[Manji has been trying to get new clothes to fit into this strange new world a bit better. There is just one thing he's not sure he'll understand. So much so he just has to turn on his camera and ask the network at large.]

Why would anyone wear jeans? They're so tight. How do people move in them without... pinching?

That an actual complaint or a brag, tiger? [Eda snorts.] You can always just stick to skirts though. [It doesn't even occur to her that this might be an odd choice for men in some times and places.]

[He's so incredibly happy that he doesn't have to try to text.] Mostly a complaint. I have been wearing a skirt, but I've noticed not a lot of men around here wear them. [Also some jerk teen might have said something and he won't admit it got to him a little bit.] So I thought I'd try fitting in a little bit, but if this is what most people wear? No thanks.

Hmm... now that you mention it I guess they're not in fashion. [She still doesn't really see why anyone would care, though.]

But there's other kinds of pants you know.

I swear there are too many to choose from.

Aww, need someone to go shopping with you? [It's probably a genuine offer, but the tone is definitely teasing and patronizing too.]

No! I can handle it myself! [...although it would be nice to have someone around who could possibly help answer the questions he might have.] But if you're looking for clothes I suppose you could come with me.

Uh-huh. Sure. We'll go with that. [Eda doesn't even try to respond with anything other than flat sarcasm. But she will help. Probably. If her opinions on human realm fashion can be trusted.]

So what do you know of men's clothing anyway? You got a man back home that you dress?

Nah, the only boys in the house refuse to wear clothes. [Is she going to elaborate on that? Probably not!]

But I have been to the human realm in the last thousand years, which I think puts me ahead here. And anyway, I can tell when men look good.

Anyway, I'm here if you're that bored. [He will give off a name of clothing store in town.]

No, one's eight or nine now but he's furry like a dog so it's... probably fine. And the other's like a bird-worm-you know what I'm not gonna try and explain Hooty.

But I am that bored I guess. See you there.

[Bored, in constant need of distraction, same difference right? Either way, it's not terribly long before she heads to the clothing store. She's learning her way around Gloucester by now, whether she actually thinks that's a good thing or not.

Once she's there she'll see if she can spot Manji around.]

Oh, animals. Got it. [He is possibly too accepting of her responses, but he's seen her wood owl. He sees no reason to doubt it.

It's probably not hard to spot Manji. He's standing with a confused expression on his face and a poor retail worker who looks like they're doing their best to hide a bit of frustration.]

I said I just want pants. Normal pants.

Sir, we have lots of pants. Jeans, slacks, corduroy and in a few different cuts. Do you know what size you need?

Don't you size people here?

Why don't you just try things on until you like something? That's all I do.

[Probably not the best suggestion, but she's decided it's the most fun approach. Well, that or stealing stuff and then hoping that it fits. Sometimes that works out for her too.

Eda gives a small wave as she walks over, and can't entirely hide the fact she seems to find the whole thing funny. She will save the retail worker, though, probably.]

Fine. I guess that's the only way. Can you believe they don't do custom clothing here?

[With a strained smile the working quickly gives his head a nod.] Changing room is over there. I'll let your partner here help you out. [Quickly they move and try to escape the situation.]

Hey! She's not my partner! [The worker is not stopping to worry about the correction. Hurrying along to help someone else.] Tch. Whatever.

Doesn't seem like many places do here. [Which might be annoying, if she was the kind of person who wanted to pay for custom clothing. Or pay for her clothing at all. Either way, she does nothing to stop the shop worker from fleeing.]

Yeah! [Eda agrees, making a point to sound a little offended as well.] I can do way better. [She adds the second part cheerfully. After that she looks him over, before glancing around at the store thoughtfully.]

Oh, you wish you could do better, you'd be lucky to have me. Not that you ever would. [He scoff before grabbing a few different pants to try on.] This how you buy clothes were you're from?

Uh-huh. Whatever you have to tell yourself, tiger. [She follows him while he grabs things.]

Depends, we've got places for custom where I'm from, too. But I'm not new to the human realm. You just have to get an eye for what's gonna fit alright. [She looks him over for a moment.]

The fits I keep seeming to find either fall off me or are too tight. [He needs to stop looking at skinny jeans as if skinny is the size.]

So read the numbers and find something in between? It's not abomination science, [Eda points out with a snort. She riffles through the racks and grabs a pair which are... not an especially flattering cut, but might be the right size.]

What if I'm an abomination? [He asks in a joking tone. Purposely leaving himself open to a snide comment.

He takes the offered clothes and heads to the changing room to try them on. The pants she picks out are close, but the pant legs drag slightly on the ground. Manji being a little shorter than the average American man.] This is stupid. They should just have tailors around here.

You? You're not purple enough. [Instead of the snide comment, she decides to go for most-likely-pretending she misses the implication. Gotta keep people on their toes.]

Hey, at least they kinda fit. I mean, you're set if you roll the cuffs up. [That's still fashionable, right? She has... absolutely no idea. She's pretty sure it used to be at some point.]

Purple? [He does not understand, but assumes this is some sort of modern slang he once again doesn't get.]

Clothes should just fit. [He loudly complains.] That how they work where I'm from! I shouldn't have to roll the pant legs.

It's a thing though! It's fashion. Trust me. [She grins like she definitely knows what she's talking about.]

Do I really strike you as a man who gives a shit about fashion? [Says the man shopping for jeans because they seemed popular.]

As a man who knows shit about fashion... no. Can't say you do. But you're the one trying to fit in all of a sudden. [Hey, he walked right into that first one. But she thinks she has a point with the second. Why care what's popular otherwise?]
