(open) where have you been?
Who: Ren Amamiya + Bonnie's Flophouse residents + ADI visitors!
When: July 29th
Where: Bonnie's kitchen
Summary: Just Ren being homely, making food for everyone! Curry night! Feel free to make your own top-level, you don't have to interact only with Ren!
Warnings: None aside from the gentle reminder that he was indeed a seal and everything that happened in there. Also mentions of P5 spoilers!
(Being in his body feels strange from time to time. It feels a little concerning to have fingers when you once had a fin, to be able to hold objects in your palm, super weird to have toes, so on. He's been a rat before, but it was for much less time than he had been a seal, and it wasn't traumatizing then. It was actually pretty fun! He remembers hopping around, flamboyantly, eating cheese, doing what he does best! Being a seal, it wasn't so great.
But at least he's always looking forth, with a smile that never wavers, so instead of dwelling on what happened, Ren can make himself useful around the house by doing what he does best. Nevermind him adding a little chocolate to it! It's a family trade!)
Could you stir this for me for a second?

[Galliard has just wandered down into the kitchen to try and find something to eat, he didn't expect to get pulled into cooking! But hey, if someone else is doing all the work and he gets to possibly eat the rewards, he's willing to stir for his supper.]
What're you making?
[It's definitely not something Galliard has had before!]
no subject
Ah, home can be anywhere as long as you take it with you, isn't it?)
Curry and coffee. Have you ever tried?
no subject
[But he's never smelled coffee quite like this. The stuff Galliard is used to has the consistency of motor oil, and he watches with interest.]
Never heard of curry before, though.
no subject
(With coffee, not so much, but he used to live in a cafe that sold the two together. It's a little different, sure, but when you know how to play the flavors, the two complement each other so well.
A good idea he has is to splurge a little when he has money for some gourmet coffee for the house. It'd be nice.)
Do you like spice?
no subject
I haven't had a lot of it.
[Spices are expensive, and no one wants to waste good spice on soldiers.]
It smells good, though. Do you eat this with coffee?
no subject
(And the coffee is ready, and so is the curry. Ren closes the bottle, smiles as he takes over the stove again and turns it off.
He'll tiptoe for the cabinet, taking two plates to serve. A generous amount of rice, another of curry, and he offers the man his dish.)
Tell me your thoughts, I'll get your coffee in a minute.
(The demeanour of someone who actually worked with this. After getting the two cups of coffee and a plate for himself, Ren moves to the table, rubbing his hands in excitement.)

[Galliard takes the plate without question, and settles in at the table. He pokes around at the food for a moment, then scoops up some rice and curry and takes a bite.]
[His eyes go wide.]
Holy shit.
[And he starts shovelling the curry in his mouth.]
no subject
(Ah, that's the reaction he likes to see! There's even a peal of laughter from Ren before he can eat, taking a sip of his coffee to wash down the curry.)
Don't forget to drink.
no subject
[Galliard isn't even embarrassed about how he's eating. When food this tasty lands in front of him, he makes short work of it.]
[But yeah, coffee. Galliard pauses to take a sip, and damn if he isn't surprised all over again. He looks across the table with wide eyes.]
Are you a chef or something?
no subject
(... Which could technically make him a chef? Ish? Question mark? Not important. All that really matters is that the curry tradition remains strong. If he can make more and more people love Sojiro's recipe, he'll be happy.)
I'll make it more often.
no subject
[That is all the evidence Galliard needs.]
[He's suddenly aware of how he's inhaling his food like a starving man, and slows down a little. He's gotten so used to scoffing everything as quickly as he can while he's in the field that he's almost forgotten how to eat like a normal person.]
I can help, if you want. With the cooking and buying ingredients and stuff.
no subject
(Isn't a chef someone who's been to culinary school, has a business, or something like this? Ren fits none of that, but his eyes close as he speaks as a shown of gratitude for the comment.)
That'd be nice. There are other things I can try to make, too.
no subject
[Take the compliment, damn you! Galliard didn't intend for it to be a compliment, but now he glances up, and wipes his hand on his pant leg before offering it across the table to shake.]
I'm Galliard. What's your name?
no subject
Ren pauses for a second there, only because he hasn't wholly gotten used to the handshakes in lieu of bowing, but once he realizes it the hand is taken with no hesitation whatsoever.)
I'm Ren.
no subject
[And now back to the food! Galliard takes his hand back and starts eating again, albeit more slowly and like a human being this time.]
So you worked as a chef before you came here?
