Event Log | Open to All
Who: Manji
canofmanji and you!
When: July
Where: Dogtown/Beach/Around Town/Jail
Summary: Event and TDM prompts
Warnings: scopophobia; paranoia; unnatural animals, hallucination
Birdswatching
Manji had volunteered his time to patrol around the boarder of Dogtown. He wasn't good at much, but he thought he could handle a job like this. He just didn't expect it to be so boring! Given a GPS and told not to get involved until he calls for help. That isn't exactly what he had expected to be told to do. At least he has someone to walk and spend the time with. Even if he occasionally grumbles under his breath all his complaints about not being trusted to go into Dogtown on his own.
Although his grumbling eventually trails off. “Hey, do you hear that?” He asks the person next to him. “Or, I guess... don't hear?” Where is the sound of birds?
Current Events
Manji has started to embrace wearing more modern clothes in order to fit in. Usually preferring a long skirt, a loose t-shirt, and his sandals. Uncaring if the colours compliment each other or not as he picks his clothes more for ease of movement then fashion. What he hasn't gotten use to is the more modern swimwear people now wear. Especially the ladies in two pieces. He doesn't really mean to stare, but he is completely and very obviously staring with his one good eye. He's really enjoying these more modern clothes.
We Feast Upon the Flesh
An easy mark is not how one would describe Manji. If the battle scars weren't an obvious give away then the scowl he often wears should be. He still can't help but notice the seagulls eyeing off the food he has. “Buzz off ya thieves!” He shouts and swing his only arm currently holding a hotdog in an effort to shoo them away. Instead of having the intended result the birds just get excited and make a grab for his hotdog.
“HEY! THAT'S MI--ACK!”
Come and Play
Everything in this world makes Manji feel out of place. Nothing was like it was at home and while he liked most of the people he's met, there was nothing familiar about them either. Every one dressed differently and came from so many different backgrounds that at times he just really craved someone familiar who could understand where and when he had come from.
Which is the main reason why he doesn't question it when he spies someone from home trapped in a reflection. “Rin!?” He spins around so fast to confirm what he saw out of the corner of his eye. She really was there! Pressing his hand against a store window, Manji listens as she speaks to him. “Hang on, kid! I'm going to get you out of there!” Surely the store won't mind a crazed looking one eye, one arm, man banging away at their glass.
Come and Play with Consequences
They minded. Or at least someone did when Manji followed the image into places he shouldn't be in. He's ended up arrested and is currently cooling his heels in lock up. After making his phone call to get out he has nothing better to do than wait. “So, what did you do to get locked up in here?” He asks his cellmate to help pass the time

For Garner Cinderbrooke
Hopefully Garner doesn't mind getting a call in the middle of the night. If he answers he'll hear the recording of: Collect call from Gloucester county jail from 'Manji'. Do you accept the charges?
no subject
He's still a little groggy when he answers automatically. "Of...course. Yes?"
Something about Manji and jail and charges...?
"Manji?" Might as well ask the odd call if it's actually his friend or not. And sit up to rub at his eyes while he's at it.
no subject
"Hello? Garner? You awake? Need a favor."
no subject
Oh. Nevermind, there he is.
"No, Manji, I'm asleep and calling you. What is going on, who was speaking for you just now, something about jail?"
no subject
"But yeah. I'm in jail. I was told someone can bring money and bail me out."
no subject
"Also, why are you in jail?"
no subject
"I punched a cop. Although I think they're making a bigger fuss than needed. It's not like a sliced him up like I could have."
no subject
"You got into an altercation with what amounts to the city guard, I think they might have a right to lock you up, Manji. What were you doing?"
no subject
"And, I thought I saw someone. Someone from home. I thought I had to get in somewhere to help her."
no subject
He'd thought he'd heard Rory the other day, but when he hadn't been able to hear her steps, he'd chalked it up to either a trick or his own mind. Maybe Manji had seen more.
"So you broke in. Alright. I want to know more, but maybe after I've gotten you free." Legally. Probably. They did have to live here still.
"You'll see me soon."
no subject
He'll go back to his cell. Waiting for something to happen. Assuming he'll either be cooling his heels here until ADI notices he hasn't showed up for work or Garner will be able to get him out.
no subject
Either way, significantly poorer but for what was left on his card-money, Garner waits out in he lobby as they assure him his friend will be released to him shortly.
Shortly is really not that short, but eventually Manji's footsteps echo down the main hall and Garner gathers the paperwork he can't read.
"Are you alright?" They're hardly in private just yet, but he also suspects Manji is fine, if not just frustrated.
no subject
Actually they didn't really care that much, but Manji telling himself he scared them makes him feel better. "Come on. Let's get out of here and thanks again for bailing me out. I owe you."
no subject
He lets Manji head their steps, keeping just to his side as they go. Once they're outside, he has half a mind to hand the papers to him to read what they say...but thinks better of it. They might end up in a bin that way. "You don't owe me anything. The money holds little value to me and the time lost for sleep can be regained later. You mentioned you were following someone into the place you were caught. Did you find anything? Did you find the person?"
no subject
no subject
He will be curious to know if he can hear this person or if the illusion of Rory will show back up instead. He hasn't heard her since he ignored her at first...he's choosing to take that as a sign and not the thought that she might be stuck somewhere he didn't bother investigating.
no subject
After a long walk he will lead them to an area that hums loud with electricity. A warning that Manji hasn't yet figured out is a sign of danger. A substation is really not someplace someone should be wandering around in. The fencing all around the place says no trespassing and warnings about electrocution. "Here, she lead me to this place, but I couldn't get in. Too much barb wire on top of the fence. Slowed me down and I got caught." There is a pause as he looks around. "But I don't see her now."
no subject
The hum of electricity makes Garner tense up, the hairs on the back of his neck standing on-end. "Manji...are we where electricity is filtered and moved to houses and businesses? Are there a-frame towers with metal structures and a lot of wires running about?"

"No one has arrived here from another world off of ADI's grounds. She could show up trapped in glas...I just don't see why it would be here."
