[Aelwyn isn't eager, when she hears that she'll be having roommates. Roommates that will be randomly assigned. But she also would rather chew on lead than live alone.

So here she is, a bag behind her carrying her miniscule belongings. Her wand, her spellbook, a few weapons and trinkets she picked up at the office. The odd stapler. She reads the note that she was given, indicating where she'll be staying, and checks the door to in turn confirm that B3 does in fact say B3.

No time like the present. She turns her key in the lock and opens it, a polite smile on her face.]

Hello? Anyone home?

[She closes the door behind her with a raised eyebrow. She's initially taken aback by the chilly reception, but then she just snorts in amusement.]

Alright then. Is anyone inside this room temporarily provided by our temporary bosses in this temporary world, temporarily?

[At least he looks to be around her age, even if he may be going grey at the ripe old age of 19.]

[ Though the lack of his usual psychic abilities is disconcerting, Frontal thinks it may have been a boon just for the moment. To have Angelo feel his own discontent and, frankly, confusion might have disastrous consequences.

At the time of Aelwyn's arrival he's been seated on his bed, occupied with the very important task of staring at nothing. The sound of voices summons him into the hallway. He is wearing his mask, because he always is. ]

So we're all together then. This apartment is designed to house three, after all.

[ A nod of greeting towards Aelwyn. He just won't acknowledge the banter going on here right now. ]

Your name is...?

[...She honestly hadn't noticed this guy, but immediately something about him just strikes her as strange. Who wears a mask indoors like that, hello?]

...Aelwyn Abernant. An interplanetary escapee like the rest of us. You?

[ he'll cut in for him - ]

Captain Full Frontal.

And I am Angelo, his Lieutenant.

[ said in a way that is most reassuring to everyone else that he is not just a lieutenant, he is a male wife, he is here to provide comfort and support and. and. anger. mostly the latter.

he glares at her. to the captain - ]

Everything is in order. The rest of it is just [ he makes a face, he makes lots of faces, he's very animated - ] dealing with this mess.

[frontality]

[ Where Angelo is animated and full of emotion, Full Frontal is the picture of calm. It feels as though there is almost no life in him whatsoever, definitely contributing to how off he looks. He nods when his lieutenant handles the introduction for him.

Apparently that name is not a joke. ]

Indeed, deal we must. It does not seem like the solution will be a quick one, so we might be sharing these quarters for a bit. Pleased to make your acquaintance, Miss Aelwyn.

You'll find us quiet roommates, I think.

[ ... one look at Angelo probably calls this into question. ]

Full Frontal is... your real name?

[She blinks, a bit taken aback. Then looks at Angelo being possessive and angry, then looks at Full Frontal being calm, quiet and angry. Yeah, okay, anything's better than living with her family.] Well, your parents must have sucked. Sorry for that. [Despite how mean that is, it actually seems...... genuine??? She, named what roughly translates to First-Born Divine, knows what it's like for parents to take absolutely no care in naming their children.]

Are you two actually like, together, or is he just thirsty? [She points at Angelo, but directs the question to Frontal.]

Nobody asked you for your opinions regarding the name! Shut up!

[ why is he being ignored! angelo takes a great deal of offence to that, moving closer and in front of his captain as if to shield him from this insolent girl. why are they stuck with her? this is terrible. angel snarls, ]

You are free to sleep in the gutters if it's a problem!

[ Full Frontal doesn't actually get a single syllable in as a response before Angelo is bristling and that is just as expected. Normally, he would quiet Angelo with a thought now. The two of them are linked, always feeling one another, always aware of each other's presence. Sending over a little wave of calm, it would be nothing... at home.

Here, it is impossible. Frontal feels trapped in his body. In absence of any psychic way of holding back his companion, Frontal puts a gentle hand on his shoulder. ]

It is my real name.

[ No comment on the parent situation. That feels like... too much for a first meeting, by far. ]

And you misunderstand our relationship. Angelo follows me because we share a common ideology, not because of any such personal sentiments.

[Aelwyn nods, amused by Angelo's reaction. She gives him the sublte wink of 'Oh, sure, common ideology. I get you.']

Right, right. Well, I can't pretend to understand your circumstances, but you both seem lovely. I'll probably also [absolutely not] be a quiet enough roommate so, you know. That works.

[She puts her stuff down and lands on the couch, resting her head on her arms.]

Lucky you, though. Did you ask to be paired up or was that just luck of the draw?

[ the hand on his shoulder tells angelo not to go off like a firecracker, but he's resentful because he's thinking the same thing - normally this would be something communicated to him in peace, and not like this, where the captain would have to rely on gestures and words to spell out what he means. it makes him feel a bit more foolish than normal.

in any case it's a silent command and angelo obeys. he scoffs at her words. ]

.... that'd imply we had some measure of control.

