What: Starting up a Player Plot to fix up Bonnie's Flophouse. Let's give everyone nicer housing!

To the Gentlefolk of Other Worlds,

We have proved our mettle in Wolf Pen and returned home in both triumph to overcome a great evil, and grief for what was lost, despite our best efforts otherwise. For Sradans, my people, this is a feeling we know well. We name it the Living Haunt, for the memories will be with us until we are laid beneath the quiet soil and know our final rest. I pray that those who were lost in those distant mountains may find their ways to their gods, and know what peace and joy the Endless Sleep may bring. And that their bodies may bring life to the soil to feed those they loved.

But as they rest, we move on with our Living Haunt. Mine rests heavy, but that is not without its merits, for it is a motivating force. In Wolf Pen, we made a home for one family. Here in Gloucester, there is a home for many that is in equally poor repair, one that some of our own people set their boots aside in.

I speak of Bonnie's flophouse. I have spoken with her, and she has agreed to allow repair efforts at her property if I organize these efforts and attend to the costs. I am one woman. I can do what it is in me to, but no more. I would beg assistance from the rest of our number. There is much good to be done with ADI in defending this world against threats beyond our imagining. But cold and rain and hunger are great dangers to the common folk. We could help with this.

As a Sister of the Spring Tide, it is my duty to do so. I will be assembling equipment to begin repairs first on the roof and on the exterior of the building. For nothing can be accomplished fully until we know our efforts will not be washed away with the next storm.

Who would join me? I ask for your expertise, your time, and whatever funds you can contribute.

bonnie's isn't that bad. but i bet she'd appreciate a better fix to the roof than all the wood i keep sticking up there.

this does feel kind of weird though seeing as it's like just me and bonnie and the blind person in the basement

Ms. Bonnie has placed herself as a safe haven for those who would seek shelter. When I spoke to her, she mentioned taking in others from time-to-time. And even if there are not many of you, that does not mean you should live worse than others. If the building were in a better place, perhaps more would choose to move in there over ADI's more restrictive rules.

i mean you're right. like don't get me wrong you're correct here. not trying to keep anyone out so i have the place to myself or anything. just feels weird to see people planning on fixing up the place without me being involved. dunno how much i can do but i'm gonna be a huge jerk if i don't help and i'm supposed to be trying to not be that anymore. so call me when you get going.

Would you, perhaps, like to co-lead this effort with me? Planning is not, I admit, my strongest suit. Not for this. I could gather who I need for a harvest or berry-picking easily, but I knew everyone in the Abbey at home.

This is your home, first and foremost. Apart from the leaks, what things need fixed the most, would you say?

if you think you need some help with it, sure. im good at making people work. and ill be there a lot of the time anyway.

past the roof though uhhh basically everything. frankly the inner walls should probably be replaced wherever possible. theres a shitton of water damage all over so im sure it's bendy as shit. hell ive practically taken down a wall already with my hands and not on purpose.

A taskmaster. That is something I am not, it must be said. I much prefer to be the one thumbing my nose at such people, truth be told. But we will make this work. :)

That does sound very dangerous for the walls. I wonder if you think remodeling the inside may be a benefit? Perhaps if there are fewer people living there, we might be able to connect two of the bedrooms to make them a little bigger? Not all, of course, but one or two?

trust me, i'm not a fan of the big delegators, but i can do it. i work well with limited resources anyway.

considering at least two of the rooms are already like that i bet it'd be easier to just leave them that way and fortify the rest. besides we can always put a wall back up later if we wanted i guess.

What, may I ask, happened, to the walls between? I did not think the flooding was so bad as that, but I did not look into all of the empty rooms when I did my walkthrough with Bonnie.

oh no one of them had a hole for a while that i think someone punched through. don't know if that was one of us or not. and then it just kind of got worse. it was on the second floor i think the first two rooms in the hall? there were some posters over it but a bunch crumbled again during that big snowstorm.

A great many things seemed to fail in that terrible freeze. I have seen only one winter come close to something so terrible. We were dealing with a great many senseless murders and we could not even dig them proper graves. We buried them in the snow to await the spring thaw.

