Log - OTA! - What’s the difference between a corpse and a shirt?

Where: A rented out bar, downtown.
Summary: The wake for George Milton.

If anyone of the forcibly kidnapped to Gloucester deserved to be remembered, it was George Milton. In many ways, he was the best of them. He had been kind. He had always been willing to help and lend a hand. Unlike some whose first choice was violence (because what else was there), he had chosen to forgo that route and had come up with a much more clever solution. The solution saved lives.

It had not felt right to have a formal service for him. To put it simply, he was not a formal person. And so after much calling around, a bar had been found where they could rent out the entire place before business got too busy. It was just for a couple of hours. People could come and say nice things about George. It's what he deserved after all.

So come on in, have a beer or two, and sit a spell. Maybe you'll feel like sharing a story about George or maybe you're just there to pay your respects. There's a break in the weather, the clouds only filling up half of the nighttime sky. No acid snow for tonight.

"I assume that the fish were particularly useful?"

Because currently it didn't sound that impressive.

"How long ago did you meet?"

"The fish may have averted at least one apocalypse," Eda says in a deadpan tone that may or may not be any kind of joke.

"But that was back in... June? I think that was June." Eda wrinkles her nose. She doesn't really enjoy the fact that she's been here that long. Or that she's had to try to memorize the calendar in the Human Realm.

"More than one?"

Gauging whether it is a joke or if there's more to this place than ADI truthfully says. Not that Lilith believes mortals on such matters, they're very often wrong.

"Then these entities truly are what is said about them? If multiple apocalypses are in play of course."

Eda just shrugs. She said what she said.

There's a little pause while Eda debates if she actually has the energy to answer any of this woman's questions. She's not sure that she does, but maybe it will make an alright distraction from trying to figure out what to say to anyone about George.

She takes a long drink of her cider. "I can't vouch for everything the ADI says, but I can tell you the Entities exist."

"Have you met one? Personally, of course."

Whether that was in a physical form or a dream or vision she wasn't discriminating about -- all forms of a meeting could be useful. Or terrible.

"We haven't exactly had a coffee date let alone an official job offer, but they've... made themselves known." The urges that aren't natural for her, at least not this strongly, the dreams--her own and other people's, and of course the sheer fact she can't use her powers without feeding.

She gives the woman another sidelong glance. With the place rented out to--in theory at least--ADI folks only, there's no real point in beating around the bush.

"You human? Supposed to be able to do anything those normally can't?" She won't pry if the newcomer doesn't want to answer, but it's relevant.

Well, since the cat's a little out of the bag.

"I'm a witch." Though there's a purposeful hesitation after that sentence. "Though... others knowing such a thing is usually only reserved for other witches."

Does she already know something or is it just a coincidence? Truthfully, it's just a coincidence that Eda is a witch also but Lilith doesn't really know that.

"I know it isn't common knowledge everywhere but you do know more than many here seem to."

Eda blinks, like whatever answer she expected wasn't that, and then glances at the woman's wrists--tattoos aren't inherently inhuman, and therefore not automatically disguised; she doesn't see a coven sigil all the same.

"Well, you're in luck there," Eda begins.

"But what... kind of witch? You're not from the Boiling Isles, are you? Or at least the Demon Realm?" Eda's doing her best not to get her hopes up, but she's clearly paying more attention than she was before.

Oh, if only Eda knew just how true some of that sentence was. One day she might but to strangers she's keeping most of her truth to her chest -- she doesn't need everyone just knowing who she is now.

"Not the Boiling Isles, no, but Greendale." Currently, anyway, or at least most recently given her destination was going back to Hell. Or the 'demon realm'.

"Tell me more about these Isles."

"Doesn't ring any bells," Eda says, possibly a little disappointed. Though she notes the woman doesn't seem terribly surprised by the Demon Realm, or deny it. But if she was from there, it's unlikely she'd need to be told about the Isles.

Eda decides to play along, for the moment. "The Boiling Isles are the flesh and bones of a fallen Titan. An ancient and powerful land. Demons and witches live there. The species, not--" Eda waves a hand, a little dismissively, "human magic users. Or people who spend too much on crystals."

Lilith's starting to like the sound of this place already, though she can't help but be drawn to power or something with history.

"Only demons and witches?" She smiles slightly. "It sounds... nice."

Though nice was definitely an understatement for it, though she was being delicate for the minute.

"You've always been there?"

"Pretty much," Eda agrees. She knows about exactly two humans that are there, but she isn't about to give this woman that many details just yet.

"And I think you might be the first person here to say that." At least, without feeling the need to comment on the giant skeleton aspect of things, or to need demons aren't evil explained to them first. Or both.

"I've spent some time in the human realm before this," she adds, meaning everything about showing up in Gloucester. "Well, a human realm. But that's my home."

"I've found even among witches there are few who truly appreciate finer beings."

Though that depended on the demon. Even those of her children weren't always favoured, not when they'd made a name in despicable acts rather than a greater service.

"How was the human realm to you?"

"Not bad. They get a little weird if I don't hide my ears or use magic in front of them, but nothing I couldn't handle."

In the past, at least. It's different in a world that has the ADI breathing down her neck. Whether or not they have good reasons for doing that. "Of course, my version didn't have a bunch of fear gods complicating business."

Which... didn't stop the humans there from still hating magic in the past. But she doesn't feel like getting into that right this moment.
