Summary: Hickey & Jesus's boring adventure

The birds are chirping, the sky is blue, the atmosphere is pleasant. Welcome to Dogtown! This little patch of it is peaceful and idyllic, with a small path winding towards the east.

And Hickey is regarding it with pure suspicion.

"Y'know, not even a month ago someone was posting on the network about how they came across a bridge made of spiders or something of the sort," he frowns. "This looks...nice?"

Weird.

"Yeah... I'm a little afraid of what's in there. It's probably not spiders but it might be something we don't want." Which doesn't mean he won't still find a way to crack it open.

"Can you find your way back here pretty easy? I'll make a map but you should check it, make sure I don't miss anything."

Hickey can't help but laugh at Jesus's question. It's not a mean laugh, just a sort of 'man, this guy really doesn't know me' kind of laugh.

"If there's one thing I'm good at, it's tracking. Let me hang around here for a few more minutes and I'll know this place well enough to find it again."

He grins. He likes the sound of the laugh; no one back home has that kind of confidence even though everyone knows how to handle the woods.

"Fair enough. So you had to do a lot of tracking back home?"

"Nah," he says, with a shake of his head. "But here? Those Entities? I impressed one enough that it gave me a few perks."

He's heard by now of people who've lost their powers, and who are reluctant to deal with the Entities to get them back. Hickey is the first who's admitted to working with one.

"Which one? What'd they give you?"

[friendsfordinner]

"The Hunt," he grins, savagely. And there's definitely something a little Hunt-like in his expression: that's a predator's grin. "I'm better at finding my prey. Sight, hearing, scent...if I know my target, I can find it no matter what."

He nods, mulling that over, studying Hickey. "How did you know which Entity to go with?"

[friendsfordinner]

"I didn't choose it," he shrugs. "It reached out and I answered."

He nods. "It didn't scare you? Something as vast as they are, wanting something out of you?"

[friendsfordinner]

Hickey shakes his head. "I mean sure, it's scary at first. Looking up and realizing the enormity of things and just how small you are in comparison. But after a moment, I realized something. Something as vast as they are wants something out of me. Thousands of people in the world and they picked me."

He lets out a small little chuckle, shaking his head before admitting, "It's an intoxicating feeling."
