Network - 05 (Player Plot - Let's Fix Up Bonnie's Place)
Who: Mercy Graves
Username: mercyme
Warnings: potential discussion of fantasy racism
What: Starting up a Player Plot to fix up Bonnie's Flophouse. Let's give everyone nicer housing!
To the Gentlefolk of Other Worlds,
We have proved our mettle in Wolf Pen and returned home in both triumph to overcome a great evil, and grief for what was lost, despite our best efforts otherwise. For Sradans, my people, this is a feeling we know well. We name it the Living Haunt, for the memories will be with us until we are laid beneath the quiet soil and know our final rest. I pray that those who were lost in those distant mountains may find their ways to their gods, and know what peace and joy the Endless Sleep may bring. And that their bodies may bring life to the soil to feed those they loved.
But as they rest, we move on with our Living Haunt. Mine rests heavy, but that is not without its merits, for it is a motivating force. In Wolf Pen, we made a home for one family. Here in Gloucester, there is a home for many that is in equally poor repair, one that some of our own people set their boots aside in.
I speak of Bonnie's flophouse. I have spoken with her, and she has agreed to allow repair efforts at her property if I organize these efforts and attend to the costs. I am one woman. I can do what it is in me to, but no more. I would beg assistance from the rest of our number. There is much good to be done with ADI in defending this world against threats beyond our imagining. But cold and rain and hunger are great dangers to the common folk. We could help with this.
As a Sister of the Spring Tide, it is my duty to do so. I will be assembling equipment to begin repairs first on the roof and on the exterior of the building. For nothing can be accomplished fully until we know our efforts will not be washed away with the next storm.
Who would join me? I ask for your expertise, your time, and whatever funds you can contribute.
May the spring bring life to you and yours,
Mercy Graves

I'm not any kind of expert in home repair, but I've got some basic experience with maintaining a house. I also assisted a few months ago with the flooding and I agree that Bonnie's is a good, worthwhile project.
So I'd be willing to offer what help I can. Has anyone done a consultation to make a full list of what needs to be done?

Ain't done a full accounting of everything that needs doing, mind, just the broad strokes. First time I ever run something like this, truth be told.

He's working on it.]
I'm sure Bonnie has a list of things that she considers most important, she's the one who would know the house best. It will make it easier when it comes to organizing, maybe let us handle multiple tasks at the same time and save some effort.
[He gives a small, rough laugh, because he's sort of running with this, isn't he? But it's something that he can affect, things that can be fixed and put in order with little more than some lumber and time.]
I won't take over, I promise. I'm just used to being the one doing the organizing. Mostly, I know enough to put some things in order, and to follow directions without getting in the way.

Aw, shucks, I wouldn't put this on you. 'Sides, I'm already volunteering Ms. Beau to help with the leading. She's living there, so it only seems right she gets the most say in what's done past Bonnie. According to her, the walls inside got damage something terrible from all the water. As many times as that place has flooded, I believe it, sure enough.
Trying to figure out how we're gonna handle all that when we get to it. Ain't used to walls that had pipes and the like inside of them. We got stone all through where I'm from

I might be a little too used to taking charge at times, I did a lot of work in my past life that required quick and confident decisions. But I know my limitations, so I'm happy to do what work I can and defer to the people who know more about this than I do.
Beau has a good head on her shoulders. Between her and Bonnie, I think we'll wind up with a good plan. It might be worth having an expert look at the house plans, as well, to see if anything can be done to prevent future flooding. Prevent the damage from happening again with the next big storm.
[he's not an expert in that, either, so he's more than happy to call in a professional where needed.]

But I agree it's a worthwhile project, and you have as much support as I can manage.

[She makes a little bit of a face at that.]

Careful, this place could very well take you literally on that, given some of the things we've seen happen here.
[He clears his throat, a small rough sound.]
But I'm glad to be involved. Keep me updated, and I'll be there as much as I can.
