Who: The residents of ADI Apt B1 and YOU.
When: January 18th, from early evening onward.
Where: Apartment B1 at the ADI complex.
Summary: Tim Drake discovered Meredith Idlewild's birthday is today (by snooping in her stuff) and her boys decided to throw her a little surprise celebration since she, you know, looks after them and shit. Ofc neither of them knows how to do that, really, so Malcolm has recruited Neal Caffrey as Party Planner.

Thanks to Neal's intervention, the party Malcolm and Tim are throwing for Meredith is very nice, with tasteful decorations and good wine, alongside fancy finger foods and even fancier cocktails. Neal mans the 'bar' personally, mixing drinks for anyone who'd like to try one.

Malcolm and Tim will try to be social. It's for Meredith.

They did use Tim's connections, too. He recruited Jeff to slip invites onto people's desks if they work at ADI and take some over to Bonnie's. Meredith deserves maximum appreciation. The invites instructed everyone not to say anything to Meredith. When she comes home, it's meant to surprise her.

Mix, mingle, eat and drink.

Late-evening
Your hosts will arrange a cab if you can't make it home; they already have a police lieutenant sleeping on their couch and tonight has been a lot of peopling for them. If they need to carry you down there... they're more capable of it than their slight frames would suggest.

"Is that how it works? Back home, no one throws parties in my honor."

She stops teasing, letting her hand come to rest again.

"Far as I'm concerned, that's how it should work. I mean, unless you started being really hurtful or something."

A pause, and a sip of whiskey, and then he continues.

"Speaking of which, I have a confession to make."

"What kind of confession is that?" She tilts her head to one side, smile dimming but not disappearing completely. After all, if he's saying this in the middle of a party, it can't be too much of a Thing.

"A shocking one." he says, his brows raising and a slightly humorous expression on his face, "When we were talking on the network, I wasn't actually all that interested in learning about admin stuff. Mostly I just wanted to meet you."

That doesn't actually surprise her. She'd told Aelwyn that Ches was most drawn to competence (though her phrasing had been more casual then).

"So was everything else worth suffering through the lesson anyway?"

"I don't know what you're talking about. The lesson was enlightening. I'm actually going to use some of those techniques to keep the pack emails and stuff organized once I get back home. Don't imagine I'll get enough stuff going on here to bother beyond my journal, though."

A little grin, and he leans in, eyes locking with hers, "It was more than worth it though."

Meredith meets him halfway, for a soft, light kiss. No, they're not going to have a full makeout sesh in the middle of her birthday, but one kiss won't hurt anything. It's not like anyone's paying too close attention, right?

Ches returns the kiss, quick and light and easy. After he pulls back a little bit, he smiles at her.

"Mm, nice. I am glad I came after all."
