, there is a gate leading out of the park to the north and directly into the copse of trees that surround the Old Bridge Street Burying Ground. The graves here date back to the 1700s and some of them look… strangely fresh considering their headstones. Has something been digging here? Have zombies been clawing their way from the earth, itself? Who can really say? There does seem to be a pattern to the graves with turned earth. They appear to be the grandest and most well-preserved headstones in the yard. What curious times we live in!

III. Campball Lessons
"Campball's the easiest thing you ever played," Mercy tells those assembled on the pitch. She has a soccer ball in hand as the closest equivalent to a campball that she could find. "No touching the ball with your hands." She drops the ball down and dribbles it briefly between her feet. "But anything else goes so long as you ain't drawing blood or breaking bones." Her enthusiastic grin might be just a bit too much for the faint of heart. "We got goals set up on either end of the pitch. You can take turns kicking and guarding to start, then move on to running the pitch with the ball. Got some cones set up for you there. Practicing stealing the ball from each other'll be next. Don't be afraid to get a little rough. Or getting sneaky. I seen one team win a match using tricks to keep the other team guessing where the ball actually was."

"The first team to score 5 points is the winner, and we'll take breaks every 20 minutes. We'll try to make the teams even on numbers, and I'll be watching off to the side while you do drills so's we can even the skill out, too."

Those assembled will be unleashed upon the practice pitch in pairs to test their mettle. Occasional encouraging words will be thrown out over the course of the 30-minute practice before everyone is dismissed for refreshments and preparation for the battle game to come. Perhaps you've been lured by the game itself or some curiosity. Perhaps you've been lured by the promise of a free, tailored outfit for each member of the winning team. Either way, there's practice to get to and a campball championship title to be won!

((OOC: Sign-ups for the campball teams are below. Terri will RNG the winning team on March 1st.))

IV. Blanket-wrapped Race Strategizing
The Blanket-wrapped Race is a curious sort of affair. People are asked to pair up in teams of two, one to wrap their partner in the blanket and the other hop, waddle, or roll their way to victory while cocooned. The blankets provided come in a range of sizes to accommodate competitors of different builds, but they're all thick and stiff. There are colorful bungee cords available, as well, a nod to these modern times. Mercy would usually use standard rope, but she doesn't want to make anyone suffer having to figure out knots on the fly.

Instructions are provided that the one being wrapped must have the blanket bungeed to them at the ankles, waist, and shoulders, at a minimum. They'll be checked before they're let off the starting line. Once on the move, the pitch isn't the longest in the world, but to someone wrapped in a blanket, it might seem quite the distance… especially considering the hazards laid out before them. There are down tree branches, patches of ball bearings, and well-hidden trip-wires.

Attentive partners to the blanket-wrapped will run ahead of them to warn of hazards or maybe even move them into the way of competitors who might be behind or ahead of their racing companion. Work with your companion to test different wraps and strategize for your run down the track before the starting bell.

((OOC: Sign-ups for the Blanket-wrapped Race are below. Terri will RNG the winning pair on March 1st.))

V. Fashion Show Prep
“Now remember,” Rue is thrilled to remind those eager to participate in the festival’s impromptu fashion show. “Half of a fashionable presentation is simply being confident. Whatever you end up wearing, as long as you feel most glamorous, you’re certain to leave the judges panel in absolute awe. But having said that, sticking to the seasonal theme will certainly net you a few bonus points in the final tally.”

Those wanting to participate are welcome to use from their own collection or to peruse the clothing racks provided in the changing tents. There’s a little something for everyone in every shape and size, Rue has made certain of that, so no non-humans should be feeling left out if they want their chance to strut down the improvised runway.

The esteemed panel - Mercy Graves, Delloso de la Rue, and Neal Caffery - will be sitting on as the judges this afternoon, each scoring every participant separately only for Rue to round up all of the points at the end of the festivities. Come and show off your own special brand of fashion, dance your way down the catwalk, or maybe come give a friend a hand in the hopes they’ll walk away with the top prize of the evening.

((OOC: Sign-ups for the Fashion Show are below. Mey will RNG the winning pair on March 1st.))

