Who: Martin Blackwood and maybe you!
Username: [mkblackwood]
Warnings: Nothing past current game events!
[The feed opens to Martin, looking... well, more than a bit haggard. He's not in the ADI building, and those who know him will know it's a desk at his bedroom in the house he's renting with Rogers, Winter, and Yelena. He looks like he's at least trying to be put together, and takes a big breath before he starts.]
Okay, so... so listen. I just, I, I know it's been-- a lot, lately, everything's been a lot for a long time and we all want answers. But-- with the whole, er. The whole Dogtown thing. And the fence. Have we all just... thought about maybe not going in there?
[He puts his hands up defensively as if he's expecting to be yelled at.]
And I know, I know, I-- I want to save our friends too, but... it wouldn't be drawing us in if it didn't want us there. And if it wants us there, it has a plan, and-- I just, I just think this whole thing is a really really bad idea. And maybe we should consider taking a step back, and thinking about what happens, and not-- not just doing this because it's the next thing to do.
[Martin looks more resolute as the broadcast goes on, trying to straighten his back and be, well, big about the whole thing. But still, he exhales more than he likely should at the end, and then just hastily nods.]
So... please?

[Raine took a moment to take their glasses off and clean them. To calm down just a bit. The web's not exactly a stranger to them anymore, but they're not gone. Just struggling.]
I'm not going because it wants me to, completely. I'm also going to try and see if I can't disrupt whatever it's trying to do. I wish I had more knowledge on the house, but when I was collecting information I only knew of it and two of the entities that were prominent around it.
[Raine paused. Perhaps part of this is motivated by their need to be self sacrificial, but luckily he doesn't know them well enough to pick up on that. Probably.]
I don't doubt it. But who would I be if I didn't try? If I had sat around and let Belos wipe out the Boiling Isles and didn't try to stop him, I do not believe I would have been any better than the people who helped him.

It's-- this is different than a tyrant or something wiping someone out. This isn't something you can just go in and fight and kill. It doesn't work that way. And if people keep thinking it works that way they're going to die or become an Avatar or, or both probably.

I know. You couldn't go in a fight and kill The Emperor either. In case you forgot, where Eda and I are from, magic existed.
[Their tone holds more frustration the longer they talk.]
I understand humans don't have magic. But even with it I still couldn't touch Belos. Nobody could, especially not alone, and killing him was hardly an option. He controlled us with the fear and control he'd convinced us we needed to have. But that's not hard to do when you convince people their nature is something to be afraid of, and punish them by petrifying them or making them disappear. Or worse.
[Raine could keep going, and frankly they want to, but their frustration is outweighed by their exhaustion.]
I had to work within the system as a coven head to get close to the danger so I could stop the draining spell.
Sometimes that's the best option. In this case, I believe it is.

[That's what he did with Peter, and it almost- surprise- killed him or made him an Avatar.]
And I-- just because my world wasn't exactly like yours doesn't mean I'm some sort of fool. People control other people in other places, and you're-- you're just describing exactly why we shouldn't go in there. It's about control. It's about the choices we're making and when we get to say we're not doing something just because we're supposed to be scared into it.
