For all the weirdness going on, Pyre seems like a nice enough young man. Jaeger is content to fall back on gentle questions rather than grilling (hah) him.

Even if he feels like he's missing something, not quite getting to the heart of it. That's okay, he's patient and his mind is working on the situation, picking at the threads of what he's being told to find the next potentially useful question.

"We master it, but it's never completely safe," he agrees. "Forces of nature are like that, I think. We associate fire with passion, with power, and that adds another element to it." He smiles a little. "Giving yourself over to it completely, though, that's not something many people have the nerve to do."
