Summary: A little thanksgiving party for everyone.
Warnings: Alcohol, but other than that, none!



(It's finally the day! Ren's spent the day in the canteen, from the early hours of the morning with the help of Kate, until just close enough to the arranged time.

Several tables in the cafeteria are taken by the food, but there's still plenty of room to sit and spend time with your fellow ADI employees. After the previous month everyone has had, it feels much needed. Available is the following menu:

Deep-fried Turkey + Stuffing;
Ranch-Seasoned Roast Turkey + Stuffing;
Mashed Potatoes + Gravy;
Green Bean Casserole;
Cranberry Sauce;
Pasta alla Norma;
Sicilian Rice Balls;
S'mores Cupcakes
Pumpkin Pie;
Apple Pie;
Sweet Baked Potato;
Pecan Pie;
Roasted Vegetables;
Stuffed Mushrooms;
Squash Soup;
Garlicky Green Beans with Crispy Onions;
A selection of alcohol;

Ren's tried his best to recreate what the Internet and other folks have told him, and without him tasting the original flavors, some of the dishes might have an unexpected twist of spice. Kate has also helped with putting things together, and at the previously arranged time, Ren opens the doors with a smile from ear-to-ear.

Once everyone's settled, he'll ask for a moment to, gasp, speak:)

I'd like to thank everyone for coming today. I know it's been tough, but I'm still thankful we can spend good moments like these together. I hope you enjoy the food.

I AND A LIL BIT OF WILDCARD

Kurapika doesn't say much for most of the event. Instead, he too people watches and spends his time buried in books, one, two, three-- the man next to him hasn't eaten much. He can't help but to notice that at this point, the soup might be cold. Forgive him for looking at it in confusion.

Someone is staring at the soup he’s been nursing for an hour and a half. Malcolm raises his eyebrows faintly at him.

“Can I help you?”

"Do you want a replacement? It must be cold at this point."

And Kurapika isn't a culinary expert, but cold soup kind of defeats the purpose of having a warm, comforting meal.

“No,” Malcolm tells him. “No, thank you. This is fine. Did… you find something to eat okay?”

[chainreactions]

"I did. I'm still unsure why I came, but the background noise helps concentration in a way. The extra work our brain has to do while processing a problem or task in a relatively noisy environment gives us the extra push we need to find more creative solutions, I've read."

[abrightboy]

“That’s interesting,” Malcolm concedes. “Do you know if that’s true across the board, or is it different for people with conditions like anxiety that can be triggered by crowds and ambient noise?”

[chainreactions]

"I can't say for sure. From what I understand about it, anxiety and noise for concentration most likely won't mix. It might generate a loop of frustration--, but then again, I'm going by what I've read back home. I'm mostly focusing in history for this place."

[abrightboy]

"I expect studies for the benefit of the general population wouldn't take mental illness into account," he concedes. "Is this place very different than where you're from?"

[chainreactions]

"I try to learn a little bit of everything. The more knowledge one has, the better equipped they are to face life conundrums."

It's saved his life on more than one occasion, after all.

"Yes, and no. Technology here is more advanced, I believe you can place us in the early 2000s in that regard. Animals are similar, but not very like it. Culturally speaking, there are many gaps."

“What sort of gaps?” he asks.

"Homosexuality is not a concern, and assassins have their own touristic tour in their hometown. Things like such."