Far be it for Elidibus not to appreciate the efforts of one who takes their duty so seriously as to exude a presence of it. He recognizes the glamoured woman from the speech at the beginning of the event. Does he see beneath the illusion? Well that's going to depend on a lot of things, none of which Elidibus has any intention of giving away. Especially since some of those things are ones he shouldn't be doing.

So he smiles the smile of someone who is reserved but sees nothing wrong or different than what seems to be before him and nods his head graciously. He also has to look up. While definitely an adult, he is certainly on the short side for a man.

"Thank you, yes." The path Rue was taking to where she had been heading briefly earns a moment's attention. "Yet this is not a matter which should keep you from your duties. Still if you would speak with me, we can continue on course to your destination if you wish."
ruevealing: (i was made into a beast)

[personal profile] ruevealing 2023-02-26 08:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Their smile softens, just a touch more warmth blossoming at their sharp features.

"Please, it's not a problem at all. I was only making the rounds, so to speak. I only hope to keep Lady Graves from having to deal with any of the clean up during the festivities. For all that she has done to put this event together, I simply wish for her to be able to focus on enjoying herself."

Rue's hands clasp delicately at their front, head tipping just slightly to the side, smiling at the man.

"Please, what can I help you with, my friend? I don't believe we've been introduced. My name is Delloso de la Rue, but please, I insist you call me Rue. All of my friends do."

[personal profile] wewillwewill 2023-02-26 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Elidibus nods, accepting their words at face value. How to answer their question about his name though? Public is public when it comes down to it and Elidibus has no intention of not abiding by some of the unspoken rules. At least not to call himself by the name he would prefer.

"Themis Galvus. You may call me Themis, should you desire." Though after his introduction, he does seem to pause and consider the hidden proposal. In the end, if it's a name that will put them at ease, then he has no issue using it.

"As you wish." That this is a tacit acceptance of new friendship may still be up for debate. Momentarily his eyes scan the crowds. While Elidibus keeps his sunglasses firmly in place, their height difference probably presents an angle that suggests why. What humans in this world have glowing irises?

"I am new to Gloucester and seeking to know more about the city." Returning his full attention to Rue, Elidibus continues in a pleasant tone full of polite courtesy. "...And for people to connect to and speak about like interests. Have you lived here long?"

His name comes and Rue gives an elegant curtsey in return, throwing out their arms with their billowing sleeves and gently plucking the skirts of their dress with unseen talons.

"A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Themis. Welcome to our festival of the Turning Seasons."

Considering Rue's origins in the fey realm and the wide-array of non-humans they've met in this place, the hint of glowing eyes hidden behind sunglasses do not tick off any suspicion on their end. They are quite used to what it means to have to remain hidden, so as far as they are concerned, his secret is safe with them.

"Well, I've only been here for the past few months, but I feel I've come to know this little town quite intimately. What sorts of things interest you? Any particular hobbies? I'd be happy to give out whatever recommendations you should like."

It's as Elidibus expected of someone who would help organize a festival and show signs of being dedicated to keeping it all working smoothly. They would be quickly and well connected regardless of the time they may have spent in this world (if not born to it) and likely have information to spare.

Rue also seems willing offer it. Elidibus offers them a faint smile and speaks with a touch of ruefulness. Listen closely and they might also detect a trace of sadness that comes from distant loss.

"As my friends would oft tell me, I was overly fond of my duties. It was my passion and life's work." Though far be it for him to suggest he had no hobbies or interests at all other than his work. It just seems that it takes him a moment to think. But on a personal level, it is to enjoy the sublime beauty of being able to remember at all.

"Reading and conversation. I enjoy the simple act of listening to one's unique perspective. There were even times when I would yearn for an adventure of my own."

Something he couldn't indulge in. Though once in a rare while, business and adventure could pleasantly overlap. Elidibus stills momentarily, looking as if he might not have intended to speak so much. Whether this is true or artifice it might very well be as hard to tell as whether or not he wanted to be friends with Rue.

"I have found employment in Gloucester, but it will take far less of my time than duties of old." Even though he plans to take on a second position in the ADI, it will still not come close.

