Network - 05 (Player Plot - Let's Fix Up Bonnie's Place)
Who: Mercy Graves
Username: mercyme
Warnings: potential discussion of fantasy racism
What: Starting up a Player Plot to fix up Bonnie's Flophouse. Let's give everyone nicer housing!
To the Gentlefolk of Other Worlds,
We have proved our mettle in Wolf Pen and returned home in both triumph to overcome a great evil, and grief for what was lost, despite our best efforts otherwise. For Sradans, my people, this is a feeling we know well. We name it the Living Haunt, for the memories will be with us until we are laid beneath the quiet soil and know our final rest. I pray that those who were lost in those distant mountains may find their ways to their gods, and know what peace and joy the Endless Sleep may bring. And that their bodies may bring life to the soil to feed those they loved.
But as they rest, we move on with our Living Haunt. Mine rests heavy, but that is not without its merits, for it is a motivating force. In Wolf Pen, we made a home for one family. Here in Gloucester, there is a home for many that is in equally poor repair, one that some of our own people set their boots aside in.
I speak of Bonnie's flophouse. I have spoken with her, and she has agreed to allow repair efforts at her property if I organize these efforts and attend to the costs. I am one woman. I can do what it is in me to, but no more. I would beg assistance from the rest of our number. There is much good to be done with ADI in defending this world against threats beyond our imagining. But cold and rain and hunger are great dangers to the common folk. We could help with this.
As a Sister of the Spring Tide, it is my duty to do so. I will be assembling equipment to begin repairs first on the roof and on the exterior of the building. For nothing can be accomplished fully until we know our efforts will not be washed away with the next storm.
Who would join me? I ask for your expertise, your time, and whatever funds you can contribute.
May the spring bring life to you and yours,
Mercy Graves

when my papa was lost and mama's prayers were answered. it was after the violence came and they had to leave their home
I'm sorry she tells the story a lot better than I do, I was a baby

I think you have told the most important parts of the story. I wonder, are there ways your people honor their dead? My people leave flowers and food at a grave to show them what we have grown from the rich soil of our ancestors before us. I am sorry if it is a strange question, but I have not met many here who have a passed loved one they've spoken of to me.
disclaimer: player is neither Colombian nor Catholic
We leave flowers and gifts at graves, too. Especially on All Saints Day in November, when we remember the saints and family who died that year, and the ones before. And we had his portrait back home in the Casita so we would see Papa every day.

[And it makes him a better person than her. Mercy presses on, setting that mental conflict aside. She'd been selfish to join the Spring Tide, to leave the Abbey. It had seemed right, but more and more, she wonders if being pulled to this place might not have been some sort of punishment for that act. She's glad to have met the people she has, but...]
That is a wonderful tradition! I know your Papa is not here, but if you would like, I would be happy to celebrate that holiday with your come this November. As my thanks for your help with this project.
