(When he learned about the living options, this was without doubt not what he had envisioned. Itโs pleasanter, much bigger than he had yearned for, and while he doesnโt intend to ever take advantage of the pool, itโs where he finds himself tonight. He, in all likelihood, catches the eye in his suit and tie, and itโs a shame he doesnโt have his traditional clothing at hand because thatโs definitely what he would rather wear instead - or even pajamas at this point. He should get to it as soon as possible, but taking into account how he's been absorbed in learning everything he can, it's on the back of his mind while all his concerns bubble to the surface.
At least itโs quiet, and Kurapikaโs ears are tuned to the water smoothly running along with the wind as he takes a seat at the edge, careful not to stain the only outfit heโs got. Itโs a good, silent place to collect his thoughts.
Being dropped into a whole new world wouldnโt exactly be the end of the world, should Kurapika have finished what he set out to do. Yet, he doesnโt know when heโll be able to return, and how things will be once he does. He was so, so close this time, all his brethrenโs eyes nearly all collected to be returned, everything heโs worked so hard for, compromising his resolute morals to the point of extortion, bribery, threateningโฆ And now? Now, heโs here.
Itโs been dreadfully tempestuous here as well. Not even a week in, and heโs already sought to mutilate a priest and had a fit of terror while trying to inspect an episode. It shouldnโt matter. Heโll work on a way to get them home, no matter the cosโ
Someoneโs here. Kurapika can distinctly pick up the steps of an arrival, and without delay, heโll get to his feet. Whoever it is, theyโd probably like to be alone in a place like this, at a time like this.)

(At least for ADI, he feels dressed appropriately. Right now, he sits in the library, files upon files upon files piled up in front of him, concealing the blondeโs thin build behind it. Before him, a notebook written in strange letters, where heโs been documenting his thoughts and experiences as the time goes by. If heโs going to figure out this place and find a way back to his mission, heโs going to need the entire picture.
One thing he realizes, however, is that there are things that wonโt be in books and reports, lamentably so. As someone walks by, Kurapika peeks from the mountain heโs created and beckons them over. No smiles, however, the politeness never leaves his voice. All said in a quiet tone, thisโs a library, after all!)
Excuse me. Iโm new here and Iโm reading up on whatโs been happening as of late. Iโd like to hear about your experience if itโs not a bother.

(Enough is enough with the suit.
The only problem is -- what is "normal" in this place? Back home, Kurapika pridefully wore the patterns of his people, Hisoka wore his magician stance in his sleeve (literally), and let's not talk about the Zodiacs, each physically resembling the animals they symbolize without anyone batting an eye. Except... Kurapika would like nothing more than to blend in, evade the attention of non-ADI individuals and he can't do it without knowing what's too much and whose sense of fashion might be wacky.
So, here he is, diving into a pile of clothes at the first thrift shop (cheap!) he's found, each time the feeling around him being more and more of gloom and doom with each passing moment. He's absolutely lost. He hates it.)

(Finally, in an oversized black hoodie, jeans, and boots, Kurapika leaves for a mission. He doesnโt know who came around with him this time around, but after the latest fiascos, Kurapika hopes theyโre useful and able to handle their own. Kurapika himself has already had some poor experiences in this new reality, and he knows that certain skills are better than others. A cool head, check for him. Analytical skills, check. Above-average intelligence, check. Being completely out of his mind when the situation pulls his trauma or triggers to the surface? Unfortunately, check as well. Even so, Kurapika promises himself heโll do his best to not do anything harsh, and simply do what he sets out to do: report back on ghost sightings at the Castle.
On the bus, Kurapika reads โ fiction about monster hunters, and Kurapika even has a childish grin on the edges of his lips. What a sight for someone whoโs been solely distant.)

(He doesn't exactly MEAN to sound condescending, it's a fair question in his mind, considering she mentioned carts before and he has no idea where did she come from, anyway.
His own comprehension of this world is coming little-by-little, and he finds it safe to not assume much about anyone else's.)

It does get her to reach out and give the watch face a hard flick with her finger, though. She has no qualms about making herself as annoying as possible.]
Pointless.
[She scoffs.]
Who needs to divide up the day that much?
[People who want to know how long the bus ride is going to take do, Callisto.]
no subject
(Or that. Did this motherfucker just--
Yes. Yes he did.
Kurapika shoots her a glare for the flick, finding it nothing short of ungraceful, but he soon finds that reading would be a much better use of his time than arguing. Soon, the bus stops, and Kurapika looks out the window. Should be here.)
Let's go.
no subject
Come on.
[She says, over her shoulder.]
Let's not keep our friends waiting.
[The ghosts, she means. Look at her, following instructions and not openly talking about paranormal activity in public.]

When Kurapika hops off, there's a moment in which he stares at the building. Exits, entrances, windows, everything that can be used in a moment of emergency.)
Why are you going on this mission? They're optional.
no subject
[She retorts, as if he's the one who's been an absolute sourpuss from the get-go. But as they head up the path towards the building, she does deign to give his question an actual answer.]
I agreed to work with them, and in return, they'll do what they can to send me back to the land of the living - not this land of the living, but the one I was born into. I have some unfinished business there.

(And he had been so close. So goddamn close. And now he's here. Of course, Kurapika is just not in his greatest mood.
Yet, he gracefully enters the structure, eyes analysing every crevice and turn.)

[She says, her tone artificially casual and breezy, even as her heavy, stomping footsteps showcase her actual mood.
Once the caretaker lets them into the building, however, Callisto pauses to take in the sight, too: modern architecture is still new to her, and that goes doubly so for mansions. She's not awestruck - that's not really her style - but she is interested, and she runs her fingers over the keys of the entry hall's pipe organ.]
They gave me something they called an "EMF reader", to help with sensing spirits.
[She says over her shoulder, not bothering to turn around and look at Kurapika.]
What did they give you?