"I would not be adverse to new experiences, nor offended if those I meet would find other company favorable."
ruevealing: (i'm down to earth)

[personal profile] ruevealing 2023-02-27 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
How funny that this seems to be quite the reoccurring theme among all of those Rue has known in this realm. They believed it to be something unique to link them and their betrothed together, being so bound to the duties expected of them by the courts they felt so alone in, but look how many others identify the same! It's quite fascinating.

"Ah! That does indeed seem to be a problem I hear most frequently since coming into this place. Tell me, what work was it that you were so taken with? Is it something you are able to make a living with here as well? While I don't condone making your work your entire life, loving what you do does make quite the difference in outlook."

Reading and conversation? If they were a touch closer, Rue might give the man a condescending little pat on the head. He most desperately needs better friends and better hobbies.

"What kinds of new experiences pique your interest? Do you enjoy sports? The arts?" Their soft smile quirks, just barely, as they raise an arm and wave out vaguely to the festival around them. "I must say, if you are in need of friends and new activities, you can do no better than today. We have some games going on shortly, if such a thing might be pleasing to you."
wewillwewill: (a-elidibus-away)

[personal profile] wewillwewill 2023-02-27 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
"No." Rather than first explain his work before, Elidibus responds to the latter query with a single word that holds an eternity's worth of absolute certainty.

Rue is likely no stranger to long and longer still lifespans. In the moment, the twenty-something looking human has a presence that is many millennia old.

"The full weight and scope of my duties, I did solely for my home and people. Such was its meaning that I could not accept such a burden on the behalf of another's. Nor would I wish to." He speaks in a calm tone and without anger. Elidibus is wanting nothing more than to convey to Rue who could not possibly have known, that it was simply not a matter of doing on Earth that which he gave his all for on Etheirys, his own native world.

That those particulars were so much a part of him that the position had been nigh literally his very life. To the people surrounding them he may have seemed unusually dedicated to his hometown population with the phrasing. Directed at Rue, it may be a small hint that he's away she's not an ordinary citizen.

The feeling of presence fades and with it the emphasis on the gravity of the matter. Elidibus, whose expression had become solemn, allows a brief smile to return.

"Rest assured, much of what made me suitable for my duty will make me qualified for many positions within the organization which has aided me in adjusting to life in this city. I shall not want for work." There it is again, a moment's sadness for those lost peoples. "But for the sake of friends who are no longer here, I would honor their memory and seek the occasional diversion from it."

Perhaps it is for the best Rue didn't have a chance to pat the shorter figure on the head. Or pity him his friends and hobbies for that matter. It is clear those friends were just as beloved as his people and home.

"I would not mind pursuing some form of art. Yet sports..." Elidibus frowns slightly in thought, seemingly back to his former self. "There may be some concerns for now with purely physical activities."
ruevealing: (i was made into a beast)

[personal profile] ruevealing 2023-02-27 04:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Hm.

Rue isn't unfamiliar with giving the whole of yourself over to a duty that can only be exclusively performed out in a certain realm, under a very specific set of circumstances. They were the faerie realm's Emissary of Joy for too many millennia to count, the only fey in all of the Feywilds able to feel the particular pulse of fey magic and follow it to where it would burst forth and blossom.

Such a role and title are, obviously, meaningless here. And beyond that, even if Rue was able to continue as the Mistrex of the Bloom, there's no doubt in their mind they would step down from the role on their own.

With the calm, quiet cut of his answer, with the careful explanation given, Rue can tell this man is of the same mind. The sacrifices given so selflessly in the past no longer carry the same weight as before. They see each other both then, as ageless creatures frolicking among humans who have no right to be there.

But Rue's grip on their composure is iron-clad. Their face, especially glamoured, gives nothing away as they daintily flutter their lashes, mouth pinching with feigned worry.

"My most ardent apologies, my friend. I could certainly have been a little more sensitive in my inquiry." Their expression goes warmer, purposely charming as they step forward and wave a hand, beckoning the man to follow. "Now, the art scene in Gloucester is fascinating and quite active! Whether you prefer the theatricality of performance art or the quiet sensitivity of an art studio, there's so much to see. I find my betrothed and I often attend movies at the cinema and are often swept away in the vibrant stories splayed across the screen. Truly, there's more than enough to keep one occupied."