I hope we see nothing like Ms. Deepthi's wicked machinations again.

wow. alright you've seen enough. no wonder aelwyn thinks you're cool, you look all sweet but you're ready to throw down. good traits in someone stuck with a bunch of us fighting cosmic horrors.

but yeah. hopefully, no more of her for a while. or ever, if we're lucky, but i don't put a lot on luck.

[Aelwyn compliments her all the time, but hearing that she complimented Mercy to someone else? She feels her cheeks warm.]

Aelwyn is a most excellent person who cannot be judged by her looks, either. She has beauty, of course, but she is one of the most intelligent people I have ever met. If we are to solve the problem of how to return home, then I have little doubt she will have a hand and a half in identifying what it is.

I believe some of our number were able to kill her along with her partner in the mines. I wish I had been able to help with that. Did you face them?

[Beau can't remember if Aelwyn has used that exact word, but she knows her well enough to know Aelwyn doesn't mess around with people who don't impress her in some way. The fact she's stuck by Mercy like this says more than any other words she could've provided.]

don't sell yourself short on that, either. you've done a lot of good. and looks like you're gonna keep doing it, so there will be more.

not her. i was too busy with jimmy at the top. he gave me some shit during the tour beforehand so it was personal. glad someone else was able to go take care of the rest of them because there's only so many wax guys i can punch at one time.

I have wits on my side and some intelligence, but I know where my strengths lie. We are a community. Everyone need not show excellence in everything. I leave Aelwyn to her investigations, and I restore flophouses. Equally important, but very different skill sets. I appreciate the balance she brings to my life. I am a practical-minded woman. I have always had others to help with the more abstract.

I do still wonder, you mentioning wax people, how Pyre fit into everything that happened. It seems he was there, but then he went away? Do you think he might become dangerous when he sees that the circus was destroyed in his absence?

it's good she has you too, then. we can't all be beating the bad guys. somebody's gotta know how to actually live.

i dunno if he was actually there. we thought he was jimmy but turns out jimmy was his dad? guess if he's still out there he's gonna be mad figuring out i beat the shit outta his pops though. i dunno if he cared a ton about the circus but he might if he figures out we were behind both.

we can't really prepare for everything. if he shows up pissed its not gonna be much different if someone else shows up pissed with a bunch of matches. it's not hard to start a fire.

besides it would be really stupid to go to the house of the person who killed two people stronger than you and start screaming. if he was smart he would lure us out or something. or just keep his head down so he can go be terrible someewhere else and not get his ass kicked.

I think the reason why so many people live at the ADI apartments instead is because the ADI apartments are more protected against outside interference.

If we can fix them up, protect them and make them altogether better than the ADI apartments, that could probably change.

maybe. as long as it doesnt bring narcs because we don't have potted plants in the toilet anymore. you start getting too nice it brings in the people who get scared when you run into the living room with a sword.

On a more serious note though, the lack of options presented to new arrivals is a serious problem, and that's part of Mercy's objective. To add more.

i could if i wanted to. my fists are just better. but i feel you. we could get a lot more critical of what theyre doing if everyone wasnt on premesis all the time.

At least you have that luxury. They make me take martial arts training and marksmanship instead of letting me make things explode with my fingers. I swear I must have gained a level in fighter.

You would look pretty cool with a sword, admittedly.

sorry buddy. never did the wizard stuff. i guess i could teach you some monk moves if you wanted to go to beaus boot camp but youd really need to be up for it.

i had a cool ass sword once. it was gold and you could teleport with it. gave it to a friend though.

Hmm, I'll consider it but it's probably a no. If I have to choose a weapon that isn't magic, I at least have some experience with guns.

Also, I had a stopwatch that could pause time for up to 24 hours. I miss it more every single day of my life, to be honest.

dude that sounds sick as hell. i got a couple things here with me but most of them dont work right. or they do but its kind of overkill. actually havent really used one and now im wondering whats gonna happen if i do.
