Log | The Multiverse Is Weird
Who: Peter Parker & You
When: December 13th and beyond
Where: Around the ADI building and downtown Gloucester
Summary: Peter tries to understand why, who, how and what all at once.
Warnings:claustrophobia, spiders
A. Well, This Is Awkward - OTA - cw: claustrophobia, spiders
[Falling into a vent when one had been previously walking away from a bar in Prague was sure a thing. A time even. Peter can't even really process what happens before he lands heavily on his stomach with a loud metal thunk. He grunts in surprise, clutching at his side with a wince. The Night Monkey costume does a decent job of cushioning some of the landing.
He looks around, just staring at the darkness. It takes him a moment to actively put together that he's trapped in a vent. The musty smell and metal walls surrounding him just make him guess that anyway.]
...Why am I in a vent?
[Peter's active confusion is why he isn't panicking. Normally an enclosed dark space would freak him out. Right now he's too baffled to actively panic. His grip tightens on the straps of his backpack as he forces himself to take a breath. Peter bites the inside of his cheek as he opts to just start crawling forward. The best way out is to find an opening somewhere. He can do that. Just focus on that, not the oppressive feeling of being inside of a vent.
Anyone below him will hear him moving around. Peter focuses on his breathing as he goes, grimacing when he bumps into something.
Why is his life like this? Why?
The spider drops on his face and he yelps in surprise, recoiling back. The sound of something jolting around in the small metal space is very hard to miss.]
B. Its Free, Actually! - OTA
[Actually getting a chance to walk around Gloucester feels freeing. A little nice even after going through all the weird introductions on base. Its definitely not New York by a long shot but it's pretty nice all the same. He's gotten the warning to avoid Dogtown, whatever that is, so, he's sticking with something kind of normal so far.
Peter is trying to not freak out about all of this and focus on anything else. Start small, build up. He can do that.]
Okay, so, in theory, I could start around here. Clothes, shoes, a flip phone, maybe. [He slows to a stop on the sidewalk, mentally trying to figure out just store to hit first. People drift by him, absorbed in their day to day lives, Peter is barely a footnote in their lives. He's fine with that. He wants to be normal, unnoticed for a while longer. That was what his whole summer vacation had been about until Elementals showed up. He couldn't help but worry about home given what he had been dragged away from.
Thankfully, Mr. Beck had it handled now. He had E.D.I.T.H, he could help Mr. Fury with Avenger stuff until Peter got back. So everyone was in good hands. He would worry about that later.
He lets the thoughts drop out of his head as he dug his hand into his jean pocket, tapping his fingers against the surface of his wallet. He had been given some money to get some new clothes and necessities off campus. It isn't a lot of money, but it can get him started somewhere.
He frowns a little debating with himself before releasing a sigh. Dumpster diving would save him some money, even if he would have to sort through everything he found.
Peter ducks between two stores, walking down the alleyway until he ends up somewhere behind an electronics store. He waits to see if anyone comes outside before approaching the dumpster. He flips the lid open carefully, picking over the array of electronics thrown inside. Older computer consoles, broken phones, keyboards, monitors... There is a lot to go over in here.
He shifts his backpack off his shoulder, unzipping it and already grabbing a few smaller components to stash away inside. He turns his attention back to the dumpster, frowning thoughtfully now.
Peter for his part is rooting around for anything useful, his attention focused a bit too intently on the finds within to notice anyone who could have found him amidst his crime.]
C. Survival Of The Fittest (test drive meme based prompt) - OTA
[Peter is definitely out of his depth here. After the lengthy introduction process, some mass confusion and strange conversations an ADI agent strongly suggested he take one of the training courses. Thus, Peter wound his way to the underground gym.
Peter stares at the various stations. He knows logically, he probably should learn some kind of self defense, but the idea of it makes him uncomfortable. What if his powers come back? Would a better punch hurt someone worse?
He just shakes his head before looking at his fellow drafted ADI agents for some idea of what to do.]
Uh, any... recommendations? I kinda have no idea where to even start.
[Will you help him, oh stranger?]

Why don't we just get our own room and you still work in that lab?
no subject
Dr. McKay isn't...really a fighter. [To say the least. If someone gets in there who just doesn't care, they could smack Rodney around or trash the stuff.
Don tries not to look too disappointed, but he's never been good at hiding how he feels (at least, when he knows what he's feeling). If Leo doesn't want to move in, then they're going to have to live apart, at least for a while. For the first time since they've been alive, or at least aware.]
no subject
He's just going to sort vaguely through clothing, its fine, he is so not awkwardly in the middle of this.]
no subject
But it clearly bothers Leo too, being here a month alone and then suddenly his twin is here but they're apart. Honestly exhausting and a little heartbreaking because he doesn't want to live in their lab but if that's all they have... He also isn't sure how he'd do living with Two of Him.]