Rather than no right, no true desire. At least on Elidibus's part. He has a world he loves and has sacrificed for and wishes to return to. It is not this one.

For Elidibus and his people, it was only natural to find some work or task or duty to dedicate themselves to. And should that journey not be cut short by untimely demise, see it to a conclusion, however much time in a nigh endless lifespan that might take. The work and duty Elidibus described was no different. So much so that he and those who filled related roles embodied the title and responsibilities as their very lives.

Elidibus looks at Rue and indeed it seems they see one another. There is an ever so subtle nod that acknowledges some level of awareness the tall fey was capable of understanding what lay underneath his explanation, regardless of their opinion on it.

His own composure in the wake suggests while the emotions were real, he may well have intended to show them. Elidibus accepts the apology with absolute grace.

"It would be normal to expect otherwise. Do not worry further." He falls into step with Rue's pace and listens to their recounting of the potential arts one may pursue. Mention of performing arts and cinema draws his attention.

"Hm. I believe my cousin will be glad to hear theatre is a part of this city's culture." Elidibus, you are trying to find ideas for hobbies of your own, not your brethren and colleague's.

"I would not mind trying my hand at the work of a craftsman." And it would be interesting to see how this magic-less world without its catalysts would make things by hand. There is a short pause before Elidibus adds. "There is occasion where I have found myself refreshed while playing a musical instrument."
ruevealing: (yes I do)

[personal profile] ruevealing 2023-03-02 05:40 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh? Is your cousin here as well? That's quite lucky from what I understand. Most don't come along with anyone from their home realm. You and I seem to be some of the only exceptions to that I've heard."

Besides Rue's favorite turtle twins, but that's for the man to discover later.

The festival is in full swing, full of laughs and delighted yells and overall cheer. And Rue simply takes it all in with small touch of pride blossoming within their chest, shoulders straightening just a touch more than normal. To be out walking among the happiness they've created is a feeling they'll never tire of.

"You'll find no lack of music to inspire you in this place. The options of genre alone are staggering. I've only just begin to delve into it, mostly on the recommendations of others. I imagine I wouldn't know where to start otherwise. But there are quite a few who play instruments among us." A surprising amount, honestly. "I've always longed to play, but I've just never had the, ah, touch for it."

Talons, after all, don't make it very easy.
wewillwewill: (a-elidibus-glance)

[personal profile] wewillwewill 2023-03-05 05:47 am (UTC)(link)
One shouldn't talk too much about another's relations after all. That would be rude. As for Elidibus's 'cousin'...

"I find myself fortunate to have found someone familiar in this new place," he answers with sincerity. Emet-Selch may not be a cousin by blood, but Elidibus is not uncomfortable in the least to regard him as family.

Music though. Music is a safe enough hobby to begin with, whether or not it ends up being a ruse to get closer to the people who are part of this land or found themselves cast adrift upon it. But Elidibus made mention that he would want to pay tribute to those who are no longer here. And while he may lie about many things, that is not one of them. Thus he will try to fulfill the claim, in the time he has been given.

However fleeting.

"The culture of music is indeed pervasive. And seemingly on par with sports." Or would that be the other way around? Elidibus isn't certain. For now it seems more interesting that Rue does not find themselves musically inclined. At least for instruments. He wonders if it is aptitude or capability.

But it would not do to admit he might be able to tell there's some sort of illusion over their true appearance, given what it means to be able to do so in the first place.

"I am sorry to hear you find yourself in a position not to fulfill that desire," Elidibus replies. His tone is politely sympathetic without being overbearing. "In such absence, do you enjoy singing? Or is your preference to listen?"
ruevealing: (i make love)

[personal profile] ruevealing 2023-03-06 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
"It's nothing, really." Rue waves an unseen wing, the marvelous glittering sleeve of their outfit sweeping along with their movement, as they brush the gentle concern away. Truly, once you've lived as long as they have, they really can't find it in themself to care too much for such a small thing. They've made out fine as a bard without an instrument at their side for this long.

