two owls walk into a bar | closed log
Who: Edalyn Clawthorne, Delloso de la Rue
When: November 3
Where: various spots in Gloucester
Summary: Eda shows a new friend around the human realm
Warnings: alcohol, will update if anything else comes up
[Eda is waiting just outside of one of the ADI gates, leaning idly against a tree and messing about on her phone.
This is the first time Rue will have seen her in, well, technically not her witch form, but there’s not much difference save for the human looking ears. Which means they won’t notice that she happens to be a little less of an obvious mess than she’s tended to be lately.
She’s easy enough to recognize, at least from the face shape, the singular gold filling that still looks like a fang, and the absolutely untamable grey hair (although she’s made some kind of attempt, it’s up in a ponytail today.) Aside from that, though, instead of a harpy she simply looks like a tall, wiry human of an age that’s probably hard to determine, but definitely above forty-five.
She also has a tiny brown owl on her shoulder. She's been leaving Owlbert in animal form for the most part lately, since she doesn't want the ADI to catch her changing him back and forth.
All of this feels just a tiny bit… silly to her, especially in light of everything else going on in this place. But even if she won’t admit she needs more friends she’s aware that she could desperately use a distraction. Anything else aside, the owlbear is someone new and interesting at the moment. Might as well just see how things go!]

No, it's... I asked. [She may not have expected that much detail, but she did, already knowing it was something that seemed to bother them. There's no reason to apologise.]
Sounds good to me, I did say I'd try and give you the lay of the land. [She looks up, before spotting the nervous kid from earlier emerging from the back of the cafe, and waving them down.]

You did and I don't plan on letting you forget it.
[Somewhere in the back of the cafe, their young server groans. But he eventually makes it to their table, not even trying to smile, and passing along their bill.]

[Eda takes the bill and says she doesn't need the card reader, which means the server is just as glad to simply nod and run off again.
Eda fishes her wallet out of a pocket--she's trying to remember to use those--and pulls out enough cash to cover the bill. But then she decides she should probably tip, given how distressed the kid seemed, and out of habit resorts back to her usual methods.
She reaches into her hair and rummages before placing a couple of things on the table. One is a coin that's probably made of actual gold. The other is a very confused looking live mouse.]

You're awful!
[But clearly Rue loves it.]
We best make our exit quickly, hm? Shall we?

I know they don't take snails at the bank but last time I checked humans still liked gold. [She shrugs a shoulder. Because of course, that was definitely the part Rue was commenting on. Definitely. Either way, she does grab her drink and get up to follow them outside.]
