Steve sputters a laugh - whoops, he hadn't been thinking of other people that might apply to - but he can tell, clearly, that Rue is joking.

His laughter dies down into a soft smile, though, as he lefts out a breath. "I guess it doesn't. That's... one thing I've been trying to learn. I'm just a little slow on the uptake, sometimes."

But he feels like he'd been getting there, on his own.

"It helps," he finally adds. "Seeing other people get it." Like Rue and Hob.