Their gaze lingers over the crowds and the tents and the activities playing out. Even in conversation, Rue is keeping an eye out for anything that needs fixing.

"Both, I suppose. I do enjoy singing myself, but if given the chance to simply enjoy the musical talent of others, I'm always quite eager to listen. And yourself?"
wewillwewill: (a-elidibus-away)

[personal profile] wewillwewill 2023-03-08 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Elidibus nods. If it is nothing, he'll give no more weight to it in this conversation. Rue seems at peace with it and he certainly has no right nor interest in suggesting they shouldn't.

He will also note their tendency to keep watch on matters surrounding them both. Elidibus himself does so out of interest in what can be observed; tending the festival is not his duty over attending it. He walks with Rue but there is ever a sense that he would easily leave them be should there be matters that require their attention and simply move on from this peaceful stroll and conversation about possible hobbies and interests.

Yet Elidibus does have to think on what he prefers. "It has been a very long time since I thought of such matters," the very old young man finally answers. Being able to indulge and find focus had not been about conscious enjoyment for a very long time. "I would say I have had more time to listen than participate. Though I do not think that is what you are asking."

Elidibus considers asking if Rue wanted to know if he sang, though in the end decides not to pursue it. If they wish to know in more detail, surely they will ask.
ruevealing: (i am grateful)

[personal profile] ruevealing 2023-03-12 05:59 am (UTC)(link)
It is certainly the role of the host, isn't it? To cling to the outer edges of the festivities and watch from afar, rarely if ever allowing oneself to join in? Besides, this is Mercy's event, even as much a hand as Rue has had in making it come to life, so they are absolutely content to keep things running from behind the scenes so that Mercy herself can be a part of the celebrations.

Of anyone in this place, Mercy certainly deserves it.

His statement rings a little strange, considering it's simply the same question he asked of them. But outside of a careful arch of an eyebrow, Rue doesn't seem bothered.

"It's just pleasantries, I suppose. Though I will warn that you'll have plenty more time for both participating in and enjoying of new entertainment in this place! For how fast time flows, I find my days are endlessly filled with new things to do and discover. It's quite a delight. Whatever you are hoping to pursue, I most assuredly hope you do! I'm certain you'll find yourself enjoying it."

Fulfilling one's duty, particularly so others can benefit from the results, is certainly something Elidibus can resonate with. And though this festival might be on a far less grand scale of his of last Great Work, he does not see it as any less important for Rue or the people they are working for the sake of.

So their conversation and walk will come to an end soon when Elidibus politely excuses himself. But certainly not before a few last words. Music will be pursued. And though it still feels to him as if it is a task to perform so he may better mesh with this world while seeing his plans to fruition (millennia of such behavior and paradigm are certainly not shed so easily in a festive afternoon), there is a flutter of excitement.

"Yes, I do have some time." It has a deeply profound meaning to Elidibus. Even racing with relative speed to get back to his beloved star, will there not be some time in comparison to before? If but for a moment.

He looks up to Rue. The slight turn of his lips in a smile seems genuine in its gratitude, for all it is measured with the restraint he's shown this far. "Thank you. I am grateful for your advice."

But it is near that end mentioned before. Where something might need Rue's more direct attention or Elidibus sees someone he might wish to approach; a certain older and taller figure with pale hair and a grumpy looking disposition may be in need of encouragement to try campball, for instance.

"I shall not keep you further, though I have found the conversation enjoyable." Here he pauses for just a moment, looking at Rue and nodding his head forward. "Perhaps we may speak again in a more casual setting."

Not that the festival is anything but casual. But he seems will aware that it is because of hands such as Rue's are at play behind the scenes. He'll not delay them further.

"Oh, I'm certain our paths will cross again at some point. Perhaps even in the office! I am there most weekdays."

In turn, Rue shows the same genuine warmth in their small smile back, tipping their head in the slightest of nods.

"Pray, if you need anything else, feel free to contact me at anytime. I've grown quite fond of these smart phones of ours!
