Log - OTA
Who: Hunter + Flapjack, and you
When: January
Where: All around
Summary: Flapjack wants to be creepy. (Flapjack is not creepy.)
Warnings: Blanket CW for child abuse, animal abuse/injury; talk of gun violence
[Don't look now, but there's a bird standing on your windowsill staring in - a small, scarred, bright red cardinal.
Or maybe you hear something scratching or pecking on the glass and...oh. He's supposed to fly away before he's seen. Crap. Perhaps the panicked flurry of feathers is unnerving?
Or are you being followed by a persistent chirp that is trying so very hard to be menacing?
Or maybe you are lucky enough to witness a white sheet struggling and flopping between trees before dropping to the ground. A sad little lump is trying to find its way out.
No matter what or where, Hunter is nearby - hiding just under the window, tucked up in the bushes, crouched behind a tree - ready to swoop in and grab the cardinal should anything go wrong.
He'll cradle his bird in his hands and Flapjack will chirp at him, and he'll sigh.]
I'm sorry, but you aren't very intimidating.

He's trying to scare people. Obviously, it's not working. [He gives the lump a gentle pat.] This was one of his more creative ideas, though.
[The lump squawks.] You're welcome.
no subject
I feel like flying around in weird patterns would probably be scarier? [Peter don't give the bird ideas.] Depends on who he's trying to scare mostly.
no subject
Anyone. Everyone. He thinks he needs his magic, and I disagree. [He shrugs and lifts the edge of the sheet so Flapjack can hop free.] I'm only playing along so he doesn't get hurt.
no subject
While it sucks to not be able to do what we could before, its probably better to not feed those things anyway. [Discouragement for the bird? Mayhaps. Peter is trying to be helpful.] I'm glad no ones tried to hurt him or anything for trying though.
no subject
[If a bird could pout, Flap would be pouting. Instead, he flutters up to the top of Hunter's head and sits with his back to them both. He's sulking.]
I won't allow anything to happen to him.
[Oh, but Peter said "we". Does that mean...]
Do you have magic?

no subject
Magic is cool. When it's safe to use it. [The last bit is partially directed to the cardinal on his head.] Almost everyone back home has magic.
no subject
That's honestly cool- the everyone has magic part. Not the unsafe part. Hopefully its usually safe to use?
no subject
[He shrugs.] But, I guess that's what school is for.
no subject
A magic school seems pretty wild to me, but, there are schools for about everything. [Peter muses, genuinely interested in the idea. He's always been more science based, but magic is something he's learning more about these days.] I went to a science based school, so its like- exact opposite of what I was doing.
no subject
[He's not very knowledgable about human science, but he knows science fiction. His favorite book series is all about space exploration and technology. It makes sense there would be a school for that sort of thing. It must be a lucrative field of study.]
I've never actually been to school. [Hiding in one for a time didn't count.]
no subject
You might like it-? I find it kind easy sometimes, but its worth being there to learn stuff. Along with hanging out with your friends every day.
no subject
I do like learning stuff. And being with my friends. If I ever get home, I think I'd like to go.

[Blame the years of living under a strict schedule. Even after leaving the Coven behind, he felt like he needed to be Doing Something rather than sit idle.]
But I guess that's what hobbies are for.
no subject
Hobbies definitely do help. I've been working on a couple things to keep myself busy between stuff the ADI actually wants us to do.
no subject
He perks up.]
Oh? Like what?

He perks up.]
Oh! I like to sew. I'm saving up for a machine.
no subject
Depending on what model it is, I can look up the manual for it too.
no subject
I've been to a thrift store, though. I don't remember seeing a sewing machine there, but I also wasn't looking for one.
[The thrift store trip had been for clothes and essentials. And Camila already had the machine in her basement. He does remember that the store sold mostly used items for a discount.]
I guess it wouldn't hurt to check.
no subject
Sometimes thrift stores have sewing machines tucked in the back. They can still be kind of expensive far as I remember, but still worth looking at them.
no subject
The thrift store is, at least, familiar. And probably smells better. ]
I'll check it out. Thank you.
no subject
No problem, tell me if you ever want company to check it out.
no subject
[Hunter would actually be quite happy to learn more about this world, even the boring stuff.]
Oh. [Maybe he shouldn't be surprised when people are nice, but old habits die hard and all that.] Sure. Thanks.