We were lucky. [ he pauses, and then he adds, ] and all the same, unfortunate given what they've taken from us.

[ not easy being a newtype here. he feels human, and his captain must feel the same, and the thought is revolting to him. ]

[ Frontal is glad that the physical reassurance at least temporarily does its job in replacing their mental connection, but it is not something he feels should become a long term solution. Being merely human is simply not an option. ]

They or the nature of the world that we have come into. Not that it matters.

Being here is an intolerable diversion from what we should be doing. Miss Aelwyn, I assume you would also prefer to return home as soon as possible?

[She sort of turns away, eager to not be put on the spot for this question. Why would she go home? What has that world done for her? What has she done for it that it wouldn't be better off if she never came back? But her sister...

But Adaine. The only person in the vast expanse of the multiverse she has ever loved. The selfish choice would be to try to return, to see if Adaine's offer of forgiveness, of mercy, would still stick after she'd taken advantage of it to escape.

No, Adaine would be better off if she never came back. The world would be better off if she never came back, but she's not pathetic enough to pretend she gives a fuck about the world.] I don't think anyone is particularly eager to stay in this one, at least.

Good. That sentiment is shared among us three.

[ where she ends up after, it matters little to him. but what's important is that they all share a goal, because if not, the captain has already signalled to him that he can't just go around yapping against random strangers. he will abide, because the captain is here.

angelo takes out a notepad. ]

Living conditions are otherwise passable. [ he points to where aelwyn can stay - ] That one is yours.

[aelwyn_aberration]

[She looks at the bedroom door, opening it up and looking inside. It's not as big as she's used to, but this is an apartment block and not a mansion. She'd say it's better than the orb, but she doesn't even remember that.]

It looks cozy! [She closes the door.]

Well, I hope we can make it a decent stay, for however long we're stuck in this world. [She's a bit curious as to whether or not they'll get seperate rooms, but she won't ask directly.]

[frontality]

[ Frontal looks bemused as Angelo simply assigns a bedroom to Aelwyn, not about to tell him off for his bossiness anytime soon. For himself... he picks between the other two rooms at random. ]

I'll take this one, then.

[ No shared rooms for these two, though Aelwyn will probably find Angelo walk into Frontal's quite a bit over the time they are living here. Notably, Frontal never infringes on Angelo's space meanwhile. ]

It's not large, but with separate bathrooms we only have the kitchen to worry about as a potential spot where we get into each other's way.

[ to aelwyn, he asks her - ] Do you know how to cook?

[ because the captain's knowledge of things is incomplete and between the two of them he's the one more likely to take command of the kitchen, but he needs to know if that's to be shared with aelwyn if she likes cooking at all. ]

With magic? [But they're not supposed to do that here....]

How unfortunate.

[ ... and yeah he absolutely can't cook, he never even tried. ]

I have heard the cafeteria in the headquarters offers free lunch.

... there is. [ he says it in reply to the captain. ] But just in case, the kitchen is a more private place than the cafeteria.

[ angelo narrows his eyes at her. what's she gonna do, pull a dove out of the stove? anyway. ]

It just means I'll be in charge of the kitchen, which isn't new to me.

[Rude!!! She can cook something and make it better than anything he could come up with because she literally gets to decide on the texture and taste with her mind!!!! Fucking muggles!!!]

That works for me. I have no real interest in cooking personally. There's also the living room, for the record.

I won't need it, personally.

as for the living room, he nearly gives her a scathing look. ]

If you eat there and leave crumbs you are cleaning it on your hands and knees, I swear on it. The most it should be seeing is tea, but the living room isn't interchangeable with the kitchen and the dining room for eating. [ there are rules about this!! ]

[She looks legitimately shocked.]

What the fuck – god, no! I wasn't raised by wolves, ew.

[Why would anyone eat and leave crumbs in the living room that's??? She's rich and also was raised by parents who would disown her for that, help.]

I just meant that is also a communal area. Since I believe the captain said it should only be the kitchen that we'll all be using on a regular basis.

[ "Captain" what? He's going to get more sleep here than ever before in his short miserable life, you can't make him sit down and watch TV or something too, he'd combust! ]

[ Because he forgot living rooms are a thing. ]

I trust you two will be able to settle the use of the living room amiably, in any case.

and with the captain's words he turns to him with all confidence, like he hasn't just maligned someone for their lack of cooking skill. it's fine!! it's perfectly normal from angelo. ]

Of course. We'll make it work.

That's the idea. [She will smile a little, amused by the Captain's disregard of the living room. She thinks, internally, and a little cruelly that she's summoned elementals with more life than this man.]

Well, if that's all, it was lovely to meet you and I'm sure we can discuss that at a later date. I do need my beauty sleep, however.
