Just out of curiosity what are the best date places in Gloucester? Or maybe the most romantic places?

As long as you don't fall with them, then yes, it would be very much like the movies.

It could be but it would be better if one of you caught the other one, you know like rescue them from falling. That would be better.

Oh, that’s a great idea! If I don’t fall first I could definitely do that. I’m just a little taller than he is so that could probably work…

Yes, but I haven’t done it in awhile.

If you plan on catching him then I would. I wouldn't want you both to fall and break something.

We could always tell people we fought monsters if they ask why we got injured…it sounds much cooler than tripping on ice.

Or you could say that you literally fell into each other's arms. That's a cuter origin story.

I live in Chicago so we get very cold, very snowy winters. If we make it back home I think it could be a good tradition.

If you want somewhere a little more low key, the Elm Tree Café is very nice for a coffee date.

There is a very good spiced mocha, if that's the sort of thing you enjoy.

My favorite date night activity so far has to be seeing a late show at the cinema and taking a romantic stroll across the beach. After sunset and with no one around, it feels quite like we're the only two people in the world.

I grew up by the ocean, it is a very nice setting. Especially after sunset.

Yes, I do! I have been meaning to do this for a long time. I just wasn't a very good friend before, but I'm trying to do better. He deserves to be treated well.

[After a moment's hesitation, Neal gives the address of a coffee shop he goes to when he's getting paranoid about putting the people at his favorite one at risk.]

Meet you there in twenty?

I’ll be there.

[And true to his word, he arrives, pausing to order himself a cup of coffee, something strong with entirely too much espresso.

He stands with his back against a wall as he looks around for Neil, waiting for his coffee.]

[conning]

[Neal comes over to him, already holding his own paper cup of middling black light roast. He studies Luka with an uncharacteristically serious expression, looking for any sense of the uncanny around him in the way it was in their shared dream. After a moment he shakes it off and clears his throat to make himself known.]

Hey. Thanks for coming. How're you doing?

[cuttypie]

I’m…okay. As well as I can be.

[He seems so…human, ordinary, just standing there with his coffee like everyone else.

For now, anyway.

He offers a little smile to Neal.]

We can sit down over there if you like. It’s quiet.

[He points to a table in a corner, away from others. He has an inkling that Neal might want to talk about things…best not shared with the general public.]

"Please," he says softly. Once they're positioned--Neal makes sure to get there first, so he can position himself with the wall at his back and clear lines of sight across the room--he takes a deep breath. Then lets it out. Then barrels on. "Did... Do you remember... sharing a dream, a while back? A dream about a ball?"