We can figure something out.
no subject
He folds his arms, tapping a couple fingers against his bicep. He's not happy about this, but...]
Once I can source my own equipment, let's move around. For now, I need access to those facilities to have any hope of getting us back home. We can- we can trade off. Sleep overs. That could be novel.
no subject
I mean, I could just sleep on the couch or something.
[He will one hundred percent take Donnie's bed, he's just trying to sound polite here for a second.]
no subject
He's at least distracted as he carefully peers into the console to gauge how damaged it actually is under proper lighting conditions.
No sir, he's not a part of this very awkward conversation.]
no subject
but more importantly what is that over there. The console. Donnie heads over.] Do you have the tools to open that up?
no subject
[With that, he kicks back again, turning his head to Peter digging out the console.] If you don't, Donnie does.
no subject
I don't have any decent tools, so I was planning to ask around. I can probably fix it, just going to need some time.
no subject
[Turns away and sifts through Peter's other electronics like he was invited, though he's at least careful when examining pieces.]
no subject
Ooh, Don likes you. Those're probably some of the best tools you can get around here.
[Talking up his brother to make up for... something. He doesn't know what yet, but he's certain there's something.]
no subject
no subject
Leo and I found a lot of this stuff. I'm going to fix up the console so he can have it.
[Its a project for Peter to work on and keep himself relatively busy. He has no idea what life here is going to be like so any project is a good thing.]
no subject
And that's why you're the coolest here right now~
But Dee, I can show you where we found all this stuff later.
no subject

[Peter shrugs a little at Donnie's sentiment, assuming the mutant wanted something a lot more specific than the dumpster they went through.] You'd probably have to find a tech company's dumpster if you want something a couple levels beyond this. Depends what you need.
no subject
[He's a little annoyed; he may not be technologically inclined like his brother, Leo at least wanted to try to contribute some. But nevermind! He'll just take this sweet sweet old game system for himself.]
We can find something that works better for Mr. Picky later I guess.
no subject
How Leo had fallen asleep almost immediately on Don's shoulder. How he hadn't even thrown himself at Don the second he burst in. Careful. -no, considerate. Tense. Unsure. Stressed- very, very stressed.
Donnie scratches a little at his forearm before he reaches over to his hunched brother, rests a hand on his shell. Curls his fingers and uses his knuckles to rub hard, scratch the scutes right in the center where it's hardest for Leo to reach. He keeps it up even as he returns his attention to Peter.]
I don't want to take any of your haul if I don't have a specific use in mind for any of it; that's just wasteful. The hardware I have in mind will require components that are much more likely to be recycled or repurposed than just thrown away, unless they're truly defunct.
But thank you. Both. For the offer, and for the consideration.
no subject
Makes sense, on both counts. I'm mostly going to be rebuilding the playstation, and maybe a computer. I'm kinda up in the air since I don't know what they have here yet. Or how much they'll monitor us. [Is it a little paranoid? Maaaybe. His discussion with Leo on the way back had fueled it.]
No problem, if you- ever need any help with finding stuff, feel free to ask. [It is a genuine offer on his part.]
no subject
But then he feels his brother's hand on his shell before the rubbing. And it's easy to close his eyes and hum, falling into the affection so rarely given by Don. Especially when his twin goes on to be that... aware of social niceties. He'll ask about it later.]
We'll definitely ask. [If nothing else, Peter seems like he has a good head on his shoulder. And it's never a bad idea to have a human friend who won't arouse suspicion like they will.]
no subject
The scratching gets to be too much for his hands, skin still too sensitive from the sensory overload of the past two days, so Donnie withdraws but just has a mechanical arm emerge from his battle shell and resume the scratching massage of Leo's shell as he folds his own arms tightly over his plastron.]
I assume you checked for bugs already?
no subject
He is mostly just trying to let the two brothers figure out their own- thing going on. He isn't privy to their relationship or how it works.
Peter is vaguely trying to empty his bag, getting things mildly arranged on the disaster of a desk he has in the room. He's also adding scavenged clothes to the other side of the desk, jostling one of his loose web shooter free from where he left it last. He pried it out of the night monkey suit to go over and improve upon.
He hadn't expected to actually have company, so he doesn't even think about its presence being out.]
no subject
Which means actually he does need to be nosy.]
