Pyre nods back, then gives an awkward little shrug. "Oh, uh. I got in some trouble with the law, you know? Did some things I shouldn't have done. Fenix kept me from going back to jail, got me on the straight and narrow--that's a joke, I like to call the railroad the straight and narrow because it's--the tracks are narrow and there's...they're straight a lot of the time."

He trails off, realizing the joke isn't so funny if he has to explain it. He's had this realization before. Then he brightens as he thinks of something. "But I decided to reshape myself for a new life."

He puts odd emphasis on the word, and giggles again like he's said another joke.
