does anyone else think maybe we got too close to the truth on something this month? pretty sudden for a ton of documents to go missing, and then a ton of memories, and then nobody can talk to each other long-distance.

i dunno. i feel like it's the first thing i'd want to do if someone found something really important. question now is how do we figure out what it was?

I don’t think any of us otherworlders were here then. I’ve been here since the middle of 2021 and i can’t think of very many people still here from my Orientation, even. That leaves locals and ADI people.

as far as i can tell the patterns are us. existing, i mean. a lot of what people forgot was stuff from where they came from, like they were trying to be forced to think they lived here forever. but that's too broad a category.

That's an interesting theory. It could be argued that nobody has been here long enough to form concrete associations -positive or negative- with either their environment or the people around them.

But it does also seem to be the prevailing theory that weird things happening is just more Entity nonsense that will 'wear off' or otherwise go away without intervention.

people form connections faster through shared trauma. every single month we've been through some shit. it causes you to make some friends. but yeah, they can only go so long before stuff fades because those things can't get through to here fully. its like they want to throw boulders but can only hock spitballs. but if they're tossing there has to be a way to toss back and i think we got too close to figuring that out.

some kind of "technology issue". i don't really know how it works. but it was affecting the whole town, not just ADI offices. sometimes these things just don't work for some reason but this one seemed timed.

I think 2020 is when the first otherworlders showed up. Deepthi and the rest of that cohort. It's possible someone was aiming to steal or erase information about them or about how the way between worlds was opened, and either went broader than they intended, or did it deliberately so the signal-to-noise ratio would make it harder to pin down what they were actually after.

I was expecting that we would come out of the communications blackout to find out there were attacks on other ADI facilities, but it may have just been more sowing chaos, and feeding an Entity on people's panic.

i feel like it'd be more suspicious if anything about ADI was directly targeted. it has to be a thing where they knock out a whole ton so you can't find what it is they wanted.

aren't there still people around that haven't gone off the deep end from that group? like bonnie?

I think Reyes was one of them, too. There might be more of them around who're just lying low somewhere, but if their attrition rate was even a little bit like ours, there won't be many.
