LOG - Just keep swimming (Closed)
Who: Luka, Donna, Callisto
When: Now-ish/before the event
Where: Apartment C4
Summary: Luka moves in
Warnings: None so far, will update if necessary!
This is a nice place, he thinks.
It's not too different from any average apartment in Chicago, not too different from his own. It's modern and space-y...full of space? And there's lots of amenities nearby.
It's just weird that this is a different world.
Admittedly he thought that maybe an entire alternate universe would have something super weird as an apartment? Like maybe they'd live underground in caves or something or in treehouses. It's just that this is pretty mundane.
Then again, there is the large threat of supernatural stuff happening here so maybe it's not so mundane after all.
He brings in a few things that he's bought and brought with him, and including large box marked fragile on the side.
And then a few small bags filled with water.
With small, brightly-colored fish in said water.
At least he'd had enough money on him to buy a few comforts, and setting up a fishtank will be fun! It's much smaller than what he'd preferred, but he wasn't exactly about to get a doctor's salary right now unless he started moonlighting again or something, so he had to start small for now until he saved up.
This is gonna be great!
A. For Donna
So he's not exactly the tidiest person around.
There's boxes laying around of things he's bought, some things he's picked up for cheap at a thrift store, some clothes he might have spent a little too much money on, and so many fish supplies.
There's styrofoam bits lying about, packaging, bags, bits of paper and cardboard, and he's totally going to clean it up, he promises?
He also knows how to cook. But he also doesn't bother cooking a lot unless he really has a reason to.
So that means there's food packaging everywhere, too. Takeout boxes and styrofoam containers and cups lying about.
He's totally gonna clean it up, he swears?
But he's just so busy setting up his fishtank. Luka hums under his breath as he leans over the small tank with a catch net, setting up rocks and substrate, and little fake plastic plants as the fish swim around, annoyed that he's doing this now instead of before he put them in there.
It's fine.
B. For Callisto
At least his fish tank is set up now.
And everything is cleaned up now.
Mostly.
Luka flops over on the couch, his attention completely focused on the tank.
It's not like his tank at home, and he's super worried about his fish. He hopes that someone figures out he's missing and realizes that they need to be fed. Maybe Abby would...there's a pang of regret when he thinks of her, wondering if she would miss him, wondering if she thought he'd gone back to the Congo without telling anyone and just...disappeared. It would be better that way, he thinks, even though he wouldn't have done that...what would they think of him? What would she think of him?
But there's nothing he can do about that now. And at least Carter is here, and he's not alone. And if anyone can handle all this supernatural craziness with him, it's Carter. Hopefully.
There's a slightly wistful look on Luka's face as he stares at the colorful, small fish zipping to and fro, imagining even more things he can do with the tank, imagining a bigger one, or maybe he's really just zoning out watching the fish swim back and forth.

"Oi, pretty boy. What's all this, then? Not your maid or your mum. When's this getting cleaned up?"

He turns around, an absolutely baffled look on his face. Not just because he's not used to dealing with roommates. He lived with Abby for a bit and well, Donna kind of sounds like an English version of her.
But it's mostly like he didn't even notice there was a mess.
...mostly because he didn't actually notice there was a mess.
"Oh, this?"
It's not so bad, really?
"Sorry, I was just a little distracted setting up the tank."
There's a good-natured smile, a kind laugh and...
...he goes right back to the tank, not making any move to clean up.

"But it's not good to leave them without a home..."
Think of the fish without a home, Donna.
"It's really not that bad out here."
But he knows that tone of voice, and somehow it works on him, as puts the net on top of the tank so it won't float around. He still rolls his eyes a little as he starts picking up the nearest styrofoam containers, muttering something under his breath.

That's... maybe going a bit far, but she's frustrated and doesn't have a great outlet for that right this moment.

Luka's mouth opens and closes and for a moment it looks like he might get mad, but he doesn't. He instead just looks guilty.
"All--all right, I'm sorry. I'm not used to...all this." He nods at the room. Or maybe at the window.
Living with roommates. Traveling to a different world. Etc.
He's far more contrite than he was a moment ago, so apparently talking-to's do work well on him. He dutifully cleans up the rest of the mess, and then goes right back to tending to his fish.

"Dunno how you like it, but there." Good boys get treats? "What sort of fish are you getting, then? Fair warning, bad stuff happens here. You'll want some that are hardy."
no subject
Huh. This is new. Both the glass tank and the man.
She gives her attention to the former first, crouching down to peer into it.
"Is Donna cultivating them?"
no subject
...probably.
She's also wearing leather armor so he's not sure if he should be worried or not about that, too.
All of this is probably fine.
"Donna? Uh, no. They're mine."
no subject
She does not say the other woman who lives here; Callisto herself doesn't consider herself a resident of this apartment. She's just assigned to it and she drops by sometimes, that's all.
Scooting closer to the fish tank, she studies it more closely, frowning a little.
"They'll get bigger, right? They don't look like they'd even make a good snack as they are."
no subject
It's just you kind of just waltzed in here, so...
Wait.
Wait a second.
"Snack?" There's a laugh. Cause she was just being funny? "I mean, they'll get a little bit bigger, sure..."
no subject
Supposed to being the operative term.
"You aren't planning to eat these, then?"
