Who: John Sheppard
Username: Pegasus
Warnings: None so far!
[He’s not entirely unused to video calls, but it’s still a little weird being on earth and doing this on a network. Up to speed on the general gist of things in this world, he’s settled enough to start worrying about other things. On screen, there’s a man in what looks like some sort of vague military uniform, complete with tactical vest.]
Hi. Hello? I guess I should introduce myself—John Sheppard. Lieutenant Colonel. Air Force. I like Ferris wheels and football. Now you know everything about me.
Anyway, I figure this is the fastest, easiest way to get the word out, but I’m looking for my team. I don’t know if they made it to this world with me, but you can’t miss ‘em. They’ll be looking for me, and dressed like me, except one guy is about this tall— [He makes a gesture that shows this dude is really tall] Anyway, that’s Ronon. Teyla and Rodney would probably be with him unless we all got separated.
And on the off chance it’s just me here, well. That sucks.
While I think about how much that sucks, what does anyone do for fun around here?

Helpful, he knows. As far as fun is concerned— “My version of fun revolves around art galleries and history exhibits, which I’m not sure is compatible with Ferris wheels and football.”

He sets his jaw grimly, but he hasn’t given up hope yet.
“Not…not really. Unless the art gallery is comic book artists through the ages? Or history of football?”
Don’t let him fool you, he’s not as jock as he pretends to be.

Take your classic sci-fi movie? I’ve probably lived through it all.
And I don’t mean that to show off, it often sucks.

...so what level of weird are we talking about?

It's possible your friends will appear eventually. But unless their first priority would be securing less obvious clothing and giving false names, they haven't yet.
no subject
I figured. This was a last shot, anyway. But maybe, like you said, they’re just late.
no subject
Before you get into trouble, you should know that not everything that looks like a friend here actually is. Anyone who comes in from another reality arrives at the ADI facility. If you run into someone you know in town, check back before following them down a rabbit hole.
no subject
[Been there, done that, but it's still unsettling. And worrying. What if one of his team does come here, but they're not his team?]
no subject
But mostly I was saying that there are things that will pull images of the people you love out of your mind and use them to try to make you walk into something stupid.
no subject
[Imagine meeting your friends but they’re from the past, or the future…man, this stuff gives him a a headache sometimes.]
Really. I’ve seen something like that before. Different instances even, but the most malevolent one was a dream entity…thing.
no subject
[Her head cants slightly, attention sharpening.]
How did you deal with your dream creature?
cw: medical procedures, death
The entity came from a kind of living crystal that grows on trees, literally, and if you're near it, it compels you to touch it. This one got me to touch the crystal, and hopped a ride in my psyche or something, as one does, and traveled from person to person via touch. It would look like me in their dreams, and scare them so bad to feed off their fear. Eventually the fear was so bad people started dying from it.
[There's guilt in his voice, since it came from something he did, and it looked like him...]
Anyway, we got rid of it by confronting the entity in our dreams. The scientists in our group came up with a way of entering a shared dream through altering this virtual reality machine, or something like that, so I could go in and help my friend. We figured out this entity was vulnerable to electric shock, so they shocked me and managed to get it back into its original crystal.

So, did they destroy it once it was back in its box? Or just lock it away with a lot of biohazard warnings?

Another John? She might seem a little amused, though there's a touch of the faraway in her eyes.)
Most people arrive here alone, I'm afraid.
You sound like you're used to waking up in different worlds.
no subject
Really? Actually that’s good information, I mean, not that I can do anything about it, but it’s something people are gonna wanna know should they come here.
Yeah, it’s an occupational hazard.
no subject
Really? You another space traveler?
video
[Oh hey, it's the other John. With a little less gunpoint this time, which Carter appreciates.]
People usually show up here by themselves, sorry.
[And yeah, it sucks a lot. Sheppard talking about his team makes him think of home which he hasn't done in a while and it's a sharp pang in his heart.]
But there's a guy here from my world, so it's not impossible.
no subject
[He's not gonna lie, he's digging the 4k TVs here.]
You--someone from your world, your exact same world is here? With you?
[Now that's the first bit of concrete hope he's got that he's not completely stranded alone.]
no subject
[Which is a good thing. In theory. Carter is going to skip over the fact that that's going very poorly at the moment.]
Keeping my fingers crossed for you if that's what you want. Me, I'm actually glad my friends are not trapped in this whole mess.
no subject
[Here's hoping it's the former and not the latter, because if Kavanaugh ends up here he's going to pretend he doesn't know him.]
My friends are pretty good at getting out of dire situations. In fact, this is shaping up to be one of the less dangerous ones. [...relatively speaking.]
no subject
[Sometimes you like 'em, sometimes you become their fear lunch. It's complicated.
There's a flicker of annoyance at the dismissal.]
Aren't you a little quick to judge there? You haven't really seen anything of the bad stuff yet...
video
In this place, many come alone. Your friends did not come with you, I think.
no subject
I arrived alone, yeah. I'm hoping they show up eventually, if it really was just me that came here.

[ Not for her, but that's fine. ]
John Sheppard. Lieutenant Colonel. Air Force. [ Formal as heck, that's her, believing she's honoring some kind of human tradition. ] I am Katrina.
no subject
[There’s a smile. He’s used to going to new alien worlds with unique traditions and greetings, some just as formal.]
Nice to meet you, Katrina. You can call me John.
no subject
John. We are tribe now. We must work together to stop apocalypse.
no subject
I'm honored to be your tribe. And I'm definitely interested in stopping any and all apocalypses.
no subject
[ And if Ryn arrived here, Katrina would need to defer to her. Being the only one of their kind here allows her to be independent. ]
The enemy is strong, but we are many, and also strong. Strong of body, strong of mind. I believe we can find a way to kill this enemy, together.

But yes, I have a team. No, they’re not part of the Air Force, though.
Call it a joint science and cultural venture.

[ Expert emotional support on main. ]
You could probably find some football games, man. Tis the season.
no subject
[Just a little bit.]
I’m more into college football than the NFL, but if ADI can provide decent access to ESPN and the occasional road trip, I’ll be all right.
no subject
ESPN, sure, road trip, doesn't hurt to ask. What's the, uh... requisition. Do a requisition for road trip funds or whatever. The worst they can do is say no. I'll ask, too. Like separately. If that helps? We can make it into a whole thing.
[ Does Steve want to go on any road trips here? Not really. But he doesn't want to be here at all and he's gonna try to make that a company problem. ]

What about you?

I like to do a lot of different things. I bake mainly but I like going out for drinks, dancing, parties.
