Log - OTA! - What’s the difference between a corpse and a shirt?

Where: A rented out bar, downtown.
Summary: The wake for George Milton.

If anyone of the forcibly kidnapped to Gloucester deserved to be remembered, it was George Milton. In many ways, he was the best of them. He had been kind. He had always been willing to help and lend a hand. Unlike some whose first choice was violence (because what else was there), he had chosen to forgo that route and had come up with a much more clever solution. The solution saved lives.

It had not felt right to have a formal service for him. To put it simply, he was not a formal person. And so after much calling around, a bar had been found where they could rent out the entire place before business got too busy. It was just for a couple of hours. People could come and say nice things about George. It's what he deserved after all.

So come on in, have a beer or two, and sit a spell. Maybe you'll feel like sharing a story about George or maybe you're just there to pay your respects. There's a break in the weather, the clouds only filling up half of the nighttime sky. No acid snow for tonight.

Hickey's not so sure. After all, it's not like either of them saw them die. Still, he's smart enough not to mention that at a funeral. Instead, he looks at Manji before pointing out,

"If you go down, make sure you go down just the same way."

"That's the only option I got. I'm immortal. Can't die the boring, old fashion way."

Well that gets Hickey's interest. He perks up as he looks over to Manji to ask, "Now how'd you manage that?"

[canofmanji]

"Pissed off the wrong old hag who gave me cursed holy worms that keep putting me back together rather than letting me die."

[friendsfordinner]

Hickey winces, shaking his head before, "Sucks to be you, I suppose. Being immortal doesn't sound bad. The worms part? Less ideal."

[canofmanji]

"Most would think that who don't have to deal with it. There is still lots of pain. The worms don't stop shit from hurting like hell. But, yeah, I suppose if you enjoy watching those you care about growing old and dying without you? Go ahead. Knock yourself out. I'm sure after the first couple hundred years you'll learn better and by then it will be too late."

He lets out a bitter little laugh before pointing out, "That posits you've got anyone you care about in the first place. Yeah, I've got friends. But I'm not an idiot. I know they'll end up dead at some point. That much doesn't scare me."

[canofmanji]

"Yeah. I thought the same thing, but if you ever become immortal? I bet you'll feel differently then. Even without friends? Immortality gets tedious and boring. Life becomes dull without the risk of death involved."

"We'll just have to see what happens if I do become immortal."

[canofmanji]

"Just don't come crying to me about it when the enjoyment wears off."

[friendsfordinner]

"Fortunately, that's not going to happen."

[canofmanji]

Manji gives his shoulders a lazy shrug. "Good luck to you." He's going to wander off to find someone else to harass.
