Well.

That didn't go how he expected it would, and he flounders for a second, not sure where to take things from here. Demons don't do bright and cheery and unflappable, even half ones, and Crowley doesn't like being on the proverbial back foot.

"We've not really needed rules." Questions, at least, he can answer. Even the one about the bedroom. He gestures to the first two doors, "Those're mine and — Aziraphale's, he's out right now. Suppose you can have the last one, s'down the hall a bit."

They're going to have to figure out rules. Humans probably have advice about this sort of thing on the internet, hopefully.

"Thanks! I'll go put my stuff down and then you can give me the tour!" Without waiting for an answer, Jester practically skips off down the hall and bursts through the door to what is now her room.

The walls are beige, there's a simple if generously sized bed, a desk, and two windows overlooking more of the complex. It's boring and begging to be personalized, but there will be time for that later.

She tosses her haversack on the bed and trots back out into the unit proper. Curious and with an air of someone used to having her questions answered, Jester folds her hands behind her back and rocks a bit, tail swaying gently. "Okay! I'll have to paint later to make it nicer but it's pretty big so that's good. What else should I see? How long have you and Aziraphale been here?"

Things that Crowley needs: a drink and a cigarette. He can only have one while inside, so while Jester is busy dropping off her stuff, he goes to the kitchen to pour himself a glass of wine. Whiskey would be preferable, but he's still getting used to drinking with a demonic alcohol tolerance, so wine is safer.

By the time she's back out, he's nursing the drink and has his glasses back on, far more comfortable with not having his eyes on display for a stranger.

The first thing he does is hold up a finger, "We're gonna circle back to the painting thing, but you've seen about all there is to see in here, I'm afraid, and we've been here about... six months? Five months? Something like that."

Time is boring.

"That's kind of a long time. Are you from Earth originally, or another plane? ADI said there's not really anything but humans that are 'regular people' when I asked but maybe they don't know. From what I've seen, there isn't any organization like that that knows everything, especially if they say they do." She has no doubt that ADI was founded to do what they say they do - fight fear, try and keep the world safe, and so on - but any group that gets to any particular size has people doing other things to their own ends. The Cobalt Soul, the Dynasty's government, the Empire's government, even her dad's criminal enterprise was hiding people with other more nefarious ties. If they can miss that kind of stuff, it's not hard to mistake a demon for a human, especially if he's got regular old human color skin and no horns or tail.

"Still, six months and no apocalypse is pretty good, right?"

That was a lot of words for Crowley to parse through, and he blinks at Jester for a second or two while he processes everything, deciding what's actually worth responding to and what was probably just an idle comment on her behalf.

"I was on Earth before here, but it's a bit complicated to explain where I'm from originally." Heaven, technically, which isn't the type of conversation that he likes to have with strangers. "As for here, this Earth, seems they've only got humans. Aside from the weird shite with the Entities, you're not going to run into elves or anything out there."

Elves seem like a reasonable enough example to use.

"And apocalypses usually take a fair amount of time, in my experience." Ha. "I've no idea if ADI're actually contributing to the world not ending." Which sort of ties into her point about organizations actually knowing everything.
